LAKE PLACID ADK GARDEN COTTAGE AT THE WHITEFACE CLUB RESORT

My husband and I love this cottage, so much so we have stayed here three times over the past two years. Owners Mary and Ben have done a wonderful job maintaining the cozy charm of this cottage and really put a lot of thought into some recent updates, like the new dining bench that sits along the dinning room window it's the perfect spot to sit and enjoy your morning coffee! The cottage is the perfect distance from the main part of town, not too close and not too far. We loved visiting the local gourmet store Temptations each day of our stay to see what soup they had on and to stock up on their amazing olive oils. There are so many dining options but its nice to have a full kitchen too in case you want to stay in and sit by a roaring fire all night. Our dog Fred thoroughly enjoyed his third visit here as well, we love that this spot is pet friendly, the town in general is very pet friendly. Be sure to check out the great hikes in the area and if you like to cross country ski you are in luck there are trails literally steps away from the cottage. After a long day of hiking or snowboarding there is nothing better than coming back to the cottage and getting into that bed, the bed is so comfortable. We have stayed at other places in Lake Placid but hope to never have to stay anywhere else but The Garden Cottage it really is a home away from home! My husband and I arrived at the cottage as the snow was lightly falling. Garden cottage looked as though it was out of a fairy tale! Upon entering we were greeted with such a warm and inviting decor it took our breath away. We instantly felt relaxed and excited for our Christmas stay. The new owners, Mary and Ben, made a great first impression welcoming us with a bottle of wine and two glasses. Not necessary but so sweet and thoughtful. From there it was nothing less than a perfect stay...The fieldstone fireplace (with loads of good dry wood) is the main event and where we spent many enjoyable hours sipping wine, relaxing and reading books. The bed is so wonderful no discription here will do it justice! I'm still trying to track down those pillows...the kitchen is better equiped than my own and is adorable in it's own right. We felt as though we were living in a magical snow globe as it snowed lightly every single day! When we did "have" to venture out, the cottage is located on the most beautiful 2 mile drive to town and perfectly located (near everything but "in the woods" and feels remote). A Relais & Chateau property, The Lake Placid Lodge, is within a brisk walk from the cottage. We enjoyed Maggie's Pub on more than one occasion! Whiteface ski mountain is less than 10 miles away and we enjoyed a wonderful day skiing only to "hurry" back to "our cottage" to warm up by the fire. Indeed, you will want for nothing at Garden Cottage and we cannot wait to return! Finally, we can't say enough about Vanessa's professionalism and excellent speedy communication. She was an absolute joy to work with and made everything seemless! Thank you! Our only teenie suggestion was a radio for music and weather and the owners bought one pronto! Thank you Ben and Mary for the memories and congratulations on purchaseing, no doubt, the most special and adorable enchanting cottage in all the Adorandacks! Well done!

My wife and I recently spent two wonderful nights at the Garden Cottage. The cottage is upscale, spotless, cozy, classy and absolutely wonderful. My wife and I travel all the time and have spent many nights in cottages and cabins throughout New England. The Garden Cottage is now one of our favorites. The owners are new owners but they are excellent hosts; they know what they are doing! We were greeted with a bottle of wine, a fireplace staged with wood, a turned down bed and the cottage in impeccable condition. There is every convenience and appliance you will need for your stay. The cottage is in a great, upscale location and convenient to downtown Lake Placid. We can't wait to go back to the Garden Cottage. It will be soon!
