Five bedroom waterfront home in Deep Cove on Vancouver's Indian Arm saltwater inlet, 25 minutes from downtown. This beautiful vacation residence is bordered on the west by a year round creek. The property has a private dock, rocky beach, and garden area. Additionally, it has a large heated jacuzzi/hot-tub built into a wooden deck between the house and the water.
The home itself is ideally situated to capture the beauty of its setting. Each of its three stories have many windows that look out on the inlet outside. Each story also boasts a cedar deck, where you can enjoy your morning coffee while watching the sunrise.
The residence has a reverse layout with a top floor entrance into the living, kitchen and dining areas, which open onto a panoramic e/s/w view. Visible from the property are both deep cove marinas, coastal mountains and islets, and the lights of port Coquitlan and Burnaby in the distance. Tidal changes are up to twelve feet here and crabs can be caught right off the dock. The house is very private and feels as though you're 'away from it all,' yet it's only 20 km from downtown Vancouver. Families traveling together will find this spot a refreshing and private escape in all seasons. Like all homes in this area, the property is forested by cedars and deciduous trees.
This home has had extensive upgrades and remodeling over the last five years. It is now available for weekly, monthly, or longer periods by agreement (it is otherwise used as the family's vacation home). We are not renting for shorter stays than one week except 'off season' and then to families or businesses and not for 'event' (parties, etc) use. It is a NON SMOKING house in a quiet area. We prefer to limit the group size to 10 or 12 including children. Property usage is intended for registered guests for the most part (e.g., a few local friends/family/business retreat members visiting is fine but no large parties or events or celebrations with visitors not on the contract unless with owner's prior permission). NOTE: This is not a 'formal' house in terms of dining table with leaves, matching chairs beyond six, etc. It is as depicted in the photos. We do have a table extension in matching wood to seat 10.
Residential neighborhood “quiet hours” are observed before 9 a.m. and after 9 p.m. daily.
At the street level there is a garage and parking for 2 other vehicles. The home is a ten minute walk to the Deep Cove village along Panorama Drive (where the Baden/Powell trail from Mt. Seymour area ends), as well as to the local kayak center and two marinas. Street parking is also available for additional cars and visitors w/o charge or time limits. NOTE: ambulatory abilities are necessary, as the house has extensive stairs, and there are no lifts on any level. This is NOT a 'child safe' house in that there are open stairwells, etc. so renters must strictly supervise young children in and out.
The four bedrooms on the middle level of the house include:
(a) master bedroom with private inlet-facing deck, king-sized bed, a movable single bed, and en-suite bath;
(b) creek-side bedroom with small creek-facing deck and private entrance and queen-sized bed;
(c) creek-side bedroom with queen-sized bed;
(d) bedroom with double bed.
The bottom floor of the house has a creek-side bedroom with a queen-sized bed. It is less 'finished' than the other bedrooms but comfortable, bed and carpeting new in 2014 and it has its own bath downstairs just being remodeled now in 2015.
The home also has a playpen/baby bed if needed, but does not have a full size crib. A high chair also will be supplied if needed on request (2 available).
(a) one-half bath on top floor;
(b) one shared bathroom on the middle floor (with combined jetted tub and shower);
(c) one en-suite bathroom attached to master bedroom on middle floor, with double-headed shower;
(d) one bathroom on bottom floor, with shower enclosure.
Entertainment and relaxation:
(a) hot tub /jetted jacuzzi (outside);
(b) small garden/grassy area;
(c) private dock (with space to tie up your own boat up to 20 feet w/ approval) and swim ladder;
(e) private access beach (rocky, with stairs to water);
(f) pool table;
(g) large flat screen TV on upper level, with smaller TV on lower level, both with cable.
(h) board games, books, and cards for cozy nights at home.
Newly remodeled and fully equipped with place settings for 10 and many more large and small plates, bowls, and flatware (not all matched). All standard cooking equipment and platters, etc. Stainless refrigerator + dishwasher, all customary small appliances, and barbeque on upper deck available year round. Also has separate wine refrigerator and bar sink, with wine and cocktail glasses. Main table seats 6 + 5 at adjacent granite bar/ counter + small table extenders can be added to seat 10 at dining table. Small kitchen also on lower level with microwave, sink, and refrigerator. High chair and booster chair available on request.
All of the of upper two floors have new bamboo hardwood flooring and we ask guests to wear clean, soft soled shoes or slippers; bottom floor is tile and carpet.
Access to lower level also can be entirely from outside, using stair/walkway from street level if desired. Shoe trays are provided in entrance foyer and utility room.
Fireplace: two fireplaces w/ gas inserts and decorative logs/stones: no wood burning!
Upper decks: For travelers with small children please know that the decks are wood rail with safety glass inserts--but still, glass.
All rentals are subject to contract and advance deposits. Pricing in this listing may be adjusted depending on number of guests, pets, etc and length of stay (e.G., 10 days v. Weekly rate, more or less than 10 guests).
