Dresden Lodge Rental Photos and Description

Family friendly home with 4 bedrooms, 3 baths and spectacular lake views.

The Seneca Lodge is a magnificant, four bedroom, three bath , cedar home designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. Purchased in 2012 it has been refurnished and decorated to reflect the ambiance of lodge living in the Finger Lakes. All the wood furnishings were custom made by a Pennsylvania Mennonite artisan exclusively for this home.

As you enter the driveway from the main street, you will notice the tall pines, oaks and maple trees that are surrounded by a lush growth of vincas that line the one side . A display of giant hostas take presence on the other side with hummingbirds feeding daily on their nector. As you enter the house from the large gravel parking area, you are welcomed into a picture-perfect lodge atmosphere with the spacious wrap around deck. Your first inclination is to run around the deck to get that first breathtaking view of the lake!

What you will notice on the deck is that it is furnished comfortably for outdoor meals and lounging. A Weber Grill is conveniently located outside the kitchen near the sturdy dining table and chairs.

On the home's main level you will enter through the spacious country kitchen. Impeccably designed with custom built cabinets, corrian counter tops,a Thermador gas / electric stove, and an extra stainless steel refrigerator for the discriminating chef. The open kitchen looks out into the great room with wood floors and chalet style floor-to -ceiling windows that highlight the incrediable views. Within the great room is the dining area that features a custom hand made Mennonite grand cedar dining table, chairs and bench. Ample seating for ten. The lodge design continues into the living area with a large braided rug, a huge leather sofa and chair, Mennonite custom made cedar wagon wheel table and chair. A flat screen TV ,large fireplace, and vaulted ceilings compliment the relaxing lodge atmosphere. Look around at the decor as you may find some interesting items of years gone by. The hutch was made from old barnwood from Pennsylvania and the two end tables from wine barrels of a local winery!

Off the rear of the kitchen and down a separate tiled hallway are two bedrooms each with queen size white cedar log beds and Adirondack decor. A full size tiled bathroom is nearby with a shower/tub combo, commode and double sinks. Down the hallway, is a wet bar that includes a blender and glasses for every type of wine, beer and coctails that you can make. A HE Maytag washer and dryer are also located here.

Follow the stairs up in the great room to the master suite loft. Here you find ample living space ,burber carpet , cedar vaulted ceilings and skylights. Two comfy chairs look out over the great room. With the large windows you will have views of the beach and lake to wake up to! The private suite includes a custom king size rough-hewn red cedar log bed with matching end tables and lodge decor. The green tiled bathroom offers a separate shower stall, commode, and double sinks. A wall of built in cedar drawers are located in the master closet . A flat screen TV is there for your enjoyment.

Down the hallway from the first floor, are another set of stairs that lead to a walk out lower level. Here you will encounter the spacious family room with 50' plasma TV with surround sound and a full size slate pool table for evening enjoyment. Located down the hall is the home's fourth bedroom, with two twin beds and Adirondack decor. A full bathroom , tiled ,with tub/shower combination, commode, and double sink is across the hall. Walk out this lower level for your ultimate relation in the large gorgeous hot tub on the private patio.

A gently sloping grassy path leads you to the level natural lake frontage. Bring your meals and drinks with you and enjoy the two picnic tables that are there for your convenience. The adjacent flat lawn is is perfect for a game of outdoor activities or relaxing by reading a book in a lounge chair under the tree. For those who love being out on the water, a canoe, rowboat and two kayacks are provided for your enjoyment. Life vests are in the small shed located nearby along with water toys for small children and additional seating. The swimming area has a ladder off the permanent dock. After swimming ,wrap up in your towel and relax in one of the chairs in the seating area on the dock. Keep your eyes open as you may catch a glimpse of the Blue Heron, or Bald Eagle that frequents the waters near Seneca Lodge.

About Tom and Sandy Hood

Tom and Sandy Hood have been renting their vacation home on Seneca Lake for the past 5 years through a local rental agency. They are no strangers to what the discriminating guest demands in a vacation home for cleanliness , amenities and a relaxing time with their family. They recently purchased Seneca Lodge and furnished it with impeccably designed furniture and comforts to offer their guests the ultimate experience while at the lake. This season they decided to do the rentals of their vacation home themselves and save their guests the additional costs assosiated with going through a rental company.

This is their second home , they take pride in it and they love it. That it why you will not see it rented for many weeks throughout the year- because they are there!

What makes this lodge unique

What don't we love about this property!!- Because it is nestled among tall pines, oaks and maples, you feel secluded from the neighbors. With the large 'A' frame windows and wrap around porch, your view of the lake is breathtaking throughout the day.We love enjoying it with a cup of coffee in the morning and a glass of wine at night. There is a wide grassy path that leads to a natural lake frontage of 100 ft. with a flat lawn. A fire pit is available for nightime gatherings , ghost stories and smores. The permanent boat dock boasts a sitting area that has views up and down the lake! There is also a swim ladder that we use throughout the warm summer months. A large maple tree is situated at the corner of the beach and extends cooling shade for relief of the hot summer sun.

Great time!

Wonderfully appointed, clean, and in an excellent state of up keep. The down stairs pool room was the perfect place for some beers from the hop farm and brewery around the corner while watching the World Cup on the big tv. The yard and lake front were very well kept and the cat fish were tasty. I would certainly recommend senneca lodge and will consider returning myself.

Perfect Family Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

Seneca Lodge was the perfect setting for my family's first vacation in seven years. We had 8 adults and 2 children with us, and everyone had something they loved about this house. The runners in the group enjoyed the low-traffic roads and nearby trails for morning workouts; the fishermen were out every morning in the canoes and cast right off the dock in the evenings; the kids (young and old) loved playing in the lake; the cooks felt right at home in the fully-stocked kitchen; and we were all able to relax and enjoy each other's company. The big dining room table easily fit the whole crew, and we were all able to sit together while roasting marshmallows around the fire pit or while taking in the sunrise on the amazing wrap-around porch.

Seneca Lodge is also perfectly situated on Seneca Lake with a lot to see and do nearby. Some of us made nightly trips to Mr. Twisties for ice cream, we drove to Penn Yan several times for breakfast and dinner, and we took short rides just down the street to lots of wineries and breweries (among our favorites were Miles Wine Cellars and Climbing Bines Brewery). The history buff in the group was able to check out The Women's Rights National Historical Park in Seneca Falls, and the whole family took day trips to Niagara Falls and Watkins Glen State Park.

The house was even better than described, and the owners were wonderful and attentive. They generously allowed us to bring our family pets, which helped us all relax and enjoy our trip even more. We used several of the owners' suggestions for restaurants and nearby activities, and we all had a fantastic time! I would absolutely recommend this home.

Great location on Seneca Lake for larger group

  • 5 of 5

I was part of a group of 10 (two families) between the ages of 2 and 66 that stayed at Seneca Lodge for a week.

The listing for this property and photos are very accurate. We did not have any surprises upon arrival. Being about half way down Seneca Lake the location was convenient to Penn Yan, Geneva and Watkins Glen. The property itself was very clean and well maintained with lots of room to spread out. Before arrival the owner was easily accessible by phone and email. Upon arrival the owner also made a point to call to make sure there weren't any issues.

Inside the great room was a perfect gather place with doors leading directly to the deck to catch some of the gorgeous morning sunshine. The bedrooms are spread across three floors so we never felt like we were always bumping into each other. Whoever gets the King room in the loft will be in heaven. The room is HUGE and the view is priceless! The path to the water was a little steeper than anticipated but even our youngest and oldest members were able to handle it. While the mat in the water helped there were still a lot of rocks to navigate around and quite a bit of algae making swimming less than ideal. All the watercraft provided were perfect for exploring the lake and we also brought some inflatable chairs that were tied to the dock for some lazy floating in the water.

The hot tub worked flawlessly and was a perfect spot to relax with a drink at the end of the day. The pool table and 50" TV in the basement also proved to be useful on the one rainy day we encountered.

We visited several of the nearby wineries. There are plenty to choose from within a 15min drive. Our favourites were Anthony Road and Hermann J. Wiemer. We also explored the gorge in Watkins Glen which was truly amazing. Finally, the shoppers in our group drove the 40 mins to Waterloo and came home with several bags worth of deals.

So, if you are a larger group looking for a convenient location on Seneca Lake that has plenty of amenities, is clean and is well maintained Seneca Lodge should be at the top of your list!

Beautiful Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

Seneca Lodge is a beautiful vacation home. My family (8 people total, plus our dog) spent a week there and couldn't have asked for a more perfect home. The description and photos are very accurate. The home has a peaceful and private setting. The layout is great for large families- the kids took over the lower level and in the evenings enjoyed the pool table and movies on the big screen TV. The main floor is a great size and has wonderful views. The kitchen is very well-stocked for meals for large families, and the extra refrigerator was very handy. The wrap around deck is spacious, well-furnished and with gates that close at each entry, perfect for small children or dogs. The owner, Sandy, is very responsive and helpful. I would recommend this home to anyone looking to enjoy the Finger Lakes Region.
