4 Bedroom Ensuite + 1 Bedroom Ensuite, riverfront, close to beaches

Villas De Las Aves are two very private residences situated in lush tropical gardens on a large riverside estate. The house and villa are offered as luxury vacation rentals and are ideal for family and group vacations as we can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests.

The estate is perfectly situated on the South Pacific coast close to the villages of Uvita, Dominical and Ojochal and the numerous palm fringed beaches that make up the spectacular Costa Ballena.

Villas de Las Aves offers guests the best of both worlds, combining individually designed, spacious and elegant private sanctuaries situated in a tranquil oasis with instant access to Costa Rica’s abundant wildlife and exciting jungle adventures.

Our guests can fall asleep to the sound of the river, awake to the sound of the jungle; relax in a hammock with a book; enjoy a cocktail by the pool; practice yoga on our private platform next to a jungle stream under the canopy of an ancient tree; BBQ fresh seafood on private decks under stars with only the fireflies for company……relax, refresh and renew is our motto.

Villas De Las Aves has been recently upgraded and renovated offering guests all the modern conveniences in a beautiful jungle setting. Villa Colibri is our original very private, romantic one bedroom villa with it’s own sundeck and hot tub.

Casa Rio is an expansive 4 bed roomed house with gourmet kitchen and upper level covered lounge dining area overlooking the river. Casa Rio sleeps 8 very comfortably and has it’s own boardwalk to the pool and sun deck area. The house can be rented as a whole or we can rent by the room to included breakfast.

Two acres surrounding the villas have been planted with flowers and trees chosen especially to attract the local birds and butterflies. We have a large exotic heliconia collection, which is loved by the resident humming birds, and many native fruit trees that attract the toucans and monkeys. Night blooming jasmine and the fragrant ylang-ylang have been planted around to the villas allowing the evening breezes to bring the scents to your veranda.

Guests can take a leisurely walk through the gardens or a more challenging hike through the forest to nearby waterfalls and swimming holes.

Uvita offers several dining opportunities and the nearby village of Ojochal is the home to gourmet French and Thai restaurants.

Our famous restaurant “The Chefs Table” is no longer open but Sarah does offer private gourmet dinners served in your villa. Custom Menus can be designed to the guest’s preferences taking advantage of the fresh organic produce available from local farmers and fishermen.

Delicious home made cakes and pastries can also be ordered and tropical continental breakfast trays to make your stay extra special.

About Sarah Loftus

My name is Sarah and I co-own the property and manage the estate and I am available at all times to help, answer questions and make your stay extra special. It is extremely important to me that all our guests enjoy their stay at Villas De Las Aves and I am happy to work hard to make this happen. We are very proud of our excellent reputation and reviews and I am thrilled when guests come back to see us again.

I graduated in hotel management and went onto study at the Cordon Bleu in London and with Roger Verge at the Moulin De Mougins Restaurant in Cannes, France. I spent 15 years working as a Chef on private yachts around the world before moving to Costa Rica permanently 12 years ago. I look forward to meeting you and I am excited to be able to share the beauty and tranquility that is Villas de Las Aves.

What makes this estate unique

At Villas De Las Aves we feel like we are miles away from all the stresses of everyday life. There is no artificial noise, no disturbances, no traffic noise, it is entirely peaceful. Yet in saying that we are located only minutes from Uvita and all the amenities and conveniences that we might need.

We love being by the river, it changes daily, it is alive and home to wildlife that we don't see elsewhere such as the tiger heron and river otter. The river brings the cool breezes and there is nothing better than lounging around in a cool swimming hole on a really hot day.
