We came here for our summer vacation, fell in love with the Smokies, so we decided to buy a second home and possibly retire here.

Pat Toner purchased this cabin in 2012

The mountain view and the easy access to the spur. You don't have to go way up the mountain, and you feel like your the only cabin on the mountain. It is so easy getting in and out, and is easy on your vehicle. There is nothing about this cabin that we don't love. The best word to describe this place is easy and beautiful.

The views, the wildlife and the serenity. If you come once, you will come back.

WONDERFUL CABIN!!

  • 5 of 5
We LOVED our stay at the cabin!! It was nice to be close to Gatlinburg yet far enough away to enjoy nature and the awesome view of Mt. Laconte. The view from the deck is INCREDIBLE. The pictures do not do it justice. We loved sitting in the rocking chairs or in the hot tub relaxing after a day of hiking. Will definitely stay here again and recommend to friends/family!!! Thank you Pat for letting us enjoy your cabin and being so helpful!!

Owner's Response: Hello Sandra,
Thank you for your kind words and for staying at our cabin. Your suggestions were very helpful. Keeping me updated with what is going on at the cabin, helps me stay on top of things. As I like to say, "your experience is also my experience", my family stays here several times a year. I will be updating the photos soon. Those pics have not been updated since I bought the cabin in 2012. We always encourage return renters, our cabin can also be your cabin. Come on back, we will welcome you with open arms. See you next time.

GREAT CABIN!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I were very pleased with this cabin. The view and the porch were great! The property was well maintained and had everything we needed. It is also very close to both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge so traveling to either destination was convenient.

FIRST TIME TO THE SMOKIES...GREAT PLACE TO STAY!

  • 5 of 5
Great location, easy access to Gatlinburg but when you're there you feel like you're away from it all. Our kids had a great time playing around the cabin, and hanging out by the fireplace. The cabin had everything we needed. Unfortunately didn't see any bears, but it was very early in the season. Pat was very easy to work with and very responsive. We'll definitively be back.

PERFECT FAMILY GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here for a quick getaway, and we absolutely loved it. We are a young family with three children 9,8, and 2, and they had an absolute blast. The kids loved the board games, the hot tub, and playing outside. My husband and I loved the family time and of course, the hot tub as well. Grilling outside, sitting in the amazing chairs with my hands wrapped around a hot mug of coffee, looking out at the breathtaking view, watching my kids running around with huge smiles on their faces, that was the best thing about the trip. The fact that the beds were comfy, you had everything you could need, the TV had every channel you could think of, and the rustic and homey feel of the cabin made you feel like you were at home, well, that was just a plus. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us, Pat. We will definitely be back. We still want to see that bear! :)

Owner's Response: Thank you for your stellar review Cynthia. You made good use of the amenities that are provided. The games are there to fill the down times, or family bonding time. I've sat out there many mornings looking at the mountain, or waiting for the clouds to clear, it is pretty peaceful. The kids playing on the property, or exploring in the ravine, gives my wife and I some quiet time together. Sitting in the hot tub and looking out at the mountain or the lights at night is a real joy. If you would like to see the bears, come back again. We can't promise bears, but many people have seen them. When you are ready, come on back, we will be here. Pat

SPECTACULAR VIEW AND PERFECT LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
Perfect! The view was amazing! It was different everyday we were there as it snowed, rained, had fog and sunshine all in one week. It changed the view everyday which was really beautiful to see. It is centrally located for easy access to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We went to a concert and country line dancing an hour away in Knoxville. Also checked out a drive through animal ranch, Briarwood Safari in Bybee and enjoyed a scenic ride home in the mountains. Hiked to Chimney Tops which was very close. Enjoyed shopping in Gatlinburg, wine tasting, live music. Pancake pantry has awesome crepes!
We didn't arrive until after dark and the gps took us the long way around the mountain when there is a shorter more direct route. It was a bit confusing to find the cabin as there is another one with the same address.

The owner was very helpful with any questions.

A few things that did not impact us but I would have liked... There is one small tree that I wish could be cut down as it was hard to take pictures without it in it. It would also be nice if newer plush couches replaced the current ones. The current ones are comfortable but I just think it would be more inviting if newer ones were brought in. For some reason the couches I viewed online almost deterred me from chosing this cabin as they appearred uncomfortable but they are ok. The fireplace makes an audible noise when initially turned on but if you cut it off and turn it back on it goes away. The hot tub was not hot the first night either. The owner instructed me to hit the red reset button behind the panel and check the temperature setting. This would be good to add to the cabin binder. In all a fantastic, clean and well maintainted cabin with an awesome view! I would definitely come and stay here again.

SIMPLE, LITTLE CABIN WITH A GREAT LOCATION AND VIEW

  • 4 of 5
I've been meaning to write this review sooner. I got busy with the holidays but really wanted to share our experience in this cabin. The drive up off of the spur was super easy and quick. When we arrived, unfortunately, it was pretty rainy and then we couldn't get into our cabin. Ugh! After an upsetting hour of trying to figure out what happened we found that the cleaning crew had changed the code to the door and it wasn't what was given to us by the owners. Once we got inside and settled in I was initially a little disappointed. The cabin looks exactly like the pictures. Maybe we went too simple, because it's pretty basic. Don't get me wrong it has some very nice features, but it just wasn't what I was looking for.
The flatscreen TV was nice but having it over the fireplace was pretty far away from the living room area. A much bigger TV would be better, but they did offer any channel you could possibly want and wifi which was great!! I was anxious to see the view, but with all of the rain and low clouds there was no view. Even the next day it wasn't what I was hoping for, but.....once the clouds completely cleared the view was one of the best we've ever had. The pictures don't do it justice. The hot tub was nice, not quite hot enough at first, but a quick call to the owners helped. Pat told us how to turn up the temperature and then it was perfect. At first glance the deck is nice, but those chairs were not comfortable to sit on. After all of the talk of bears I got worried that one might come up the steps on the deck. One of the things I specifically asked about was the road noise from the deck. We've stayed off the spur before and could hear it. The owner told me that it was very quiet and peaceful. Actually I could hear the noise and a few semi's too. I wasn't happy about that.
We thought the bedrooms were nice and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was pretty basic, but did have what we needed for a three day getaway.
All and all the cabin was pretty good with it's location to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, the easy drive up and it's also very private. This review is just my opinion. Even my husband didn't have a problem with some of the things I complained about. So if you're looking for nothing fancy but a nice little cabin, I would definitely recommend staying here.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your response Teresa. I am sorry for the inconvenience with the door. The cleaning company cleans many cabins and have calendars and schedules for each cabin. Mix ups with door codes sometimes happen, when they do, I try to address it by being available to rectify it. In case of a wrong code, I have a back-up code to give renters. I have already changed the t/v in the living room to a larger screen. It was too small for that size room. I also installed a new WIFI and new DVD player. The symbol for the Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg is the black bear. My cabin borders the park, and bears live in the park. Part of the experience of the Smokies is the chance to see a bear. In my first year and a half, I have only seen 1 bear, many of my renters have seen bears. The pictures that I have on VRBO are as advertised. It is a cozy cabin with comfortable beds, a functioning kitchen with the things you would need for your stay, a living room for hanging around on a rainy day or after a hike, new flat screen t/v's in the bedrooms and living room, a overhang deck to hang around on in the rain, with 4 rocking chairs that nobody else in 1-1/2 years has even mentioned and a hot tub with an amazing view of MT. LeConte, which is the reason most people rent my cabin. When you mentioned the sound of the highway, I had never noticed it, when I listened for it, yes I could faintly hear it, I was surprised because it is pretty far away. The trade off of a faint distant noise, to the convenience of the cabin to the highway is a trade I would make every time. In 2 minutes, you are at the Gatlinburg Welcome Center, in 5 minutes you can be in either Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. My cabin is as advertised, a clean comfortable cabin with a view that is hard to match. My cabin is not a hotel with room service and a concierge service. This is my idea of what the renting a cabin experience should be. Your experience is also my experience, my family stays there several times a year. Thank you for your suggestions. Pat
