The farmhouse is situated in the mountain resort village of Corfino, with spectacular views from the house and large pool. A small, separate house a few yards away can also be rented, increasing the capacity to 9 people. Get to know the horses and sheep on the farm and relax round the pool with a fantastic view of the Apuane Mountains. A unique holiday can be enjoyed at Casa Merico. The owner, Natalina, is a sheperdess who says she can provide 80% of a families weekly food with organic produce grown or reared on the farm. The accommodation and pool have been created with quiet relaxation in mind, but gentle and interesting activities can be witnessed on the farm. The farm still works in the traditional way, with sheep, goats, and horses living on the quiet green pastures nearby. Fantastic and safe for children, the farm is within the quiet, relatively traffic free medieval village of Corfino, with its interesting streets and alleys, shops and restaurants.

The house has two double bedrooms, one of which has an extra bed, and a twin bedroom. There is a lounge with an open fire, a kitchen area, and 2 bathrooms. Downstairs there is another lounge for children to play in. Outside there is a spacious terrace with table and loungers. There is a wood oven and a BBQ in the garden. There is a fantastic 12 x 6 metre pool with sunloungers and a great view over the mountains.

The environment is interesting for children, being a working farm where there is a constant presence of sheep, goats and friendly goats. The farm produces fine, traditional food, often to the great benefit of the guests! The farm lies just below the centre of the interesting village of Corfino, which is only 300 metres away. Corfino's summer climate is particularly appealing, the hot Tuscan summer benefiting from the fresh, mountain air.

The village is on the edge of the National Park of the Oricciella, with its well marked out paths and nature trails.

There are 3 excellent family run restaurants in Corfino, only a one minute walk from the farm. The village itself is interesting, with fine buildings and wonderful views.

The area of Garfagnana is best known for its wonderful scenery, old fashioned ways and rustic food.

Dine out on the excellent value food, with a full Tuscan lunch with wine and coffee usually costing 9 euros. An evening main course typically costs 7-10 euros, and great pizzas are as little as 5 euros

Travel from Pisa to Lucca, to Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, then to Corfino.

An inexpensive local mini-bus taxi service is available for airport transfers and local trips
