After searching for beach property for over a year, we knew at first sight this was the perfect place for us. Living in a quiet neighborhood on a costal dune lake with the beach just steps away, is truly wonderful. Experiencing the constant change of Eastern Lake interacting with the Gulf of Mexico is amazing. Together they create a very unique playground for beach lovers young and old. Each family member and friend upon their first visit here all said “This place is 'Just Perfect'! “ The name stuck. Come visit and you will understand why.
Eastern Lake is one of 15 rare coastal dune lakes found in South Walton. The rare lakes are reportedly found only along the coasts of New Zealand, Australia, Madagascar, and in the United States along the coasts of Oregon, South Carolina, and Northwest Florida. One of the most interesting features of Eastern Lake and the others is their intermittent connection to the Gulf of Mexico. When a lake reaches a high water level, it breaks through the dune system and beach and empties into the Gulf of Mexico. The neighborhood is Seagrove Beach, and so it is, a lake betwixt sea and grove. Since Eastern Lake is one of few costal dunes that allow motorized boats, you will see and enjoy small motor boats, sailboats, canoes, kayaks, paddleboards and everything in between. So, in addition to the sun and the surf of the Gulf, you can also experience the fishing, boating and the quiet waters of the lake.
