This is a STUDIO apartment with one queen size bed, located in the heart of Hollywood's Media District, close to West Hollywood, restaurants, shopping, theaters, clubs and all the services you will need.... in a controlled access (keyed entry) courtyard complex with old world Spanish flavor.

This unit has all appliances: Stove, Refrigerator, built in Microwave, Toaster, Coffee Maker, Electric Teapot, as well as A/C, WiFi & LIGHT WEEKLY MAID SERVICE TOO!

It's been updated (granite counters, maple cabinets), but still holds all of the 1920's Spanish style charm.

Parking is street parking, and as I've experienced, other than on street cleaning days (Monday and Tuesday on alternating sides between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM), there is usually a space available close to the building.

The unit also features an on site laundry room, cable television with, plus a CD and DVD player.

You are NOT moving into someone else's place while they are on vacation. This apartment is furnished and set up as a short or long term corporate/executive rental.

Utilities are entirely included.

***In deference to those with sensitivities, this is a No Smoking/No Pets Unit. Smoking is permitted outside the unit, of course***

Great place, great location, and great hospitality

I got in Thursday afternoon and I suppose to meet up w/ my gf at the airport (LAX) because she was flying in from Dallas. She got caught up in several delays due to severe storms. I called & emailed Herbert to give him the heads up about the whole situation since she had the money order on her to take care of our stay. He told me to meet him at the studio apartment because it didn't make since for me to stay at the airport waiting til pretty much midnight on her flight. That's when I knew I was dealing w/ a class act. most ppl won't let you if you didn't pay up. Herbert allowed me to check-in and he suggested that he'll come get the money order the next day if that will be good for me. The place was spotless and the wifi was great. vacation or not, I need wifi. That was also a plus for me. Location was great and the community is a friendly tourist type of community. I enjoyed every bit of it and Herbert was very attentive when I needed him. I will be back soon.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Wilcox apartments for a week in March and it was perfect for what we needed. We were traveling on a budget and were so happy to find a nice, clean, safe place to sleep for what we could afford. We walked all over the place, hiked in Runyon Canyon, walked to the Laurel Canyon Country Store (long walk but if you have good shoes makes for a nice outing), and around the touristy bits of Hollywood. Herbert was more than accommodating and just a genuinely nice man to deal with. He provided a binder full of information about the area from restaurants to try, rental car phone #'s, local attractions, etc. We never once felt like our safety was at risk, and the neighborhood was pretty quiet the whole time we were there. The tenants staying in the other apartments were respectful, quiet, and friendly. I'd recommend this place to anyone! Thanks Herbert! - Lauren & Adam

Awesome Place! Awesome Price!

My daughter & I just stayed here for a 5 days. Herbert is awesome! The kitchen was fully stocked & he even had a breakfast gift basket with coffee & cereal bars. The bed was very very comfortable. The shower has awesome water pressure and the hot water lasts a decent amount of time. The property felt very safe & was very clean. My daughter & I are small town people & were worried about staying in LA but the neighborhood was really cute. We didn't rent a car but I could always see lots of parking spaces & It's only a 10 min walk to the Hollywood Walk of Fame and close to several bus stops. There was a small problem with the toilet not flushing fully but Herbert had a plumber there within the hour! I would definitely stay here again. All the other places I found near by wanted way more money for was less service. Herbert YOU ROCK!!!!!!

bad experience

when we arrived the apartment was filthy , it took three days to clean it completely. then the owner has increased the price for the washer from a dollar to a dollar fifty. the toilet was not properly fastened and wobbled . at the end of our stay the owner would have had to come to take me back the deposit but not the owner came and waited for me to go back in Italy to tell me he had been holding eighty U.S. dollars deposit , because according to him the apartment was filthy. in the contract it was agreed that we would not have had to clean the room before we left, but we actually had left the apartment clean and more clean than when we arrived. he invented ridiculous excuses , like the fact that there were traces of mascara on the sheet and we had left food in the fridge , when in truth we had left only a pack of toast still not open. We have also left detergents to wash the floors and things that we were never reimbursed

Owner's Response: First of all I need to encourage my future potential guests to read my other reviews as this will clearly demonstrate the kind of host I am. About the points raised: 1) The agreement, readily available for review on the website, clearly states that the unit must be left in condition for the next guest. It is for this reason I DON'T charge a mandatory cleaning fee, 2) The average cost for off-site coin operated laundry facilities in the area is $1.75, 3) The toilet, once these guests toppled it off it's foundation (without informing me---I discovered it when doing the weekly linen change), was repaired within a few hours, 4) The deposit and rent were paid by the guest's mother, therefore the refund was due to her, not to him, 5) I contacted mama early on in the stay with concerns about the violation of rules (smoking inside the unit and other illustrations of disrespect, only to discover she knew only the name of the girlfriend, but had never met her, 6) Linens were not only stained, but the back up linens were used and some were missing upon guests departure, 7) Guest fails to mention the substantial and unsavory personal fluids and substances (documented in photos) deposited in and around the commode and left for me to deal with, 8) Cleaning supplies are provided under the kitchen sink cabinet, 9) Had a one room studio apartment taken three days to clean, the condition guest purports to have found it in upon arrival would hardly generate the reviews referenced earlier. In conclusion, this inquiry had a bad feeling from the start and I regret not honoring my gut and maintaining my original rejection of their request for accommodations.

Amazing Place with an even more Amazing Owner

I recently had the pleasure of spending two weeks at this beautiful studio in the heart of Hollywood and it lived up to and surpassed every one of my expectations. Here is a quick review of my stay and why I give it 5 stars and why it is now my choice spot to stay at when I am in the L.A. area.
1. When I arrived, Herbert was there to greet me with a smile and a helping hand. He walked me through the studio, made sure I had everything I needed and provided me a summary of the area.
2. The studio was in a great shape, clean and welcoming. The bathroom was spotless and the linens and surfaces were clean.
3. Here is where I started to really become impressed - the next morning, I noticed that the gate to the courtyard had somehow become jammed and the auto locking mechanism didn't work so the gate was not fully closing. By early that afternoon, I looked out the window from my desk where I was working and saw Herbert himself was there with tools to fix the gate. He obviously cares about not just his units but his guests and keeping his word as well.
4. The exterior courtyard is wonderful. It is bright and inviting and perfect to just relax and unwind.
5. Safety: I don't live in an urban area. I am used to suburbs so when I was planning my stay in Hollywood I wondered how I would feel about it. Needless to say, I felt very safe. At times when street parking was sparse and I had to park a couple blocks down the road late at night - I felt completely safe and secure. A police station is 2.5 blocks down the road which also helps with any jitters you may have about being in Hollywood late at night.
6. Location: its perfect. You are close enough to all the hot spots that you can walk to them and far enough away to not feel like your in the midst of a touristy crowd.

I can honestly say, I am a pretty picky person. I absolutely love this place. Part of it is the reliability and honesty of the owner, Herbert, who makes you feel at home and keeps his word. A great place, a great owner, affordable and perfect location. There really isn't any reason to stay anywhere else!

Owner's Response: I am definitely concerned with my guests safety and comfort, and am fortunate that I've been rewarded with predominantly respectful and friendly guests, of which Andy is a shining example. Generally when I'm on site I'm working, but had occasion to spend a few minutes relaxing by the fountain and engaging in conversation with him...will definitely welcome him back!

This neighborhood is fast becoming a 'walking' neighborhood, with most all of your needs being met without ever having to get behind the wheel (www.walkscore.com/CA/Los_Angeles/Hollywood)!

Sunset Boulevard is 6 blocks north (left as you exit the access gate onto Wilcox Avenue) of the property, and Hollywood Boulevard (which features the famous 'Walk of Fame' and Grauman's Chinese Theater, where the stars of yesteryear and yesterday have left their hand and foot prints in cement for us and for posterity) is 2 more blocks in the same direction.

You'll be walking toward the Hollywood Sign, which will come into view as you get past the CNN building that's blocking it from your front door.....

Located on Sunset, and its side street tributaries, you'll find restaurants of diverse proclivities, from vegetarian to carnivore and many in between.

FOOD WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE:

Umami Burger (1520 Cahuenga Blvd #7, 90028; 323-469-3100). Truffles are their not-so-secret ingredient. It's tricky to find because it's in....well, hard to describe the building it's in. If you walk east on Sunset (right turn if you're coming from Wilcox) then turn north (left) on Cahuenga, you'll encounter Space 15 Twenty, and within you'll find various shops and stores...and Umami Burger.

Stout (on Cahuenga), a patio bar/restaurant. They have an eclectic array of beers, AND a truffle burger.

Be sure to specify in both these places how you want your burger cooked as their default is medium rare.

Kitchen 24 (1608 N Cahuenga, 90028; 323-465-2424). It can be acoustically noisy (cement walls that magnify the sound if it's full of talkers), and features modern basic fare. If you're looking for an all around place, this one works.

Chicken Dijon Rotisserie & Grill (6282 Hollywood Blvd, 90028; 323-463-4050; www.chickendijon.com) has a wide choice of salads and wraps (upscale cafeteria; quick service and relatively healthy, tasty food) that are built around, as you might guess, chicken. Many 'locals' go here for lunch.

Urban Masala (6554 Hollywood Boulevard; 323-957-9999) features Indian cuisine and was recommended by a recent guest if you have a craving for curry.

The Melt (6290 Sunset Blvd, 90028; 213-344-4906) serves just what the name implies: Cheese sandwiches. I had the short rib on sourdough with black bean soup….delicious. Would definitively return.

La Numero Uno Restauraunt (1247 Vine Street; 323-957-1111) serves Latin cuisine. Highly recommended by a discerning guest and great reviews on Google, and well within walking distance, about 6 blocks east.

Starbucks (6102 W Sunset Blvd)

'Alcove' (casual) and 'Off Vine' (fine dining). I encourage you to check out the reviews on 'Yelp' for a more thorough report and location information on these establishments.

GROCERY STORES:

Trader Joes (1600 N Vine: .75 Miles--about 8 blocks), located at Selma and Vine (Selma is 1 block south of Sunset, Vine is 4 blocks east of Wilcox).

Ralph's Grocery (1233 N LaBrea: 1.1 miles; 5429 N Highland Ave: 1.1 miles)

OTHER:

Walgreens (5451 W Sunset Blvd: .99 miles; 1050 N Highland Ave: 1.03 miles)

On Sundays there is an open air Farmer's Market in the 1500 block of Ivar Avenue between Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards (left on Wilcox, right on Sunset) where you can get fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers. It is open between 8 AM. - 1 PM.

TRANSPORTATION:

To/From LAX Airport: Shuttletolax.com ($20 per person, flat rate); Super shuttle.com ($26 one person, $9.00 each additional person)

Zip car (1529 N Cahuenga; 323-866-4508) is an innovative company that rents cars for as little as $6.50 per hour. Great for those times when it’s too far to walk but you don’t necessarily need a vehicle full time. They have several pick up locations within blocks of the property.

Bikes and Hikes (323-796-8555; bikeshikes.com) offers bicycle and hiking tours of Hollywood, as well as renting bicycles for personal use.
