This traditional family house is in the beautiful Garfagnana region of Northern Tuscany, set in a valley between the Appenine and Apuane Mountains.

With 3 bedrooms and spectacular mountain views from the garden and surrounding meadow, this newly renovated, atmospheric old house is suitable for a large family or group of friends. There is an acre of meadow at the back of the house, from where you can enjoy swimming in a fine 10x4 metre pool which has a large sun deck and a fantastic view of the local mountain. At the foot of the meadow, under an impressive cedar tree, there is a tree house which can be enjoyed by children or adults alike.

The house is situated off the rural road to the village of Pianacci at the end of a private lane. There is an open outlook towards three other villages and the Pania di Corfino Mountain This is the only Alpine mountain in the Appenine range and is also famous for the Orrichiella National Park.

The house is well equipped and comfortably furnished, with traditional chestnut beamed ceilings and tiled floors. Upstairs the house has a double and two twin bedrooms, stone stairs and a large lounge with terracotta flooring, beamed ceiling and open fireplace. A glass door leads onto the balcony. Downstairs there is a large modern fully equipped kitchen with dining area leading on to a fine patio. There are 2 large shower/bathrooms one which has a glass door on to the balcony. The large sun patio and garden to the front of the house has outdoor furniture and is shaded, in part, by fruit trees.

Garfagnana is 'Hidden Tuscany' at its best. With its stunning scenery it is the best area in Tuscany for walking and outdoor activities. We have close ties with an Outdoor Activities company who offer many international class adventures.

Castelnuovo, the nearby market town, has many restaurants, cafes, bars, supermarkets and all other types of shops. There is a tourist information office and a weekly market selling a wide variety of fashion, household goods, flowers, fruit and vegetables.

Mountain biking, hill walking and horse riding are all available locally. The stables are 20 minutes walk.

There is a fine tennis court open to the public only 10 minutes walk, at the sports bar.

Fishing also available 5 minutes walk.

The area around the village of Villa Collemandina is without doubt one of the most beautiful parts of all Tuscany

The area is well known for its excellent value restaurants, using the best of local ingredients. A typical set lunch with 4 choices of pasta course, and 4 choices of main course costs only 9 euros inclusive of bread, wine and coffee. It is possible to have a multi-course traditional Sunday lunch or dinner with ample wine, coffee and liquers for less than 25 euros.

Garfagnana is the best area in Tuscany for walking.

We have links with an outdoor activities company who offer guided walks and climbing, mountain biking, canoeing and world class gorge walking.

The local market town of Castelnuovo with good shops is only 4 miles away.

From Pisa to Lucca, then North to Castelnuovo. Exact directions given. English speaking Mini-bus taxi available for airport or local trips.

Notes: The kitchen is new and well equipped. Large circular table on patio seating 8 comfortably. Other sitting areas at front of house and in garden. Good selection of English books and board games available. Pool is 10 mtres long by 4 metres wide. There is a large sun deck area with view and outdoor furniture. Large patio to front of house with outside balcony terrace and an acre of meadow to the back.

“Nice property, impressive view, perfect swimming

We really liked our two-week stay at Casa Natalina. The house is situated in a quiet environment, and you really live in Italy without seeing tourists every day. The swimming pool is cleaned twice a week, and has beautifull views. Our children (7 and 10) loved picking and eating figs in the garden. WiFi was fast and reliable, so you can be online and connected to the world if you like. The TV had about 70 channels, although all in Italian, but we did not miss watching TV at all. We all slept very well in the good and clean beds. The owner provides the house with a lot of towels, so there is no need to bring your own. The house is large enough for 6 people (we were 4). The weather in July 2012 was excellent to swim each day for many hours.
