The best place to stay in Barbados if you like surf, sun, and relaxation.

I've been all over the Caribbean and other beach vacation spots (St. John, St. Martin, Nevis, Anguilla, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Nassau, Belize, Aruba, Cayman, etc.) and have decided that Barbados is the place to go (we just booked our next visit which will be our 4th year in a row). Part of the reason that I love Barbados is where we stay - The Crane. It is on the eastern side of the island which has some unique advantages: (i) the wind is always blowing so you have that Caribbean permatemp (always comfortable), (ii) the surf is awesome if you like to jump in the waves and go body surfing, (iii) the panoramic views are stunning and the beach is really one of the best that I have been to, (iv) it is the less developed part of the island so you can either totally relax or go our for an adventure, and (v) you can get anything that you need at the resort (restaurants, little grocery store), or, you can take a quick ride to other sites on the island.
In addition to the resort, we really like Jim's unit. It faces the surf and overlooks the pools (a really nice view both in the daylight and at night when the pools are lit up). You've got that permatemp wind blowing through the unit so you never get hot. The furniture is made of dark cherry wood and is very comfortable. We had everything that we needed in the unit to cook or just lounge around. My favorite part of the unit was the balconies where I could listen to the surf, drink a cold Banks beer, and RELAX!!
Jim is a great guy to work with and is very accommodating. We are looking forward to renting from him again in the future.
If you go: (i) eat as many flying fish sandwiches as you can, (ii) enjoy your Banks beer and run punch, (iii) do as much body surfing as you can, (iv) drive a loop around the island, and (iv) stay at Jim's place.
