|Property type||chateau / country house|
|Minimum Stay||4 - 7 nights|
The main house is set on a very secluded ridge overlooking a 17 acre field, beautiful pond, and the Catskill Mountains. The sunsets each evening are spectacular. There are 4-bedrooms, 3-full/1-half bathrooms in the main house. A large sunny living room is perfect for catching up on your reading or chatting with family and friends. A large, open dining area with center island kitchen lets you prep dinner while socializing too. A TV/movie room offers HD TV, surround-sound stereo, DVD player, game table, fireplace, and expansive views of the pond and mountains. There's an upstairs library area with desk (in case that one last email needs to get sent). Wireless extends throughout the house to the pool area.
Upstairs is an expansive and luxurious master bedroom with sitting area, private balcony, and an incredible view to wake up to - also en-suite large master bath, with two person shower that doubles as a steam room. There are two other warm, private bedrooms each with their own bathroom (one up and one downstairs). And there's a loft bedroom on a third level for the adventurous!
Just outside the main house you'll find a trellis-covered patio, with grill and two picnic tables, a swing...the perfect setting for a summer grill out. Around the corner, past the herb garden, is another private patio area overlooking the pond with Adirondack chairs--ideal for enjoying your morning coffee, or a sip of wine at the end of the day.
The pool house includes a painter's studio, a cedar sauna, a work-out area with cardio equipment, weights and a half- bathroom. Upstairs, a fully accommodated apartment, with complete kitchen, full bath, cozy bedroom and a child bed and couch in the living area--perfect for a small family or couple to set up shop. The apartment's balcony looks out over the pool and offers a spectacular view of the Catskill mountains.
There's also a large yard out front, big enough for a game of touch football, Frisbee or working on the short game.
In the pool area you'll find an elegant, deep blue gunite pool surrounded by bluestone tiles authentic to the region, Smith & Hawken lounge chairs, and a dining table and chairs that easily seats 10.
The location, the setting, the seasons, the river, the sunsets.
Extremely private, luxurious estate that allows you to feel completely away from it all - yet still get to town within 10 minutes for some of the best dining in the country.
Easy access from NYC by train or car.
What an amazing, cozy home for an extended family! Our group of 8 adults and 4 small kiddos (ages 1-7) had plenty of space to relax, play, and enjoy each other in the week following Christmas.
The main room was full of windows and comfy couches and chairs. A great room for playing with new toys!
The TV room was a great puzzle and game room, and the fireplace was glorious.
The outdoor fire pit was perfect for smores, and the outdoor swing was enjoyed by many. The kids enjoyed the short walk down the hill to the half-frozen pond, where they hunted for fish and frogs.
The kitchen and pantry area had the basic things we needed for baking and cooking meals, and we all sat comfortably at the long farmhouse-style dining room table.
Each bedroom had its own character and, importantly, its own bathroom, two with wonderful tubs. All rooms were comfortable, large enough for a crib/pack n' play, and the mattresses were great!
The guesthouse was enjoyed by the grandparents - a perfect place to get away from the chaos.
All in all a perfect holiday retreat with plenty of space for a large family. Thank you to the homeowners for such a great rental option. Looking forward to returning for another family reunion!
Oh my goodness, what an amazing property. Rented for our large family as a home base during a hectic week of graduation events. Wish we had had no other commitments because we would have NEVER LEFT here! Incredible views, warm character and decor and fantastic pool. Plenty of beds for all, comfy couches to snuggle on, hills to roll down and bull frogs to listen to at night. Owners were attentive and personable. Above and beyond. Tip for future guests - bring your own shampoo, conditioner etc. Not a single complaint about this gorgeous home. We will be back, soon!
This is a beautiful, well-maintained, and very comfortable house to stay in. There are zero complaints; it is even better than the pictures reflect; and you'll be a star if you book it!
It is roomier than the pictures would suggest. The main house has a very comfortable and large great room, dining room, and open kitchen which make for a great group space, plus the living room in the back of the house with fireplace and extremely comfortable couches. The main house has three bedrooms fit for families/couples, plus a loft (up a ladder) which can comfortably fit 4 adults. The additional house (studio) has a bedroom for a family or couple plus a private front room for sleeping as well. There are many more areas where people can sleep on foldouts or futons as well. Late sleepers may want to stay in the additional house since noise travels in the main house.
Stereo system is fantastic. Kitchen fully stocked. Fireplace great. Abundant blankets, sheets, towels.
The owners are very responsive and accommodating and were willing to compromise and discuss each part of making the deal together.
You will not be disappointed staying here. If you're the organizer of your group or family getaway, book this house so that your friends/family will be really psyched. They'll love it.
House was amazing ... pool incredible, grounds and views spectacular, and really great location to town and attractions all around. The owners were quick to respond to any and all questions that came up. We would definitely recommend this house to friends.
My family really enjoyed our recent stay at this lovely home in the Hudson River Valley over the holidays. The house is spectacular! We were amazed at the house and surrounding land when first arriving on site. There is a large pond, beautiful tree-lined driveway, and a great hill in the backyard for sledding.
We were met at the house by a friend of the owners who gave us a tour, showed us how to use all the equipment (including the stereo that is wired throughout, the fireplace, and the radiant heat controls) which made for a very smooth first day!
The house was very spacious and accommodated our family of 8 well! The entire downstairs has an open floor plan with a living room, dinning room, and kitchen. The furniture was comfortable and in perfect condition; the windows were beautiful for watching the sunsets and the wildlife on the property. We especially loved the heated floors for those cold winter mornings!
The kitchen was stocked with all the major appliances, pots & pans, dishes, cups and silverware which made cooking a breeze! The family room/tv room had an amazing fireplace, cozy couch, and the cabinets were stocked with tons of great board games.
The bedrooms were all comfortable and clean and there were plenty of bathrooms fully stocked with towels and toilet paper. We also rented the adjacent pool-house which has a fully-furnished apartment, and is also well insulated and heated.
Working with Megan and Patrick (owners) was a very pleasant experience. They were incredibly accommodating and responsive to our emails and inquiries and were available for questions via telephone. They provided us with information for activities in the surrounding area and very thorough guidelines to maximize our experience in the home.
Overall, the experience was amazing; we strongly would recommend the house to anyone looking for the charm of a bed & breakfast in the comfort of your own private chateau.
The Hudson River Valley. The beauty that inspired the Hudson River School of painting. Rolling hills, winding two lane country roads, sunsets on the river, farms feeding local restaurants and farmers markets, horse country, beautiful Hudson River river estates of the Vanderbilts, Roosevelts, and Livingstons, The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park fueling/elevating the quality of every local restaurant. All of it just minutes away, or maybe we'll just stay home today and sit by the pool.
