I would like to welcome you to my home: a traditional New Orleans cottage in the heart of New Orleans,1/2 Block Off Magazine Street and the Garden District, five blocks from St. Charles Avenue for Mardi Gras parades, and street car transportation down to the French Quarter or Uptown.

You will have no need for a rental car...I actually ejoy walking more myself. You can walk everywhere in this beautiful historic area! Enjoy the smell of the blooming sweet olive trees or the magnolias. Or let the famous traditional New Orleans homes steal your heart.

This 850 square foot New Orleans camel back shotgun cottage is a two bedroom, one bathroom cottage. You will be surprised how spacious it is.

My home is within short walking distance of many coffee shops, pubs, restaurants, art galleries, clothing boutiques, food markets, and specialty shops on Magazine Street. This is where the locals go and you will truly get a feel for what New Orleans is all about.

My cottage has an open floor plan with plenty of light. The second bedroom is a loft-style room for adults to enjoy. About Lisa Stutz

I am a California native that fell in love with New Orleans and moved here after the storm. I have a job that keeps me in the Netherlands 3/4 of the year. My house is in such a great location and is so unique that I just can't fathom selling it.

My friends told me about VRBO so I've been offering my home to others who want to experience this great city of New Orleans.

Lisa Stutz purchased this house in 2012

Why Lisa Stutz chose Irish Channel

My home is a traditional two story camel back shotgun cottage two blocks from New Orleans' famous Garden District and five blocks from St. Charles Avenue. The master bedroom is located above the kitchen and there is a loft above the living room. If you truly want to experience New Orleans like the locals, this is the area to stay.

What makes this house unique

The property is very fun and unique. It was built in 1932 and has been remodeled and updated within the last 10 years. It has a relaxing feel that is wonderful to enjoy after a day of touring around the City. You can stroll the Garden District streets a dusk and see how the local community enjoys this special part of America.

The house has a security system that is monitored 24/7 and is located in a safe neighborhood so you'll feel very secure. It has keyless entry so you'll never have to worry about forgetting your keys.

I have a sweet 40' 1080 HDTV, stereo, Blu-ray player, super fast WIFI, washer/dryer, central AC, back patio deck with built in seating, quaint front bench, and so much more.

Besides being a fantastically unique little cottage, you are two houses off one of the best parts of Magazine Street in New Orleans. You are steps from the Garden District, walking distance from the Lower Garden District, and walking distance from the Street Cars that can take you all over New Orleans, including the French Quarter, Uptown, and Audubon Park.

Jazzfest Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family rented this property for a five-night stay during Jazzfest. It was perfect for four people, including our two 17-year old teenagers. The house was spotless, well-equipped and in excellent condition (including central air-conditioning and easy-to-operate alarm/keyless entry system. It was a perfect way to experience New Orleans, in a traditional shotgun house in an amazing location - steps from Magazine Street which is loaded with shops and restaurants and very convenient to public transportation. The #11 bus-stop is literally just a few feet from the house and the lovely St. Charles streetcar just a few blocks away. You do not need a car.

Perfect family home base in NOLA

  • 5 of 5

Repeating what many others have said here, but Cottage Delachaise was the perfect home base for our family of 3. There were tons of great restaurant and shopping options nearby, plus extremely easy access to the Magazine St 11 bus and the St. Charles streetcar. The house was clean, well-appointed, and generally fairly quiet. As others have mentioned, the stairs could be tough for little kids or folks with bad knees, but we loved it (and our 7-year-old was completely in love with the loft bedroom and spiral staircase). Would definitely stay here again if we're lucky enough to get another trip back to New Orleans.

A Fantastic Piece of NOLA

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough good things about this property. If you are looking for the "live like a local" experience then this is your place!! I lived in New Orleans in a place almost just like this one and it made me so homesick for NOLA. You are in the middle of ALL of the action on Magazine, St. Charles Avenue is an easy walk and if you want to go down town you can catch the streetcar on St. Charles or the number 11 bus that goes right by the house! I never had to move my car the entire 4 days I was in town. It was like old times! There was plenty enough room for adult married couples. The facilities were well kept and functional, and Lisa (the owner) was incredibly nice. Thank you for letting us stay!!

Perfect location, perfect house

  • 5 of 5

I more or less lived in New Orleans for 5 years, so I am very familiar with the city. I came to New Orleans with my boyfriend and my parents met us there for a wedding I was in. The house was even more perfect of location than I realized. It was right off of Magazine in the most ideal place to be on Magazine with a grocery store a block away and plenty of restaurants and bars within 4 blocks. It isn't right on one of the main cross streets of Magazine/St Charles though so you don't have the crazy side traffic. We also walked maybe 10 minutes to St Charles to take the street car to and from the quarter on Friday night. The house is perfect for 4 adults, and/or teenage children. However I do agree with the spiral staircase being a little sketchy for small children. We never used the pull out downstairs but it seemed more than equipped enough for children. The house is ideal and perfect, and Lisa was so wonderful to move the schedule around with the maid and even let us check in a day early. I actually mentioned to my parents that if this house were up for rent, I would move back to New Orleans and live in it!
