We love that Tahoe is such a great place to be in both the summer and the winter. During the winter months we love to ski and in the summer we enjoy mountain biking, hiking and getting out on the lake for water sports and swimming. The nearby Truckee river is also great for a leisurely raft down.
You will really appreciate the attention to design, the layout and how solid the house is without feeling overwhelmed.
We look forward to having you stay at our property, you are very welcome quests and we wish you as much enjoyment from this place that we have.
Anna Anderson purchased this house in 1989
We chose this property because of it's location, it is on the sunny side of Alpine Meadows which makes a huge difference in the winter for creating a cosy and warm home. We also love the attention to aesthetics that went into planning the Juniper Mountain community, the homes are all on large lots giving good privacy between homes and there are no unsightly overhead power cables. Being located on the ridge that separates Squaw Valley from Alpine Meadows gives easy access for hiking in Squaw Valley as well as Alpine Meadows.
Our family spent New Year's holiday at this immaculate house. The location is very convenient, only a short drive to Alpine Meadows and Squaw. The entire house is tastefully decorated and the kitchen very well-equipped. There was plenty of room for everyone to hangout, relax and lounge around. It was a luxurious experience.
The house is very vertical with lots of stairs, so expect to make multiple trips moving stuff up to the house from garage. We didn't mind because the house is so great!
The communication with the host was excellent. She answered all our questions promptly and was very accommodating. Overall first class customer service!
Our family just returned from an amazing ski vacation at this lovely vacation home and I would recommend it to anyone considering staying in the North Lake Tahoe Area. The home itself is very nicely decorated and has all the modern conveniences one looks for in a vacation home (big screen tv, sound system, hot tub, wood and gas fireplaces, large modern kitchen, spacious bedrooms, washer/dryer,etc). The pictures on the website do not do the home justice and we found it very clean, well maintained and user friendly. It is a very short drive to both the Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley ski resorts with other skiing options (Homewood, Northstar, Sugar Bowl) nearby as well. Although Squaw Valley is more well known, we preferred Alpine Meadows given its shorter lift lines and great terrain (it is also the closest to the house!). The house is also conveniently located to the towns of Truckeee and Tahoe City if you want to take a day off to do some shopping/sightseeing, etc, There are also a number of good dining options nearby. The owners of the house are extremely friendly and responded to all our inquiries and requests on a very timely basis. When we arrived late in the evening, the owner ensured we had breakfast supplies available for the next morning. I could give several other examples of their generosity with us. I certainly agree with the previous comment that they truly care about your vacation experience.
Our group stayed at this property over Christmas and New Year’s 2011/12.
We were 8 in total, 6 adults and 2 children aged 14 and 16.
What we enjoyed most about staying at this property were the thoughtful touches that the owner had made – the ingredients and recipe for mulled wine were left on the kitchen counter as a gift on arrival – the result was absolutely delicious and very warming. The house was also tastefully decorated with Christmas ornaments, we were asked by the owners prior to arrival if we wanted to have a Christmas tree at the house, we elected not to as one of our group has allergies and the log burning fire place was enough to give a great Christmas ambiance.
Snow was on the lighter side for Tahoe when we stayed, the advantage of this though was the ski lift lines were non existent and we could get straight on a chair after finishing a run. There was enough terrain to keep everyone amused for a few days of skiing and the mild conditions allowed us to get in other activities like hiking around the lake which was beautiful.
We would definitely return to this property as the place is excellent and the owners very thoughtful of our needs.
Had a fantastic weekend staying at this beautiful home. Is a great location, being so close to Alpine Meadows. We managed to make it onto the slopes for the last day of the season, then enjoyed a hike through the woods to see Squaw valley. Then back for margaritas on the deck before the sun went down, followed by a soak in the hot tub. Perfect! We highly recommend this lovely home, it has completely exceeded our expectations and we hope to return one day.
I've stayed at this place several times over the past few years in all seasons. The owner (John and now John and Anna) are absolutely wonderful people and truly care about your experience in this beautifully redone home. There is comfortable space for nearly a dozen people to live (more can be entertained with ease) with a large living room (fire place rocks) and a large kitchen with island that is perfect for entertaining. The multilevel setup is nice too; can have simultaneous different vibes. Everything is done up pretty nicely. The BBQ is top notch; the hot tub is a nice addition and the decks make great chill spaces. If the garages are not occupied, they make great staging areas for gear etc. The house is super close to Squaw and if its dry out, Mtn bike trails too. Its pretty hard to beat this spot. I'll be going back!
