KaCee's Retreat is perfect for larger families or groups! Just steps from the ocean, it features 3 decks, a six person hot tub, hammock, wooden swing, outdoor shower with hot and cold water, gas grill, fish cleaning table, wireless internet, off street parking, and much more. All 5 bedrooms have TV's with VCR's. The 1st floor, with 1 twin bedroom and 1 pyramid bunk with trundle bedroom connected by a full bath, is perfect for children. The 1st floor also has a beverage cooler and extra ice maker in the hall. The 2nd floor features 2 queen bedrooms connected by a full bath, and a master bedroom with a full bath. The bedrooms on this floor have ceiling fans, and all of the bedrooms feature large closets. You'll arrive to find all the beds made up with fresh, professionally laundered linens for your convenience. The washer, dryer, and an extra refrigerator are also located on the 2nd floor. A high chair, Pack N Play, ironing board, and iron are stored in the hall closet. On the top floor, you'll find the living area with a big screen TV, sound system, and DVD player. The large dining table seats 8 with additional seating for 4 at the bar. The kitchen has plenty of counter space and storage, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, electric stove, microwave, and broiler oven. It's well stocked with a coffee maker, electric can opener, blender, crock pot, hand mixer, electric griddle, 2 sets of dishes, and plenty of pots and pans. All major kitchen appliances are new in 2014. The half bath is also located on this floor. The top deck, opening off the dining/living area, has a table and chairs for 4 and 2 lounges. If you're an early riser, have your morning coffee and watch the gorgeous sunrise over the ocean. Relax in the evening and watch the reflection of the setting sun on the water, and the moonrise. Music lovers will enjoy listening to their favorite songs on the outdoor speakers. Most days you can see dolphins, and the brown pelicans are usually out diving for fish. The hot tub and hammock are located on the lower deck, with access from 2 of the bedrooms, including the master bedroom. This deck also offers an unobstructed view of the ocean and outdoor speakers. Just across Rt. 12, within walking distance, is a convenience store that has delicious hand-dipped ice cream during the summer season. Next door to the convenience store is a very nice little surf shop that offers surf lessons. The major grocery store on the island, Food Lion, is about 17 miles south in Avon.

About Mary LeCates

My husband, Danny, and I have lived in the same small town in Delaware all our lives. We share our home with a lab, Luke, and a stray we adopted named Foster. Our 2 children and 5 grandchildren live nearby.

Mary LeCates purchased this house in 2009

Why Mary LeCates chose Rodanthe

KaCee's Retreat is our dream come true! We love to spend time here with our children, grandchildren, and chocolate lab, Luke. We first vacationed on Hatteras Island about 12 years ago and instantly fell in love with the area. When we stayed in Rodanthe 3 years ago, we knew we had found the perfect vacation spot! We decided to take the leap and make our dream of owning a beach house a reality. We sincerely hope that our guests enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of Hatteras Island as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

We love that KaCee's Retreat is so close to the beach and has fantastic views of the ocean. With our large family, the 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms are a big plus! Our favorite things to do are walking on the beach looking for unusual shells and sea glass, and just relaxing and watching the ever-changing ocean.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This home worked out really well for us. We loved the hammock, the views of the ocean, and the floorplan was perfect. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, and utensils. I wish the grill would have been working, but otherwise, just right!

Ideal Beach House in Rodanthe, NC

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Kacee's Retreat located on the beach in Rodanthe, NC. Mornings we hung on the deck enjoying a cup of coffee while dolphins swam by. Afternoons we soaked up the sun on the beach, collecting sea shells or flying kites. Evenings meant grilling or cooking in the well-stocked kitchen, then beach campfires with a perfect moonlit sky reflecting on the ocean. Plenty of comfy beds and bathrooms. Lots of decks for viewing the sunrise and sunset. Drinks in the hot tub. When can I move in?

My group and I had a wonderful time staying at this property! Everything was well stocked and supplied for, the owners were very kind and helpful and the weather was simply perfect the whole week. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone looking for a relaxing week in the beautiful Outer Banks area! Thank you very much for allowing us to stay there and we would definitely stay again!

Perfect Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here with a group for a week and had an amazing time! The photos of the house honestly DO NOT do it justice! Upon our arrival the house was spotless and instantly felt like home. The kitchen was big enough to have several people cooking in it at the same time, and the second fridge helped to store all the food for 12 people. The house is incredibly spacious with enough room for everyone to spread out. The decks were great, and the hot tub was in frequent use on the clear Rodanthe nights. The beach is literally 30 yards away from your front door, which simply can't be beat. Head out for the early morning sun, walk back to the house in under 3 minutes for lunch, and be back out on in the sun. The only problem we faced was the oven stopped working half way during our stay. We contacted the property management company and they said there would be no way to get a replacement during our stay, which really limited our dining options (ended up cooking everything on the propane grill.) That being said, our only problem during our stay was the property management company. The owners themselves are fantastic and a pleasure to work with. We will be staying here again!

Kacee's Retreat the perfect beach house

  • 5 of 5

Everything was as stated in the ad. We had some problems do to our own misunderstanding which were quickly resolved. The beach is wonderful in Rodanthe. The house is the most beautiful beach house. We watched the surf from the hot tub on the porch. Life is good at Kacee's Retreat.

The location was great.the utensils and appliances were not in good condition.its hard to get someone to call you back when you have trouble with things.the gas grill was in disrepair and disgusting. They never came to check hot tub in middle of the week .We had to call to tell them the hot tub was low on water someone came and gave us a hose to fill it ourselves.it was very spacious and a nice view.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry that this guest feels that KaCee's Retreat did not meet his expectations. However, I am puzzled by some of the complaints. The refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, and dryer are all new within the last 6 months. The washer is less than 2 years old. There is an older extra refrigerator on the 2nd floor. I arrived the day this guest departed and everything was clean and in good condition. I spoke to the property manager and he related to me that he had taken the hose to the guest and given him the choice of having the manager fill the hot tub or filling it himself. The guest was very pleasant and offered to fill it himself. The manager said he wasn't aware of any problems or complaints during this guest's stay. It is the policy of the hot tub service that no one will enter the house to service the hot tub unless someone is at the house. This is because the hot tub is only accessible by going through a bedroom. I would like to talk to this guest to try to investigate his complaints but he has not responded.

Doesn't get much better than this

Great family vacation with 8 adults and 4 kids ages 3 to 15 in a home that never seemed crowded. From fun on the beach or relaxing in the hot tub to exploring all the Outer Banks has to offer, there was plenty to do for all. This vacation home is located less than 200 feet from the ocean with good views of the water. What you see in the photos is what you get. You wont be disappointed when you arrive. The kitchen area is very well stocked with all you'll ever need and the 3 refrigerators will hold all the food and drink you bring or buy. The house was clean when we arrived and the owner has done a great job upgrading and maintaining the property. I have to give the owner 10 STARS for customer service. I initiated this rental about 54 weeks in advance and she was great thru all our dealings. All correspondences (questions, concerns, ect) were addressed and replyed to quickly. All this made for a great family vacation. If you’re looking for a laid back vacation in a very comfortable home, you can find it here.
