A village colonial, built in 1890, our home is located in the Woods Hole Historical District, overlooking the harbor. It is a warm and comfortable home, casual, with original art and sturdy antiques. There are four spacious, newly-renovated bedrooms, three newly renovated bathrooms and a modern, newly-built kitchen with Viking gas stove, Bosch dishwasher and Sub-zero refrigerator. The front of the house has lawn and gardens and a very large 3-season wrap-around porch, part screened, part open, and looks out at the harbor. The master bedroom, also newly-built, looks onto a large terrace, beyond which lies a lovely heated swimming pool with its own smaller terrace, gardens, parkland and wooded hills. Adjacent to the larger terrace is a brand-new outdoor shower and hot tub, as well as a gas grill. A kayak is available for your use.
Long-time Massachusetts residents, we live full-time in Woods Hole, enjoying each and every season to the fullest.
Years ago our family began to spend summers in Woods Hole as part of the scientific community. We fell in love with Woods Hole and when we finished teaching we couldn't bear to leave!
Unique benefits of this home and location are innumerable: the house and gardens are lovely, the heated pool allows swimming from April through October, and the morning walk along the beautiful harbor to get that first cup of coffee at Pie in the Sky is such a pleasure!
Coffee shops, sandy beaches, tennis courts, a wonderful playground, churches, village shops, post office and library, and terrific restaurants are all within a five to ten-minute walk. Our immediate neighborhood, though, is almost country-like, peaceful and quiet. Best of both worlds!
In the southwest corner of Cape Cod, Woods Hole is near Martha's Vineyard and the Elizabeth Islands. Much of Woods Hole centers around the enclosed harbor of Eel Pond. A drawbridge at the mouth of the harbor allows boats to enter and exit the harbor
Our village is the site of several famous marine science institutions, including Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, the Marine Biological Laboratory, and the ferry between Cape Cod and the island of Martha's Vineyard, all accessible to visitors.
The local lighthouse (visitors welcome) at nearby Nobska Point has a view across the Nantucket Sound of Martha's Vineyard, and at its foot, a private sandy beach available for you to use. The Knob is another local destination: a rocky outcropping that overlooks beautiful sandy beaches in Buzzards Bay and Quisset Harbor, a Salt Pond bird sanctuary, and is open to visitors and their dogs.
The annual Falmouth Road Race brings world-class (and not) runners to Woods Hole in August each year
So, come to Cape Cod in New England, and enjoy a lovely Spring, Summer or Fall in our gorgeous and unique coastal village.
