ELEGANT HISTORIC 3BED/2BATH HOME IN HISTORIC ST. CHARLES- 6 GUEST MAXIMUM

St. Charles House Rental Photos and Description

Spacious Second Empire French style 3 bed, 2 bath in quiet Historic District

L'auberge ('the inn') St. Charles, circa 1868 Second Empire French home contributing to the National Register Historic Frenchtown District. Recently underwent a complete restoration saving original doors, wavy glass transom windows and beautiful woodwork while adding a full gourmet kitchen, beautiful bathrooms and high end furnishings. You get the best of both worlds; the quaintness of a bed and breakfast with the comfort and privacy of a fully furnished home. Located in the quiet, Frenchtown District of old town St. Charles, yet still within walking distance of all the shops, restaurants, historic sites and festivities of Main Street, Steel Shop Indoor Tennis Club, Missouri Riverfront and Katy Trail and just 8 miles to St. Louis Lambert Airport and only twenty minutes to St. Louis. Within a scenic 40 min. drive to many of Missouri's award winning wineries. Come see why picturesque St. Charles is nicknamed 'the Williamsburg of the Midwest'

This home includes secure off street parking, outdoor gas grill and comfortably furnished covered back porch area. Inside, the main floor has a large living room with large flatscreen TV, game table and desk: full bathroom with tub/shower; large dining room that seats six; and the kitchen has cherry cabinets, stone countertops, gas range with warming drawer, dishwasher, Keurig coffeemaker, micro, full sized ref/fzr, toaster, mixer, blender and more. Plus, full sized laundry equipment is tucked in a closet.

Upstairs are three bedrooms; The king bed room has a hand painted Missouri River scene headboard, reading area and flat-screen TV with DVD player. The queen bed room also has a reading dormer and TV with DVD player. The equally beautiful, albeit smaller, full bed room has an antique brass bed. All have ultra comfortable cool gel foam mattresses, luxury linens and hardwood floors with access to the large bath with antique claw-foot soaking tub. We also provide luxury bath salts and soaps from Herbaria.

Interior designer and sales manager during the week and historic property restorers on the weekends, the guest house is our sixth project in St. Charles, this is our only guest house in St. Charles. We do, however have another guest property in Panama City Beach, Florida (see #125313). We live one block away, so we're usually 'on site' managers to assure a wonderful stay.

Ed Akers purchased this house in 2010

We bought this property in our continued effort to restore and improve our historic neighborhood. It took over a year to complete the rehab and all of the approvals that St. Charles required to open the first guest house in historic Frenchtown.

We had long admired the beautiful Mansard roof windows, pretty front porch woodwork and large lawn of this house in our neighborhood. When it came up for sale, we immediately purchased it thinking we would move into it ourselves and only after it was mostly redone did we decide to turn it into a vacation house. So, it has high end finishes and accents that are seldom seen in guest houses. The rooms are large with tall ceilings with cherry hardwood flooring throughout and all of its original ornate woodwork. The covered back porch is a favorite spot to relax and we know you'll love it as much as we do!

PERFECT PLACE TO STAY WHILE VISITING THE ST.LOUIS AREA

  • 5 of 5
Spent the July 4th weekend with our 2 adult children in L'Auburge. Exactly as shown in the pictures. Clean, comfortable & elegant. We felt completely safe and at home. The home was well stocked with comfort in mind - too many thoughtful details to list here. This will be our first choice for subsequent visits to the area.

PERFECT VACATION HQ

  • 5 of 5
Recommend this guest house for a family visit.
My wife and I reserved this home for a family reunion/national dance competition. The house was great for us. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, (never ran out of hot water) took care of us all. We were even able to entertain friends and relatives that were staying in local hotels.
Although on a main street for St. Charles and near a flight path for the airport it was really quiet inside and comfortable in the back yard.
The washer & dryer were right there to refresh the towels etc. midweek. And a kitchen that became the center for activity. The gas stove was beautiful, everything in the kitchen worked like new. Grocery store about a mile away for those things you didn't think to bring. Plenty of plates, but only three packets of dishwashing detergent, could have been more for weeks stay.
The convention center for the dance competition was close and easy to get too. The Historic Main Street has lots of shops to peruse and even more bars and restaurants. We were so busy visiting venues in St. Louis I didn't really get to see the park and historic sites in St. Charles, we'll just have to come back.
The owners maintained excellent communication via email from making the reservation to giving us information about entering the house on arrival. They responded quickly to all our questions.
They should be very proud proud of this property. I am looking forward to seeing if they have a single bedroom property for our return.

FELT RIGHT AT HOME!

  • 5 of 5
We had a family girls get-a-way weekend and absolutely loved our stay here! We felt right at home in this cozy spot in St. Charles. Close enough that it's only a 5 minute car ride to downtown, but far enough that it was quaint and quiet. We enjoyed sitting on the back patio and sipping wine from the local wineries and catching up. You guys have thought of everything when it comes to amenities, maps and restaurant menus available. My aunts are already talking about coming back!

THIS WAS OUR FIRST TIME TO SAINT CHARLES AND WE LOVED IT AND THE HOUSE!

  • 5 of 5
Cutest town and house ever! Loved the tasteful décor and the wonderful kitchen. The house was immaculate and we loved the spacious rooms and comfy beds. We had plenty of room to relax after the days' waundering around Main Street. The town is full of quaint shops, restaurants and the park along the river is beautiful. I took time for myself with a soak in the clawfoot tub- very relaxing! We would highly recommend this property.

Four senior ladies absolutely loved our week in this home and would gladly return. The only caveat would be that thee stairs to the second floor are not easily navigated as they are very steep.

Owner's Response: We enjoyed having you and 'the girls'! And, ah yes, we are graced with those beautiful 11' tall ceilings, but alias (as WE well know) it adds to the second floor climb! To think they used those stairs over a hundred and fifty years ago wearing long dresses with full petticotes while carrying a baby. What a feat!

BEAUTIFUL

  • 5 of 5
The house was beautiful! Decorated very tastefully. I hope to have an opportunity to rent again as I really enjoyed my stay. Road along the Katy trail which was just a short walk away. Downtown St. Charles is also within walking distance. Looking for a place to stay? Search no farther. Both Ed and Chris live close by and it was a pleasure to meet and talk with them. Hope to see them again and enjoy their beautiful house.
