AMOR DEL LAGO is a brand-new, colorful, comfortable, secluded, Eco-friendly cabana just outside of Pucon, the adventure capital of the Chilean Lake District. We are located four hours north of Patagonia, in the foothills of the majestic Villarrica Volcano, in Southern Chile, the “Switzerland of South America.” We call this special retreat, Amor del Lago (Love of the Lake) and you will love it, too! This charming cottage is nestled into a forested hillside, the exceptional panoramic view of the entire lake and peninsula is captivating. Pucon’s Black Forest architecture, delicious kuchen, and melt-in-your-mouth chocolate will make you feel like you’re in the Alps!
Our cedar-colored cabana with its green metal roof, picture windows and doors, and raised terrace deck overlooks the expansive vista of Lake Villarrica, surrounding forest and mountains, and our verdant sheep pasture. As you enter AMOR, you will be greeted by an open living/dining room and kitchen with high ceilings, exposed pine beams, elegant yet comfy furniture, and a farmhouse-style dining nook. You will be bathed in light and the welcoming colors of nature: apple green, sky blue, and lemon yellow faux-painted walls. The rustic ceramic tile floor and a radiant wood stove that heats not only the cabana, but the water for the radiators in the two view bedrooms and bathroom.
The cheery yellow, open-style kitchen is built around a large and beautiful, stainless-steel, farmhouse sink brought from the U.S. The stained-wood, stylish cabinets feature hammered sunburst and hearts tin inserts of Amish design. The Bosch gas stove with Trotter hood, energy-efficient G.E. dishwasher, the Eco-rated LG refrigerator, and Eco-friendly washer-dryer will bring the familiarity and convenience of home. The compact, yet carefully-designed kitchen has everything you need to prepare delicious meals and to enjoy the fabulous view while cooking and cleaning up. Enjoy a delicious home-cooked Chilean meal or a pre- or post dinner “copa de vino” on our lovely deck.
The colorful, hand-woven, ethnic hangings and rugs come straight from the Bedouins in Egypt, as well as the romantic, silver, filigree lamp over the dining room table. Argentinian stainless steel ceiling fans throughout our house will keep you cool in the temperate summer of Southern Chile. Magazine-quality photos of mouth-watering food and exotic travel destinations will delight the senses. Lounge in our side-by-side Rosen leather reclining couch as you sink into a great book, laze by a cozy fire, enjoy an engrossing video, or soak up R and R after a day of hiking, climbing Volcan Villarrica, or river rafting.
You will love cuddling under Egyptian-cotton sheets in either a California King, twin, or queen-size bed, depending on your needs. Each bedroom is situated to take maximum advantage of the soothing lake vista. We also offer a high-end, high-rise inflatable bed with a memory-foam topper for a fifth guest or child. A shared bath with Egyptian cotton towels, massage shower head, and plenty of towel bars will refresh you after a day of adventure, lying on the beach, luxuriating in a hot springs, or enjoying fine or fun dining.
For outdoor grilling and dining, either yourselves or prepared by our culinary caretaker, we have a spacious wood quincho (structure for barbecuing and eating) with a wood and slate table and chairs and a wonderful view of the lake.
