Hi, my name is Ralph I am a graduate of the NYS Ranger School, I love the Adirondack Mountains, Forest, and waters. There is somthing magical about the woods, the aroma of pines, the fresh air, the sound of the wind through the forest, the sound of a mountain river. I own and operate Mountain River Properties, and build, sell or lease Cabins in the woods, and sell land also. Come on up and enjoy the pristine setting that the Independence River Cabin offers.
I am also a singer/ songwriter/guitar player and have an album and 2 singles released (on I-tunes and other sites), mostly christian contemporary music. My favorite place to play guitar is with friends around a camp fire.
Ralph Kimbrell purchased this cabin in 2011
This property is so special to us, with the River, Forest and private site ,with tons of Hiking ,cross country ski trails and horsetrails almost bordering this property, and the 76,000 thousand acres of Independence River Wild Forest State Land makes this a special place.
Enjoy quiet time and have a relaxing cup of coffee on the rustic porch, overlooking the River, read a book and have friends stop by and enjoy the peace.Enjoy scenic walks along the River, and many trails in area.
Very nice stay. Everything was so chill and still. That wood stove put me and my girlfriend to sleep half the time.
It was the most well kept place I have ever stayed in, clean, and had all of the necessary items such as blankets, kitchen items, and chopped wood for the wood stove. The wood stove was super fun- it was nice to have heat and it was nice to have zero to little service. It was also awesome to be right next to a stream of water and to hear the water rushing. Recommend it 100% and would definitely go back!
If you are looking for a quite peaceful get-away, this is the place. The cabin is beautiful, comfortable, and fully equipped. This plot of land on the river is magnificent. This is the perfect place to kick back, read a book, while listening to the babbling river.
My wife, daughter, dog, and I spent the week here hiking and relaxing. We opted not to do a lot of sightseeing except for a visit to Tughill Vineyards, which we recommend. Also on the way to Lowville, is Miller's Meat Market. A great place to get smoked pork loin on Monday and ribs on Thursday.
If you decide to hike to Gleasmens Falls, be prepared to encounter many low wet muddy areas. Good waterproof hiking boots are in order.
This is a great place and we have booked for next year.
Second time here it is better than ever, peace and quiet, the sound of the river at night lulls you to bed. Just an all around great place
My two brothers, father, and I stayed for four nights on this wonderful hunk of the Independence River and if we didn't leave the cabin, we would have never seen another soul. The cabin is well appointed and just the right amount of space for us four. I would think this would be a very good cabin for a couple with children. We appointed cabin with a nice gas grill and welcoming fire pit that we used nightly. If you are coming to the cabin to fish for Brook Trout, there are fish in the river but the fishing is challenging and often frustrating. But if you are in the area to explore the beautiful river and woods, you couldn't find a better base camp.
Our long weekend at your cabin was absolutely wonderful! The pictures and described accommodations were exactly as stated on Homeaway.com!
Our old dog Jackson loved roaming around the property also. We sat on the porch and played games, enjoyed wonderful bonfires and grilled every night. What a great retreat... We only wish there was more openings for the rest of the summer to come back! ha! We can see why it books up fast :) We wanted to come home and tell everyone about what a gem it was! We didnt venture much outside of the cabin besides hiking/walks/jogging. We loved how secluded it was. the River was so loud we compared it to hearing the Niagara Falls!
Thank you for sharing your home with us!
Tip-- bring stronger than usual bug spray/repellant if you plan on taking on the deeper trails! (around the cabin was fine with just "OFF").
