Independence Cabin: Thanksgiving 2012
We had a wonderful escape from it all at Independence River Log Cabin. The setting is stunning, nestled amongst huge mature pine just feet from the river. The sound of the river is amazing as it passes around boulders and along a stony bed at this point. Our 10, 8, and 4 yr old kids were in heaven scrambling down the river bank to the rocks, building forts out of fallen tree branches, and amusing themselves for hours on the property.
The cabin itself is perfect. Very clean and dust free, amazing detail in the workmanship made it an aesthetic and practical place to holiday, when outside was below freezing point. The log stove was easy to run and provided amazing heat for the long dark evenings. The kitchen is well appointed and we had all we needed to cook our thanksgiving meal.
Views from the cabin of the trees and river are beautiful.
We hiked out each day, trails start just 0.5 mile down a quiet road and cover a huge area, other trails are within a short drive.
If you are looking for the great escape this really is it. Bring plenty of books and hiking boots, and breathe out!!!!
