Nags Head Cottage Rental Photos and Description
3 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Across the street from the beach.
Take a step back in time and enjoy old Nags Head charm at it's best. The larger cottage on the property, 'Surf Shack', has just undergone a complete and total renovation. It has all the modern amenities we require, plus the old school charm of 1950s Nags Head. The smaller cottage, 'Surf Shack Too', is just beginning its renovation.
The Surf Shack Cottages are located on the Beach Road at MP 11, directly across from the Bainbridge Beach Access. We're just a few short steps to the beach and very close to the Nags Head Pier, restaurants, shopping and Jockey's Ridge. The Nags Head Pier has live music several nights a week in the summer. Our favorite activity (other than sunbathing, of course) is to take some cold beverages down to the beach and listen to the tunes from the comfort of our own sandy spot.
Surf Shack has 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Bright airy Living Room with vaulted ceiling, Kitchen and Dining/Sunroom. The largest bedroom has a queen bed and the two smaller bedrooms have full size beds. The cottage is equipped with a new flat screen TV, cable, high speed internet, AC, laundry and a gas grill. Enjoy coffee in the morning or a cocktail in the evening on one of the two front porches.
Sorry to the doggies, but Surf Shack Cottages does not allow pets.

About Stephanie Jefferson
My husband and I have been renovating historic properties since we were married 10 years ago. It's become sort of a sick obsession that we can't quit. Most of our experience has been in the Historic Fan neighborhood of Richmond, but when these old school cottages became available, we couldn't say no. We've spent the last 2 years bringing Surf Shack One back to it's original condition - or even better!
Stephanie Jefferson purchased this cottage in 2010
Why Stephanie Jefferson chose Nags Head
We knew right away this was the Nags Head property for us. We are beach lovers and you can't beat the location, just a few steps to the sand. Plus, these cottages had so much potential, they just needed someone to show them some love and care.
What makes this cottage unique
The old 1950s Nags Head Cottages are becoming somewhat of a rarity. Many have been torn down to make room for the big mansions. Our opinion is that bigger is not always better, especially when it comes to old school cottage charm. This cottage provides a romantic getaway for two or a cozy place for mom, dad and the kids. Come relax for a bit at Surf Shack Cottages and we think you'll agree.
Guestbook comments from the owner
Only one thing can be said about the Surf Shack - WE LOVED IT – EVERY LITTLE INCH OF IT!! From the moment we walked in we felt so comfortable and at home. The porch was awesome – we sat out there each morning and had our coffee (or beer!!), and just fell absolutely in love with it.
We took it all in, we LOVED your very simple beach-inspired décor and just everything was so perfect. In our minds, it is EXACTLY what a little beach cottage should be – we weren’t afraid to sit, move, sleep, or come and go with maybe some sand on our feet – it’s what the beach means to us. We almost cried when we had to leave on Friday am.
The location was perfect and the walk to the beach was so quick – it was amazing.
I cannot tell you enough how much we loved it. We went home and are totally redecorating our homes to look more beachy like the Surf Shack.
The rates were just perfect too. I know that we’ll be back again next year.
Thanks for a great little place.
