About Peggy Lim

We are Peggy and Jeffrey Lim. Together with our adult children, we've built our dream vacation home. A waterfront property is something that we've worked our entire lives for and are proud and happy to have fulfilled this dream. We own a cafe up the hill in Lonsdale, North Vancouver, and after years of serving the community and residents, we realized just how much we love to meet new people and are more than happy to open up our home to you. We can't wait to provide you with a comfortable and memorable stay.

Peggy Lim purchased this house boat in 2012

Why Peggy Lim chose North Vancouver

We are always asked about the name 'The Burrows' - here's a little background information that will help make sense of the name:

Being Vancouverites, our family are die hard fans of our beloved hockey team, The Vancouver Canucks! (Go Nucks!) The matriarch of our family, Peggy, has a special place in her heart dedicated to a certain Canucks forward --- jersey #14, Alex Burrows.

When we discovered that our address would be #14, Peggy immediately started jokingly referring to the house as 'The Burrows'. As we seriously started brainstorming names, we couldn't find anything we liked better, and figured that the name reflected our family, love for our city, and our excitement to share it!

What makes this house boat unique

Welcome to The Burrows Vancouver!

Started from a dream, and being built into reality - it’s our home away from home and would love for it to be yours too! The Burrows is part of a special community of ocean homes located at Mosquito Creek Marina in North Vancouver, BC. It’s location boasts unparalleled views of the downtown Vancouver skyline to the South, the legendary “Lions” mountains to the North, at high-tide enjoy a view of the breathtaking Stanley Park and the beautiful lights of the Lions Gate Bridge to the west!

So Fantastic...We're going to buy one....

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I are originally from Vancouver but now live in the U.S. However, we are in Vancouver constantly to visit family and had wanted to rent this home for quite some time but it was always booked up. Luckily, an available time slot coincided with a visit to the city.

The owner was lovely to deal with. Especially when I dropped the lock box and it went skidding across the dock and into the ocean upon departure.

The location of the float home is fantastic with just a short walk to the sea bus that allows for a quick trip across the water to downtown. Other amenities that are within EASY walking distance include a grocery store, liquor store, and drug store. But there is SO MUCH MORE available within walking distance. If you're visiting during the summer months, check out the Shipyards Friday night market which runs every Friday throughout the summer. The Shipyard is located just east of the Lonsdale Quay public market. Additionally the Lonsdale Quay public market has a fabulous selection of shops, small restaurants and places to pick up produce and seafood. The market location also hosts a farmer's market every Saturday morning.

There are some great restaurants in the area too. Quattro's Italian adjacent to the Lonsdale Quay market is fabulous and Pier 7 on the east side of Lonsdale Quay has a great patio with an amazing view.

Obviously I'm very partial to North Vancouver and being able to spend three nights in such an amazing home, in an area that we love, was such a treat for us. We had beautiful sunshine during our stay and loved spending time on the deck with it's view of the Vancouver skyline. It was incredibly peaceful.

As another reviewer mentioned, there were a few occasions that the houseboat rocked so anyone sensitive to motion sickness should be aware of that fact. But we never noticed it at night.

The home is laid out beautifully and there is everything provided that one could require for enjoying meals prepared indoors. It is airy and bright and the large porthole window with it's view of the North Shore mountains was such a beautiful complement to the south facing ocean view. Additionally, the beds are very comfortable and the heated floor in the master bathroom was a pleasant surprise.

Anyone fortunate enough to find an opening in the calendar will enjoy an incredibly unique home in one of the most beautiful cities in the world!

Exceptional Stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family had the luxury of staying the The Burrows in Aug/2014. Peggy was quick at getting back to our inquiry and booking was a breeze. The location was great (we did have a vehicle) and walking distance to the local grocery store. Parking was available and the area is gated, with a security attendant. The unit itself was beautiful and clean. It is actually even more than what we expected and even better than the pictures can represent. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and very comfortable bedding. The living area is spacious and decorated like a show suite. The kitchen was fully equipped and the pantry came in handy. The patio with the heater was great for our morning coffee and the BBQ was used for our fresh seafood from the market. Twice a day the unit would rock a bit possibly from larger cargo passing by. It didnt last too long, probably an hour or so. If you do get motion sickness just go for a walk in the area or have some medication on hand. We only stayed for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. I would definitely recommend this unit for any traveller looking for a place to stay.

Affordable Luxury Stay in Convenient Location

  • 5 of 5

I booked this house to use for a work retreat for 7 people for three days. There was plenty of room for all of us and a beautiful open kitchen/living area for us to hold meetings. The location was perfect, as there are tons of restaurants, coffee shops and attractions within a 5 minute walk. The view of the ocean is incredible and the house is well stocked with all the kitchen supplies you can imagine. The only cautionary comment I have is that the house does noticeably rock at times and several people (especially after a night of alcohol consumption) felt a bit woozy during these times. If you are particularly sensitive to motion sickness I would reconsider booking this house. Otherwise, everything was perfect!

Fantastic Trip

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful stay at the Burrows floating home. The house is immaculate and well appointed. The view is amazing. We gathered every morning for coffee and every evening for drinks in the great room and kitchen area. With three full baths, we could all get showered up and out to dinner quickly. There is excellent hiking nearby, the Grouse Grind is a beast for those who enjoy a strenuous hike. The water bus terminal is walking distance from the house and you can be in Gastown in minutes. Peggy is a great host. She met us at check in and welcomed us to her home. We strongly recommend this house for a family or few couples who enjoy a clean home and a beautiful view.

Spacious, cozy and beautiful

  • 5 of 5

Breathtaking views of Vancouver, which you can enjoy from your own private balcony.

The house boat has everything that you would need for a comfortable stay. We were able to create wonderful meals in the spacious kitchen, which we enjoyed while looking out at Vancouver skyline. Shopping for groceries was a pleasant walk away. Our kids loved walking on the dock in the early morning and evening. We saw seals and otters from a distance which was a thrill. Peggy and Laura were helpful and accessible if needed. We enjoyed the home and hope to come back sometime soon.
