I am a native Oregonian. I have been managing rental properties since 1990 and take great pride in providing clean, relaxing, user-friendly places for my guests to enjoy their family, friends and life's adventures.
Kathy Schroeder purchased this house in 2010
My husband grew up vacationing at this home with his family and the previous owner who owned it for 47 years. He and I were fortunate in 2010 to buy it from this life-long friend and to put two full years of significant effort into bringing this century-old home into the 21st century with all new windows, doors, a new foundation, new electrical, plumbing, floors and all new landscaping while maintaining the Nantucket-style shabby chic flair of the home.
This home has an incredible location on Gin Ridge in Gearhart (so-named based on historic local lore) with views to the west of the Pacific Ocean and to the east of the Coastal mountains. Easy walks reward you at the beach access trail or at the center of town grocery or Pacific Way Cafe.
Hi, Kathy! Just wanted to let you know that we truly enjoyed staying at your beautiful beach house in Gearhart...it was absolutely perfect for our family and had everything we could ever want or need!...and what a perfect location and spectacular view! WOW! Our two-year-old grandson played in the sandbox for hours, we enjoyed sitting around the firepit and making s'mores, and made several fun jaunts to the beach...and of course to the Pacific Way Bakery!
Thank you again for helping to make our time on the Oregon Coast so very special and memorable!
I wanted a birthday weekend surrounded by friends and a great kitchen to cook in- this house was a perfect fit! There was plenty of room to gather and plenty of room just to be. The kitchen was a delight to work in and very well equipped as rentals go. It is clean and well organized. While not on the beach it is close and slightly sheltered from the wind.
We had so much fun we want to make it a quarterly happening!
We can't wait for the next visit!
Twelve of us (three generations) gathered here for four days and found the charm and comfort of this beach house delightful. It was so well equipped and laid out that it was hard to leave the house to go exploring. The sandbox, fire pit and wide sandy beach alone would have kept us occupied during our stay. But the house is in the perfect location to explore the coast from Cannon Beach to Astoria, and explore we did. Lewis and Clark for the history buffs, the acquarium in Seaside for the kids, great restaurants and shops in Cannon Beach and Astoria (and Gearhart). We had blue skies and balmy weather. It was a great for beach walking and quite a change weather wise from what those of us from Vermont and Virginia left behind. The owner was very helpful too in both planning our stay and making sure that all went well while we were there. If only it wasn't so far away!
We arrived on December 20,2014 for Christmas week with our 97 year old mother and six of her eight adult children to one of the nicest homes we have ever rented. From the cleanliness ,to the furnishings to the well equipped kitchen and bathrooms this all contributed to a special family Christmas for us.The setting, the veranda, outdoor fire pit, sand dunes and beach....you get the picture,we'll be back. Thank you Katherine for sharing your beautiful home. Brad
We had another wonderful weekend in Gearhart at this lovely, well-maintained, clean and organized home! Staying here is easy, restful, pleasant and overall just relaxing. We enjoyed the fire pit, walking too the beach, playing board games and walking to town. The trip to Seaside is just a short drive or longer walk/run. It is nice to be away from the tourists of Seaside but can venture there if you want to! This property is so well planned that it is easy to stay there and just enjoy. True vacation!
10 minute drive south to the beach town of Seaside with outlet store shopping, arcade, beachfront boardwalk, aquarium, Lewis & Clark historical features; 10 minute drive north to Fort Clatsop and Lewis & Clark Expedition history; 20 minute drive north to beach town of Astoria and confluence of Columbia River and Pacific Ocean and lots of Lewis & Clark Expedition history
