This ocean view property overlooks Moonlight State Beach. This 800 sq. foot, home away from home, is set up for long walks on the beach, and relaxation in mind. Experience the sound of crashing waves from your bedroom, and enjoy the beach view from the front table.

We pride ourselves on providing that cozy, clean, beach cottage feeling that is rare in Southern California, let alone right on Moonlight Beach!

With off-street parking, a walk to the nearby Coaster train station, this is the perfect launch pad for a San Diego private vacation. This will provide a more community feel than your standard resort, while having many of the same features.

For our guests, we provide HDTV, high-speed wireless or wired internet, and local phone service. We provide any beach gear you may need including, but not limited to, body boards, soft surfboards, beach chairs, kayaks, and a handy beach cart with giant wheels to get you down the beach with your gear. We have a full kitchen. We have stocked the kitchen with spices and condiments, so that precious time is not wasted.

The bedroom has a queen bed that sleeps two comfortably with dresser, closet, and beautiful beach decor! The living room couch sleeper can sleep 2 with the option of lighting a snugly fire or watching movies until you fall a sleep, after your busy or relaxing day at the beach! Our dining table overlooks the beautiful view at the beach. It is ideal for waking up with a nice cup of coffee. Encinitas has a wonderful variety of coffee shops or just brew some of your own and relax!

We want to provide you with a memorable vacation that will keep you coming back for years to come!

You will see a blank room in our photos. The second room is convertible, from yoga room, art studio, kids play room, teenager bedroom or office. We change up our 2nd room based on our guest's unique needs. We can put in a trundle bed, futon, crib, table/chairs, or leave it blank for a great ocean view yoga studio.

Upon special requests, we can pick up and drop off at the San Diego airport. Also, for small children, please let us know what needs you will have as we can in most cases accommodate. For these details, please call.

About Treggon Owens

As third generation Encinitas residents, raising fourth generation citizens.... we love to share our property with visitors who want to experience the charm and magic that Encinitas is known for. We were born and raised here, and we like to keep some of the old school Encinitas charm alive. Treggon is a board member for the local Mainstreet association, DEMA, so he loves to direct people to walk downtown, enjoy our local restaurants, browse our unique locally owned shops, and enjoy Encinitas. We love it, and hope to share it with you!

We have young kids, 2 Cocker Spaniel dogs, and you may have known us for running the Moonlight Beach Concession Stand. Having ran a customer service business for years, we know how to make people feel at home.

You will have our wonderful Moonlight Beach right across the street, where you can watch world famous beach volleyball across the street with a children's play ground right next to it. One room can be stripped down to make a yoga room. This same room can act as a kid's room, or office.

Encinitas offers world class yoga studios a 5 minute walk down-town. The Self Realization Fellowship meditation gardens, Swami's, San Diego botanical gardens, lagoon trails and bird watching are very close. The Encinitas 101 Shopping District 5 minute walk, Leucadia Art District close-by. Only 30 minutes away from San Diego Zoo, Lindbergh field and horse back riding in Del Mar. During the summer we have multiple events here in Encinitas, starting with the annual Triatholon, SwitchFoot BroAm, Concert by the Beach series by the Encinitas Parks and Recreation Department, and finally (May 2013) a new concession stand with new bathrooms/showers, fire pits, and park benches for picnics.

We are minutes away from Del Mar! During the fair season and the Del Mar Horse Racing season, this place is packed with a variety of events or avoid it all and just chill!!!

Outstanding! Would do it all again (and hope to!)

My boyfriend and I wanted a vacation where we could spend a week living in a beach town like a local. We couldn't have picked a better spot for that experience. Overall, we loved it and would be happy to do it all over again. What we loved most:

Location: It's an easy walk from the cottage to the center of town or to Moonlight Beach. I walked to Jois Yoga every morning, and it's was quite lovely. I loved that we could simply grab a beach towel and go spend an hour or so at the beach. We didn't have to make a day-long excursion of a trip to the beach. The neighborhoods around the cottage are pedestrian-friendly, too, and fun to walk around. By car, we made little day trips to nearby Carlsbad, Solona Beach, Oceanside, and La Jolla. Navigating by car was easy, too.

Space: The home has more than enough space, but not so much that it's overwhelming. The kitchen is perfect. It's a good size and well equipped. (We didn't use it too much, but we did use it a bit.)

Aside from a lovely note and a hostess gift when we arrived (yay!) we didn't see much of the neighbors or the host. So, the cottage feels quite private. We never felt like were in in someone else's space, so to speak.

The only thing we might've used was a grill. But if we're being completely honest, we didn't miss it at all and only briefly considered making dinner at home one night during the week we were there. (Walk up to Raul's and get the fish tacos instead.)

Renting vacation property like this is new to me and I'm thrilled that my first experience doing so was positive. Thanks for having us!

My husband and I stayed at this fantastic beach house with great views of the ocean. It was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Every day we took long walks on the beach. Everything is within a short walking distance, restaurants, whole foods and shopping. The meditation gardens were absolutely breath taking, and only a short walk away either on the beach or through town. I would highly recommend it, and definitely would like to return.

This is a perfect beach getaway home. The location could not be better. The accommodations are cozy and comfortable. June and Treggon are wonderful hosts. They live next door so security was never an issue. Great off street parking. Our favorite part, besides the lovely beach strolls was being able to walk into town. Close to everything you might need. Whole Foods and good shops. We suggest Lofty Coffee Cafe for the best Latte in the world and East Village for the Monk bowl (we went twice). Sunday Farmer's Market is great, too. Moonlight Beach beautiful..... you can walk for miles and miles. With sunset views from the cottage, you won't miss one.

This was a great loctaion to stay. So close to everything needed and all in walking distance. If your after a place close to the beach this is a stone throw away and the owners of the property can not do enought to make sure your stay is comfortable and you have everything we need. I highly recommened this to all.
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

This property has everything you need: a comfortable living space, a fully stocked kitchen, and a view of the ocean and walking distance to the beach. Spotless, nicely decorated and comfortable in every way. Playground, grocery store and restaurants near by. Proprietors were courteous and did everything to make our stay pleasant and relaxing. Top notch.

Owner's Response: Wolfgang, not only do you have the coolest name, and cutest family of anyone who has stayed here, you were a great guest to us. I loved to see you running across the street to go surf in the huge waves we had. It was pretty fun to set up your kids with a few toys, as mine are getting older, and it makes me nostalgic! I hope you come back every year and surf, we welcome you any time.
