E Komo Mai (welcome) to Hale Bacopa on the beautiful east side of the Big Island. Hale Bacopa is named after the indigenous plant that grows here in fresh and brackish water. Not only does it make an excellent habitat for some Hawaiian waterfowl, it’s medicinal benefits prove (or so they say!) to assist in easing stress and the relaxation process.
And relax you will do when you stay here! Located in the sun belt of the east side, you will enjoy incredible ocean views AND wonderful trade winds from what is considered the “cleanest air on the planet”. You are only about a 10 minute walk from the famed Kehena Black Sand Beach (clothing optional!). Just only about a 10 minute drive down the famous Red Road is Uncle Robert’s. A GREAT place to go on Wednesday nights. Lots of local food and entertainment!!
This beautifully decorated home has been designed and embraces the indoor/outdoor lifestyle that we are about here. Across the path is the huge open “gathering place” living area with generous seating, another dining table, TV and a gorgeous bedroom/sleeping area.
There are actually 2 outdoor garden showers with both hot and cold water on the grounds of Hale Bacopa. There is another one right off of the main hale.

This is a very well kept property with a wonderful ocean view!
We stayed for 22 days and would recommend it highly to family and friends visiting the Big Island!
The home is stocked with everything you need, just bring your cloths and food!
This is a safe family friendly property with lots to do in the area!
The property manager, Jeana is both friendly and helpful she will go out of her way to make sure any concerns and taken care of right away! Can't go wrong staying here!
Firstly, Jeana is A++++. She is 100% genuine, enthusiastic and responsive. I lived here for nearly 4 months with my 5 small children and we had our fair share (and more) of needs. Never, and I mean never, did I have to wait on her help. In fact, if I ever inquired about an issue, it would be attended to before I even noticed it again. Amazing!!
Secondly, we came here looking to find a place to purchase and if I could have managed to comfortably live on an acre, I would have bought in this exact area in a heartbeat! You are literally right off the Red Road, one of those roads you can drive a hundred times and still gasp out loud, "oooohhhh, aaaahhhh!" There are stunning ocean views from every point of this property, but I was especially spoiled from the second floor master retreat and the wrap around lanai. Speaking of retreats, the "love shack" is on a small kipuka, nestled in the jungle and is darling in every way. My young daughter stayed there and I was never worried for her safety. She loved it! Also, the garage conversion is spacious, modern and was done with perfection and comfort in mind. Do not worry for a second about the living area being there - it is literally a hop away and we hardly watched TV at all anyway. All furnishings are comfortable, modern and uniquely Pahoa - you will want for nothing living here. Just show up and enjoy!
Lastly, the neighbors are delightful and inviting (even with our large and loud crew!). We walked the neighborhood enough to find the secret path to Kehena Beach and make our way down to the caves, along the bluff. Many afternoons we arrived home to find goodies on our doorstep left by neighbors. Many afternoons we could hear distant drumming from Sea View or the Beach while sipping from our fresh coconuts. Many evenings were spent around our own bonfire until the coqui frog's singing put us to sleep. It is a private, yet warm atmosphere, and, above all, SAFE!
Bottom Line - I cannot believe we almost passed on this magical experience, simply to save a couple bucks. Trust me, whether you will use all the space or not, you will simply not find a better value for the experience of living at the beach. And, the beach, my friends, is the very heart of this beautiful town! Aloha!
