I am originally from Corpus Christi and followed my future wife to the Austin area. We have lived in the Texas Hill Country at Lake Travis for 30 years. I am a 25 year employee of a Lake Travis water utility and my wife is a social worker. I am blessed with having a wonderful family, career and community. We would love to share this special place with you.
Henry purchased this house in 2000
There is something special about living by the water. For us, it is Lake Travis, hearing the fish splash in the lake, seeing a Great-horned Owl soar overhead at dusk, speeding on top of the waves on Lake Travis, enjoying the refreshing water. And then, being so close to downtown Austin. It is easy to ride the train or drive into town.
What I love about our home is the privacy and natural beauty surrounding it. Outside dining and relaxing in a nature lover's paradise.
We stayed over Spring break AND came back for the 4th weekend because we just love this place. When my wife and daughter walked in the first time and saw the casual but very fun decor, the both said, "These people are just like us." How could not feel at home. And meeting Henry and Lee they are just the nicest folks. The House has 3 bedrooms and is well appointed, but the selling points are the very large open kitchen/living area, the back deck with and awesome view and incredibly quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed cooking on the gas grill in the back because the view is so great, but there is a charcoal grill in front, for purists. Even though the drought has put the boat docks onto a dry valley with a little stream running it though it, we enjoyed the nice walk along the road that winds next to the creek. AND the vista you see in Henry's picture of the water, is just as refreshing without the water. The bird feeder provides constant entertainment as you watch the sunrise or sunset. This is a great place. Just don't rent it when we want to.
We (4 couples) stayed at Henry's place over Memorial Weekend. The house and view were just as described online, if not better. Henry was there to great us and give us a quick tour and tips of the property. There plenty of clean linens and towels for everyone. We spent a great deal of our time playing games and listening to music on the enclosed porch, as it was quite rainy during our stay. The fire pit was a great amenity on the first night we stayed, keeping Mosquitos away, while chit chatting outside. We all had an amazing time and would definitely stay here again.
When my friends and I decided to meet in Austin for the weekend, we stumbled upon this property which we found to be exteremly spacious and featured a great layout. The kitchen especially was very open and easy to get around with the five of us cooking, the owner even left the cabinets stocked with cold beverages and snacks since we were coming in from different areas. While the the property does not feature a waterfront view which is clearly outlined in the description, the scenery was still stunning, casading hills and greenery as far as the eye could see. In addition to all these features, the home was situated in the perfect proximity to local attractions making it easy to get around. All in all, the accomodations and attention to detail was fantastic
Our family had a phenomenal time at Henry's house on Lake Travis. The lake is low, but there is still plenty to do and Henry helped point us in the right direction for activities and places to go.
The house has a great layout, wide open kitchen and living room, along with a great porch and deck with views. There are trails right out the back door for running or hiking, and the river may not be a lake, but its great to splashing around with the kids.
Hoping to make it back soon!
My family spent Thanksgiving at this home. It is a lovely home, well stocked and extremely clean. The views are great and the hiking was an adventure. The outside shower was fun for the daring ones in our family, the fire pit was a treat, the TV was great for the Thanksgiving games, the washer and dryer were really nice, and the kitchen was nice with great appliances. We spent nine days here and would highly recommend this home for families that want a quiet time, active adventure, or for families that want the city life, as it is very conveniently located near Austin.
We have been using VRBO's since last 10yrs. for our vacations all over the United States. This house was at a great location, only 25 minutes from Austin downtown. It did not seem like we were in Austin. It felt like we were in Denver (just looking through the window, It was three digit temperature outside).
. The picture shows a river flowing in the back of the house, which makes it look even more prettier but the owner, Henry was honest enough to call us and let us know that the river was no longer there, that it had dried up. We loved his honesty. The house had such a pretty view from the backyard.
Henry had taken extra care of us. He had lit up the whole house from outside and inside just because he knew that it would be dark before got there and he didn't want us to get lost. When we entered the house there were fresh flowers waiting for us. The house was very clean and smelled fresh. There were surplus linens and towels and of very high quality. He had even thought of leaving some onions and lemons for us. We found everything that we needed for out three days stay.
We felt welcomed and would definitely want to come again.
A leisure drive to the train depot allows guests to park and ride the train into downtown Austin to enjoy music, shopping and sightseeing. Austin is a hip and trendy city with the cultural charm of the southwest. Events at the Cedar Park Center are available for hockey fans, music lovers and thrill seekers. Enjoying walks with your dog on our newly built greenbelt trails and the Sandy Creek valley is a must. Kayaking, swimming and boating from the boat dock below the lake house provides privacy and adventure. Balcones Canyonland Preserve is located 15 minutes along the Hill Country Trail provides more hiking and bird watching. Sitting on the deck, listening and watching the birds will make a birdwatcher out of anyone. All of you fishermen, must know this is a great area for white and Guadalupe bass fishing and our dock sits in a no wake zone. By boat you can easily travel to Cafe Blue, Carlos n Charlie's, Johnny Fins, Volente Water Park, Mansfield Dam, Hippie Hollow and Windy Point. Our local organic farmers, in Cedar Park, provide excellent, certified organic vegetables on Saturdays and they are located within a 15 minutes from Jonestown. Two cruise bicycles and two kayaks are available for your pleasure, and fishing gear, too.
