Great relaxing vacation

I traveled to the DR with my parents and brother, and was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the house was. The pictures accurately reflected the house, which I was not entirely expecting. The house was perfect for us to relax and hang out, swim, play games, and enjoy the view. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the wonderful staff, Bruno, Natacha and Yohanny, who were essential in making our trip so memorable. They keep the house so tidy, and they whipped up amazing dishes in the kitchen. They were so warm and kind and we really loved waking up to their company.
The beach at Costambar is only a few minutes walk from the house, and it is a beautiful and picturesque place you could spend the day, swimming, eating and drinking. Most things you need or want to do are close, either within walking distance or you can get there by taxi. The property manager is very helpful in arranging transportation.
Overall our stay was a wonderful experience, but there were a couple of negative points that should be mentioned. First, we could not get the A/C units to function so the house was a bit warm. Second, there are two large Mastiff dogs on site who are there for your protection and are very friendly. However, the dogs like to try and escape, which they successfully did twice. The locals are pretty afraid of the dogs, so we were quite concerned with getting the dogs back into the yard. While the dogs were nice to have around for safety, they did make it difficult to go in and out of the gate and were a pain to try and herd back to the house. The largest problem we had was the owner, who was gone for the first 6 of our 10 day stay, but stayed in the upper unit of the property for the remainder of our trip. Having the owner there, along with his guests, diminished the feeling of having a private villa all to ourselves, so before you book make sure you ask if the owner will be staying at the property while you are there.
Again, we had a wonderful trip and the staff was amazing, and as long as the owner is not on site, I would recommend this property to a friend.
