Mount Shasta Family Lodge is designed for long-term living and perfect for those wanting to stay monthly or longer. It’s ideal for artists, writers, photographers, or anyone seeking the peace, quiet and inspiration of the mountains. Here’s where you feel a new youthful vigor after freeing yourself from the confusion and noise of stop-and-go traffic in the city.
Why choose to stay in the mountains longer than a few days? You’ll learn why people choose to live up here permanently after seeing Mount Shasta's snow-covered peaks from the deck of our lodge. It's a million-dollar view! It's when your Mount Shasta experience begins.
Being here easily explains why the sight of California's most famous 14,179-foot high peak thrills everyone from wide-eyed children to rugged mountaineers and U.S. presidents.
Why fly thousands of miles away to the Swiss Alps when you can stay at our unique European-styled, two-story, three-bedroom Mount Shasta Family Lodge. Since it’s located on a pristine acre of a former meadow and surrounded by mountain views in every direction, you’ll easily assume you’ve moved into in a chalet of ancient Europe that’s been upgraded for modern living.
Children make a wonderful discovery seeing the mountains for the first time and then returning year after year because in wilderness you never lose being young in heart. Here's where every child is inspired to start asking the kind of questions that takes each of them to college and beyond.
All proceeds from the Mount Shasta Family Lodge go into a California 529 College Savings Plan that provides scholarships for qualified persons desiring to go to college as administered by trustees Gordon & Darlene A Greb.
While in the mountains, you’ll be living comfortably and at ease with central heating and air conditioning. In addition, you'll be able to use a wood burning stove in the living room or wall panel electrical heaters in upstairs and downstairs bathrooms and bedrooms.
The lodge accommodates up to seven persons. There are two bedrooms upstairs served by a bathroom with tub and shower and there's a third bedroom ensuite downstairs.
The master bedroom sleeps a couple in a queen-sized bed and the adjacent guest room serves another pair in a standard double. In addition a pullout couch in the living room can be turned into a bed for a seventh person.
A third bedroom downstairs has a king-sized bed easily fitting two more with exclusive bathroom and shower.
Our upstairs kitchen, next to the dining room, features a modern refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and electric cooker. You'll find a large screen TV in the cathedral-ceilinged Great Room, and all of the bedrooms connect to cable TVs with DVD or VCR players. The master bedroom also features a complete stereo sound system with radio, phonograph, and cassette player.
Altogether this two-story structure occupies nearly 1900 square feet of living space and is ideally situated to give you a million dollar view of Mt Shasta itself from the upstairs living room and outside deck.
We have a two-car garage in a building that nestles among other beautifully styled homes on one-acre lots where each has tremendous views of tree-covered mountains in every direction.
Winter brings skiing to the slopes of Mt Shasta and summer attracts fishing, boating, and swimming in nearby lakes. Youngsters always enjoy visiting the state fish hatchery which is five minutes away.
You can bike to the town center (abut one mile and a half distant) or take the four-lane interstate freeway (Highway 5) south to San Francisco or north to Portland, Oregon. Fine restaurants are in our picturesque village as well as neighboring towns (Dunsmuir, 6 miles; Weed, 8 miles).
Good local public transportation connects neighboring towns. But to save time an automobile is advisable. Amtrak passenger trains stop at Dunsmuir; Greyhound serves us from Weed. It's advisable for travelers arriving by air to continue their San Francisco flight to Redding Airport (one hour away) where a car can be picked up.
Driving time from San Francisco to Mount Shasta (4 1/2 hrs); Chico (2 1/2 hrs); Redding (1 hr.); and Ashland, Oregon (1 1/4 hrs).
