This property has a large living room perfect for entertaining large groups and is located off a paved road, with great year round access, and is centrally located to all the area has to offer.
A group of 10 college guys stayed here for 4 nights during our Spring Break. It was a perfect place to stay for us to go ski Wolf Creek. The home was very spacious and plenty of room for 10, we could have easily fit 14. It is very convenient and nice to have the comfort of a home while on vacation. The price is so worth it. The house and property exceeded expectations. We all loved it and even talked about using it next year. Stay here- you won't regret it.
Had a great stay down here snowboarding! Place was big enough for all of us and quite comfy. My only complaint would be that it's somewhat inconvenient to take the trash to a different location after checking out. But, I'll be back next year for sure when the snow flies :-)
Overall this was a very good rental and we would not hesitate to stay here again. We loved how spacious the home was and everybody was very comfortable with the beds. There was way more provided in the kitchen than we expected, including all of the cookware, cups, dishes, and even spices that prior guests may have left behind. There were plenty of blankets, towels etc. We didn't need to furnish much at all. The only minor complaints that we had were that the shelves where the dishes, cups etc were stored were pretty dirty. In talking to one of the neighbors, they said the place had not been used in a couple of months, so that probably explains why there was noticeable dust collecting in the cabinets. The other was that my wife also had to scrub out the master bath tub which had a distinct dirt ring around the top. Overall, not that big of a deal in the long run, but kept us from giving 5 stars. Really enjoyed our visit and have already discussed taking another week at this same rental with the whole family next year. If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable, affordable rental in a great neighborhood, look no further.
We just got back from an enjoyable weekend in the South Fork area with this cabin as our home base. We are a family of 3 adults and 1 child and a dog that needed a pet friendly place with a bedroom on the first floor for Grandma and this cabin fit the bill, although it is very clear that it would also be perfect for a larger multifamily group. The place was clean and the beds were comfortable, both huge issues for me. I will say for anyone looking for a designer ski village-type condo or home--this is not it. This is an ordinary cabin with older fixtures, cabinets, etc (except for a newer dishwasher, hooray!) I won't say rustic because that can imply a certain decor. Its just a cabin with a mishmash of furniture (but that plank table--WOW!). It's just a good place to stay while enjoying whatever the area has to offer, with fishing right down the street. The neighborhood was nice with friendly neighbors who we met while either fishing or walking our dog. I would rent again, especially if planning a trip with another family.
My husband and I took our family to this vacation spot for Thanksgiving 2013.
This house was very comfortable and homey. We had 13 people with us and there was plenty of room for us all to gather either in the dining room or great room and spend time together as a family.
The nice little town was just a 5 minute drive away. The people of South Fork were all very nice and helpful. I loved the view of the mountains from the little restaurant we ate at.
The kids loved being able to walk down to the river, which had the most beautiful view. It was like a winter wonderland. Daily animals came up to the house and our Grandbabies were able to see them from the windows. This was amazing.
The house was well equipped with everything we needed, as far as cooking utensils and dishes. We made homemade hot chocolate every night. Some of us played games in the great room while others watched movies.
While we were here it was snowing every morning we woke up to a new layer of white beautiful snow. We played in the snow everyday, we made snowmen and snow slides. There is also a park in town we went to to slide down the hills, with the sleds that were at the house.
We did have one issue while we were here with frozen pipes, we contacted the property manager and within 30 minutes someone was there to help with the problem. It did take a couple of hours to resolve this but after that we had no problems.
There was a lot of snow and ice on our drive in which I was very worried about. However, both passes were maintained very well and we did not have any issues.
It would have been nice to have a microwave, and more dish towels and clothes.
Arrived at the cabin to a welcomed 72 deg., coming from Tx late July/early Aug., you can only imagine what I mean!! Home was welcoming from the get go, there's a huge wooden deck out front, where we spent most our time hanging out and enjoying the large trees. One morning we enjoyed our coffee with 5 deer bedded down in the front yard and 10 humming birds drinking from the feeders! The house was very spacious, and easy to get around in, looked like the master bath was the only thing that had not been completely updated in the house, could use a new microwave also. We were able to ride the ATVs right from the house and into the forest, the large garage was great for securing our toys, when we arrived home from a hard days ride. The house was perfect for our group, even though the house had been remodeled, we didn't feel like we had to tip toe around and be overly cautious!!! Hope to make another trip this summer, thx for the wonderful memories!!
