Brian O'Keefe owns Mooretown Sawmill as well as several rental properties in the local mountain area. Born and raised in Mooretown, Brian had a dream of carving out the land and creating a successful sawmill.
His dream became a reality in 1987. Mooretown Mill is located in the beautiful mountains of Northeast Pa. near the unforgettable Rickett's Glen State Park. Here at Mooretown, we use local timber to produce a quality product.
That same product and craftsmanship can be found in all of Brian's rental properties producing a beautiful rustic feel. He takes great pride in the quality of his work and enjoys sharing that with others.
All of our renters will tell you that Brian will go out of his way to ensure your stay is unforgettable.
In his spare time (if any) he enjoys jaunts on his KTM motorcycle, and is an active member in many organizations dealing with educating the youth of PA in the logging industry; his passion and joy.
He lives at Mooretown with his Black Labs, Echo and Bear Cub.
Brian purchased this house in 2009
You can't beat this location if you are looking for a get-away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! Cozy, quiet, rustic, yet local to any outdoor activities enough to keep you busy! Enjoy the outdoors all year long!
The cabin is fully equipped. No need to pack everything just to get away for a mountain vacation. All the amenities and yet you don't have to 'rough it'. Rickett's Glen state park hosts over 1 million visitors a year. Our property is minutes from the Park. Enjoy hiking over 22 waterfalls, kayaking, mountain biking, cross country skiing, hunting or just enjoying some good local BBQ and be minutes away from kicking back in front of the fireplace or out in the pavilion.
This is a wonderful place to get away. Especially if you love the outdoors. We spent the weekend hiking and hanging out in front of the fireplace.
My husband and I had a lovely weekend away. The cabin was nicely renovated and we would definitely stay there again.
We were so pleased when we walked through the door. This cabin is wonderful. Wish we stayed longer. Loved the fireplace. Loved the closeness to Rickets Glen. Great hiking up the mountain right from the back door! The owners were very prompt in replying to our emails. We loved the place and will be back!
The craftsmanship and care that went into remodeling this cabin is unbelievable. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and located great for leaf peeping, antiquing, or hiking the falls. The owners were great to work with and my wife and I are already planning to go back.
We had a great time at this cabin and in the Endless Mountains. The cabin was spacious for our family of four. The interior is beautifully done in wood, with unique and antique sawmill items as decorations. Even though you're out in the wilderness, you have all the modern conveniences you need including wi-fi. The exterior is a bit rough, though it seems to be in the process of being updated, but the interior is charming, rustic, and very comfortable. Hope to come back again.
This was the perfect place to rendezvous with family and friends. The cabin is beautiful, immaculate and well equipped. Brian, the landlord, owns a sawmill and the interior has exceptional custom woodwork throughout. Open beams, plank floors, an old stone fireplace and handmade furnishings add a warm welcoming feel for a getaway. Rickett's Glen Park is minutes away and the hiking past towering waterfalls through dense forest was the highlight of our trip. For the less adventurous, there were wineries, antique shops, farmer and flea markets to explore. There are many restaurants in the area but one of our friends is a gourmet cook and enjoyed preparing feasts for all in the well equipped kitchen. Every evening found us out back, around the firepit, having drinks and talking about the day. I highly recommend a visit and will be back.
Property borders Ricketts Glen State Park. Ricketts Glen harbors Glens Natural Area, a National Natural Landmark. Take the Falls Trail and explore the Glens, which boasts a series of wild, free-flowing waterfalls, each cascading through rock-strewn clefts in this ancient hillside. The 94-foot Ganoga Falls is the highest of 22 named waterfalls. Old growth timber and diverse wildlife add to the scenic area. Ricketts Glen State Park is one of the most scenic areas in Pennsylvania. This large park is comprised of 13,050 acres in Luzerne, Sullivan and Columbia counties.
