The Bluff House is the perfect vacation home. The home has a huge, stocked gourmet kitchen and three comfortable bedrooms each with its own private, full bathroom, ideal for three couples or a small family wanting to explore Port Angeles and the Olympic National Park. The panoramic salt water view is incredible and visible from almost every room in the house; both sunrises and sunsets are visible over the water. The house is located on a 100ft high bluff, set 40ft back from the water, so there is no better view available anywhere in Port Angeles, period. Turn around and there is a view of the Olympic Mountains looming above Port Angeles.
The location of the house is perfect for visitors. It is close to the Olympic National Park, the Discovery Trail and the downtown area of Port Angeles. It is just 4 blocks from the Victoria Ferry, 2 blocks from the Discovery Trail, 1 mile from the entrance to the national park and 5 blocks from shopping and restaurants. Your hosts can help with trail and sightseeing information, and any concerns or questions that may arise when planning your adventures on the Olympic Peninsula. Look at the photos and read the comments. The photos are all taken by us from the house itself. If anything, the house and view are better than the photographs depict. The Bluff House is the nicest vacation home in Port Angeles, perfect for a small group of up to 6 people. You will love it and want to return.
An avid hiker and enjoyer of the outdoors, I love this area, it's people and all it has to offer. I am so happy to share our corner of the country with travelers, and the Bluff House is the perfect venue for that.
Cindy Clark purchased this house in 1990
We bought this piece because of the amazing view but it was too small at the time for our family. Now that our kids are gone we have doubled the size of the house and made it cozy for when they return with their families.
The mountain view to the south and the water view to the north, west and east make this a unique piece of property. Eagles perch in the tree out front and the water is full of activity all the time, both natural and man-made. The kitchen has a separate wet bar, everything you need for the discerning chef and beautiful serving pieces to make you feel at home. The lights of the harbor are an enchanting sight at night and in the winter months, nothing is cozier than sitting in the warm front room watching the weather unfold in front of your eyes.
Thank you Cindy fro being so flexible , helpful and tremendously easy to work with. We has a wonderful stay at your lovely property. It was the perfect getaway for a great trip to the Olympic Peninsula. Without a doubt, I'll be recommending The Bluff House as THE place to stay in Port Angeles, although I'm mighty tempted to keep it a secret!
Thanks again, Gayathri and gang
We booked an extended stay at this lovely home with a breathtaking view of The Striat of San Juan de Fuca. It was as lovely as the photos and more. The home was well...........LIKE HOME!
The house is very quiet at the end of a cul-de-sac providing peace, quiet and solitude, with everything in town in walking distance! There is tons of wildlife, there were raccoons that visited us in the the back yard in the evenings and a pair of majestic Bald Eagles that were literally in the back yard tree daily. You can watch the pilot boats, port tenders, Coast Guard vessels and merchant ships from the porch or dining room windows daily as well! And if you drive there or rent a car the activities are endless! We drove to the northern most point in the USA Neah Bay, and 3 of us chartered a fishing boat and along with the Captain caught 4 limits of fish in less than a half day!
The home is completely stocked for all your needs and the owners are unlike any other people you have ever come across! They are a remarkable couple! And we look forward to staying there again so you better book it up or we will!
See you again soon C&J!
We stayed at the property for 2 nights in December. The property was very clean and well appointed. The location was spectacular. Amazing views, quiet, private and centrally located. The surrounding area has volumes to offer but it's equally enjoyable relaxing at the property. What sets this property apart is the owner. The hospitality, care and attention afforded to my family and I was world class.
We had a very busy stay here at this beautiful place. One day at the Hoh rain forest and Rialto Beach. One day at the oyster farm and tomorrow morning is Hurricane Ridge. So much to do and we just didn't have enough time.
We loved watching the ships, the tugboats and ferries and the 'Ship Finder' app was amazing.
Thank you for being such a wonderful host!
I love this bluff house! The property is exactly as pictured. Communication easy and everything was a breeze. Cindy made us peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies, enough to last the whole weekend :) much appreciated! There's so much to do here, hiking, sightseeing, good restaurants, or day trips to the coast. The deck is a wonderful place for breakfast, happy hour, or just relaxing in general. What a view! My husband and I stayed here along with our friends with a 7 year old, plenty of room for everyone. I like how the living area is separated from the bedrooms, so if people are up early or up late chatting, it's not a big deal. We just might have to come back next year! Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful bluff house with us, Cindy!!
Our stay at the Bluff House was much too short. The best stocked kitchen we've ever had, wonderful views of the Strait, quiet and comfortable. The best review we can give is to say we'd go back in a heartbeat. The owners were very accommodating.
We knew the view would be amazing but it was even more than we expected. It was breathtaking! There were five adults in our party and we felt very much at home. Bluff House is very roomy so we were not bumping in to each other. The furniture is comfy and there are touches of antiques throughout that give the feeling of a real home. The kitchen is well stocked - everything you will ever need. The owners are a phone call away if you should need anything. First thing in the morning we would have coffee on the cozy deck and watch the ferry arrive and depart. After we returned in the late afternoon we had cocktails there. Blankets are handy if you get chilled. The home is close to town and there are lots of things to do in Port Angeles but our favorites were the Olympic National Park rain forest and collecting rocks and seaglass. There is a tub in the 3rd bedroom with antique plumbing. We didn't use this and shared a shower off the hall which was not inconvenient at all. If you like to take baths you will probably like the tub. This is a great house for a vacation. You won't be sorry. We are already talking about going back next year. The Pacific Northwest has been unspoiled, not like the condos and hi-rises that we have on the Atlantic Ocean. What a memorable trip!
There are wonderful restaurants and unique shops just blocks away in downtown PA. The Olympic National Park has limitless opportunities for adventures in nature. It has lakes, ocean beaches, tide pools, mountains, trails and some of the most incredible forests in the world. The 100+ mile Olympic Discovery Trail is 2 blocks away, offering endless distance for biking or running. (We have an official marathon every June). There are several marine sanctuaries in the area where sea life is on full view.
There are alpine wildflowers to rival anything in the Alps, Lakes and rivers that are clear and cold highlight many hikes and the Hoh Rainforest is a world treasure with its Hall of Mosses and some of the biggest trees in the world. Rainfall varies through the different environments from 15 inches a year to over 180, so you can imagine the variety of plants and microclimes.
There are wild ocean beaches that inspire awe and quiet forest glens that make you sigh. One of the quietest places on earth is within Olympic National Park.
Recently, 2 dams have been removed from the Elwah River which will be a grand experiment to try and revitalize one of the country's largest salmon runs. Vestiges of the now-gone lakes are open for exploring as well as the area where the river meets the salt water. On a recent day, there were upwards of 40 bald eagles at the mouth of the river, plus 30 to 40 seals, all checking out the menu of seabirds and fish.
