180 degree view from lanai! no wall blocking on right or left side 5 feet wider than most 1 bedrooms and all corner units. Book now for next winters whale season. Open Lanai !! no windows or screens enclosing.

Unit 805 is in the center section of the building on the eighth floor. This one bedroom unit consists of a lanai “outdoor patio”, living dining room area, complete fully stocked kitchen, bathroom, and a bedroom. New Sleeper sofa March 2013.

The Maui Kai amenities include heated pool, lounge sunning areas at pool and beach side of building, gas grills, cabana with full kitchen, internet computer for emails and boarding pass printouts, covered picnic tables for guest use, and laundry facilities.

My home is fully furnished and has a complete kitchen; everything you need is in the unit to make complete meals. A supermarket is a short walk or drive back out to Lower Honoapillani Rd.

The Condo has cable TV with HBO, CD Player, Ipod player, 50” Plasma TV in living room, 32” LCD TV in bedroom, King sized bed in bedroom, and makeup desk in bedroom.

The building has central air conditioning, not all buildings on Maui have ac the Maui Kai is comfortable regardless of the weather if on a warm night a cool night’s sleep is desired.

Many of our guests never feel the need for Air conditioning and enjoy leaving the windows open to listen to the ocean and feel the breeze. The Maui Kai is off the main road and traffic noise is nearly nonexistent when the bedroom windows are open. When the lanai doors are open all that is heard is the soothing sound of the ocean surf.

Having air conditioning and no road noise will assure a restful sleep and a quality vacation in the Maui Kai 805.

It’s the perfect condo: Quite with a private lanai on the 8th story you are able to look down into the clear water and watch turtles and fish. 5 feet wider than most condos the extra space makes a difference it feels open and spacious.

Ten minutes from Lahaina and just a few from the restaurants of Whalers Village. Not to far from anything and the best unobstructed views of the ocean and outer islands on Maui

My husband and I recently spent two weeks at suite 805 of the Maui Kai and it was everything we had hoped for! It was amazing to walk in and the room was exactly as depicted in the photos on line. There was ambient lighting, music playing and a lovely basket of goodies waiting for us along with a welcome note. What an introduction! We noticed immediately how clean and immaculate everything was. We had such fun exploring every drawer and cupboard to find everything one could want in a well maintained condo. My husband, who did all the cooking, was delighted to discover every little detail one would need in a kitchen was not overlooked. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept well with the a/C turned off and the screen doors open with the ceiling fans on. Like other reviews, it was soothing to hear the ocean waves crashing on shore. Of course the views from the large lanai did not disappoint! To say this condo has ocean front views is an understatement! One is literally overlooking the surf. The pictures are exactly what you see! And it is very private! We spent early mornings on the lanai - before the sun rose and gazed in awe at the glorious display of stars. Later in the afternoon, at sunset, the views again, were breathless. Dealing with Gary was a dream and he was very pleasant and accommodating. We felt he really cared. Restaurants, grocery stores and shopping malls are all within easy access. We walked down to Duke's one evening and drove into Lahaina to Ruth's Chris Steak House and took another short drive up to Kapalua to have sushi at the Ritz Carleton - each one first class. This was our first experience renting a condo on the Hawaiian Islands and we couldn't' be more impressed. We enjoyed snorkeling in the surf, but also loved the pool and the quiet atmosphere. We would definitely stay at the Maui Kai and specifically suite 805 again and would highly recommend this property to anyone who is considering a condo in West Maui.

Fantastic!!

We went to Maui for our 25th Anniversary and decided to stay in a private condo instead of the big resorts. We were delighted with our choice. Gary's condo was as wonderful as advertised. He is easy to work with, was able to provide us with some good tips for first time island visitors and a very comfortable place to relax and watch the breathtaking sunsets after a busy day of island adventure. We're already talking about the next time we go to Maui. When we do Gary's place will be the first place we check.

Exactly as advertised ... great place!

Gary was awesome to deal with and the condo was exactly as listed. Anytime we had a question Gary was happy to answer and he gave us some great recommendations for local food etc. The property was very clean and the pictures do not do the view justice ... walking into the condo for the first time and seeing the view is breathtaking. We would recommend this property to anyone! We would also recommend a trip to Star Noodle for a great lunch or dinner and if you like tacos there is a stand close by called Ono Taco ... really good! Mahalo Gary!

Multiple time VRBO user. First time to Maui. The owner offered excellent advice on where to go and what to do and how to manage expectations. The owner was very easy to work with and genuinely cared that we had a good time. Thank you, Gary. The unit was clean, well appointed, and everything worked. The unit has a library of books, which included an outstanding snorkeling guide to Maui and an island insider book. We used both considerably during our stay, both of which were very helpful in choosing where to snorkel and how to get there. The guide book provided extensive help on our trip around the island thru Hana. Saved us time and money. We used the high powered binoculars to enjoy the beautiful vista from the balcony. We also saw sea turtles a couple of times. The washer & dryer are just a few steps down the hall from the condo, and both worked very well. As well stocked a unit as I've ever seen regarding utensils and cooking needs. Dishwasher was easy to use and worked great. Bedding was very clean, comfortable, and appeared new. Furniture is sturdy and comfortable. Very quiet unit. Had no noise issues at all. September is the time to go! No crowds, no lines at restaurants, wide open beaches. Super weather.
Maui Kai has a nice pool, ping pong table, hot tub, and covered picnic area. Quiet, convenient, and easy. We never had any trouble with a parking spot. Always space available. When we come back to Maui, this is where we will stay.

Great Condo - Would definitely stay again

Everything was terrific, we would highly recommend renting this condo. As you will see in all other reviews, the views of the beach & ocean from the lanai are just terrific. The condo is very comfortable and well maintained, with lots of recent updates as described. And Gary has stocked the place with all kinds of interesting books, guides & games. Not to mention plenty of extra tissues, toilet paper, paper towels & sunscreen (perhaps the sunscreen was left by prior renters). Be sure to check out all the drawers – we found many interesting & thoughtful things there. And Gary had a wonderful goody basket waiting to welcome us on arrival.
Gary is very responsive and describes the condo, building, grounds etc very well & honestly. The pool & hot tub are terrific & clean, the hot tub kept at a nice temp around 100-102. Parking is quite convenient. The folks in the resort office are friendly & helpful.
Things to be aware of/suggestions for improvement (all minor):
- The beach is not really good for swimming or body-surfing (rocky/coral). There is a ‘channel’ about 50-100yds north of the building that is good for swimming (you’ll see people there, and can also see it from the lanai), but it is only 10-20yds wide. I understand there is also one to the south about the same distance. For better swimming & body-surfing, see my recommendations below.
- The pool/hot tub area closes at 10pm. Gary is of course aware of this inconvenience but cannot control it, it is run by bldg mgmt.
- There is a flat $49 damage insurance fee, non-refundable. The fee does not go to Gary, it is truly insurance that covers you should you damage the condo, and is billed directly by the ins co. Most other places charge a refundable deposit. Gary gets no money from the fee, rather uses it as a no-hassle alternative to charging then refunding damage deposits, and/or chasing folks for damage$ after the fact should it be necessary. While I understand the convenience, I’d urge Gary to drop this approach and go back to deposits. For those of us that take care of condos we rent (and I’m guessing that’s the very large majority of those who rent places like Gary’s), it’s an expensive policy that should be offered as an alternative rather than as the only option. I questioned but went along with the charge without much objection, but it did not sit right with me.

- Duke’s Beach House, just south of the condo. You can walk along the beach to get there if you like.

I think it’s a great place to swim as do many locals who do so daily. There is abundant sea life from turtles and rays to eels and fish right next to the building. Unlike a sea floor that is all sand with much less marine life. It is however not a great place to body surf and I cannot really recommend anyone body surf on Maui unless they are an expert. I looked for years on the islands for a place for my family to enjoy not just for the beautiful and beaches but also close to all the activities that the island has to offer. That's why I purchased in the Maui Kai, if you are 8 or 80. It’s a great place to swim and snorkel observing the colorful and diverse marine life. Many of my guest have had the opportunity to swim next to Green Sea Turtles that often are right in front of the building.
If snorkeling is not for you it’s a short drive to other parts of the island and other beaches. While on Maui I always recommend guest explore other beaches! Maui is wonderful place and every beach is a little bit different. Maui Kai is truly the perfect home right on the ocean.

Maui Kai is the closest condo to the ocean in Kaanapali, Hawaii Magazine 2013 voted Ka’anapali it’s number one shoreline spot for Whale watching. This is the place to sit on your lanai and see whales. Lahaina is 10 minutes away by car. Historic Lahaina Town offers a myriad of Restaurants, Bars, Art Studios, clothing shops etc.

Also the Lahaina Marina offers Parasailing, Scuba and snorkeling trips, cruises, sport fishing, dolphin watching, whale watching trips in season.
