Hampstead Heath: Hampstead Heath is hundreds of acres of parkland just 20 min from central London. A minute's walk from the garden gate is a children's' paddle pool & playground next to which is the comprehensive Highgate Harriers athletic facility. A little on from there is the Lido; a 60 m ozone filtered swimming pool. A short walk further on are tennis courts, a small cafe & bowling green. The heath also has a series of ponds that date back centuries. These include separate men's & women's swimming ponds as well as a mixed bathing pond, fishing ponds, model boating pond & ponds set aside for bird life. Perhaps the heath's greatest feature is Kenwood House;' once a Rothchild stately home now a part of the heath where one can view a substantial art collection and in whose beautiful grounds one can enjoy open air concerts in summer.
Shopping: The apartment is a short walk to transport which will have you in London's famous Oxford St. in around 20 min from leaving home. At South End Green, just 5 min walk there supermarkets,small shops a bakery a fresh fruit and vegetable stall, a good delicatessen, pharmacies, dry cleaners, a book shop pubs and restaurants. Also at South End Green is Hampstead Heath railway station whose trains will take you to Richmond on Thames (great shopping) or to the heart of the Olympic village in 20 min. Picturesque Hampstead Village, 12 min walk boasts outlets for most of the major fashion houses and also has some nice pubs and restaurants.
Transport and health: South End Green, 5 min walk has a bus depot where you can take buses to anywhere in London. Hampstead Heath overground railway station is also there. A further 5 min will get you to Belsize Park tube station on the Northern line.
Hampstead Royal Free hospital, one of London's largest teaching hospitals is just 6 min walk.
