This studio is centrally located to major attractions in San Diego. Closeness of Convention Center, downtown, Gaslamp, and Balboa Park & Zoo is a major draw for tourists. We live close by to this property so we know first hand how convenient it is.
The closeness to the airport makes it easy for travel days. The bus line on the corner insures easy access to great restaurants in the Gaslamp. Taxi fares are not expensive if you don't have a car. Closeness to freeways insures quick access to beaches, whether it be Mission, La Jolla or Del Mar or across the bay to Coronado.
The place was adorable and clean. A bit smaller than it shows in the photos but didn't matter since I was alone. Plenty of closet/drawer space, efficient kitchen and bath. Very convenient to highways without being too close, and to the Gaslamp Qaurter area which is chock full of shops and eateries.
We enjoyed our stay at the bungalow a lot. We ate breakfast in every morning and ate dinner some evenings - kitchen had everything needed for cooking and we enjoyed eating on the patio. We also used the laundry facility once during our trip which was great to have onsite. Everything was very clean! Plenty of towels, shampoo and soap supplied in the bathroom. We couldn't have asked for more. The location was also great. Right by Balboa Park and less then 10 minutes to get to the marina and downtown. We had a great time and would definitely book this property again.
This property is a little off-putting from the outside, but wonderfully modern inside. It is across the street from a tattoo parlor, which wasn't a problem at all even though it got our worried attention when we first arrived.
The upside is that the place is very reasonably priced and extremely convenient to public transportation, the #2 bus stopping just two blocks away. It was clean, there were plenty of towels, and the bed was very comfortable. The refrigerator was nice and big, and the two burner cook top was great. Granite counters, too!
We were there during a hot spell, and wished the air conditioner was more efficient for the size of the space, as it was really hot in the kitchen (which, by the way, is down to just one fork and also missing a can opener. Simple problem to rectify.) Maybe it needs to be repaired as the temperature in the room averaged an uncomfortable 80 degrees even though we had the temp sent on 73.
The little front yard with a table and chairs could be charming, but the upholstery was really dirty, the vines were dying and could use a trim. The white picket fence is way overdue for paint. I acknowledge that there is a drought, but the effect was that this front yard was more untidy (dare I use "run down") than the neighbor's places up and down the street.
Maybe allowing animals is a positive for you who travel with pets, but the dog in the adjacent unit barked loudly intermittently, and we could even hear it's nails clicking on the floor very clearly through the kitchen wall. Perhaps it is there for only a few days so that won't be an issue going forward.
A little TLC would go a long way to making this place a real 5 star property to come to in San Diego.
This apartment was perfect for our visit to San Diego. Really close (5 min drive) to Balboa Park and zoo and a 10-15 mim drive to to the beautiful beaches. The apartment itself was very cozy and comfortable with air conditioning, which was a bonus!
Perfect get away !

The moment of contact with Kate made the decision to book easy; however being there on the property will be the reason for our return. My family and I went to visit our daughter in the Navy. We were centrally located, on a well kept property, and with all the amenities needed for a week long visit. I was able to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner with every utensil and pot needed.. as if I were at home. The owners were also very accommodating for booking in such a short notice. I have referred and will continue to do so because there is no other place in California that would be as comfortable and beautiful as this one.
San Diego Zoo is world famous & just 4 minutes away by car as is Balboa Park, and Balboa Park Golf Course. Closeness to freeways allows easy access to multiple beaches in area such as Mission, La Jolla, and Del Mar. Closeness to waterfront allows sightseeing of historical Midway aircraft carrier, & Sea of India, oldest & still operating merchant sailing ship. Also ferry to Coronado with historical Hotel Del Coronado & great beach.
