Situated in the 'Sunny South East' Gorey is home to many fine sandy beaches that are popular with local surfers and is ideal for fun family holidays. We can cater for either individual families or extended groups of up to 6 people in our fabulous rustic cottage “Swallows Rest” . The property is set on over one acre of mature gardens in a beautiful rural setting yet only one mile from the bustling market town of Gorey. The area offers visitors a large selection of historic and natural attractions including the J F Kennedy Homestead, Ferns Castle, Craanford Mills with family entertainment and things to do such as Kia Ora Mini farm and Pirates Cove to mention a few. Gorey also offers the walking enthusiast a choice of hillwalking destinations and family friendly walking trails. You can choose between a nice relaxed walk in Courtown Woods or go for a more strenuous hillwalk up nearby Lug Mountain!
Golf within 10 minutes of cottage: When it comes to great golf, Courtown has it wrapped up. No more than 5 minutes away, you have the 'Courtown Golf Club'. Founded in 1936, has a Par 71 18 Hole course with a highly regarded and testing layout. Every hole has unique features and particular features are the Par 3's. It is a course to be enjoyed by scratch golfer and beginner alike.
Located just 8 minutes from the cottage is the Seafield Golf & Country Club, a breathtaking new championship course. Parkland, Health-Land and seaside combined, Seafield features a stunning 5 Star restraint overlooking the back 9 and the Irish sea which is also open to the public.
Ten minutes away is Ballymoney Golf Club, Ballymoney. It is an 18 Hole Public Golf Course Its natural and undulating fairways make it a pleasant course for all golfers. (8am - Dusk) open for green fees at all times and offers great value for money.
Sea Angling in North Wexford : The village of Cahore in North Wexford has over the years, earned a reputation for being the premier venue for Sea Angling on the East Coast of Ireland.
This achievement is due to large stocks of fish and the vast variety of specimen fish recorded off the Cahore coast. Cahore itself is a great competition venue with annual events being held for members of the Irish Federation of sea Anglers.
Indeed many of the top anglers in the country fish from Cahore. Other noted areas along the coast are Courtown and Castletown.
The most popular types of fish caught along this coast are toper rays, smooth hound, bull hiss, super-dogs and bass, while the recommended baits to use are mackerel, herring or rag worm.

Hillwalking in North Wexford: The Carnew Enterprise Centre are currently developing walks on the beautiful and breath-taking hills of North Wexford.
To date, Croghan, Slieve Bhui, Ballyfad and Annagh have already been plotted. There are laminated maps with items of interest, duration of walks and useful information available through Gorey Tourist Office at a nominal charge.
When hill-walking people are advised to wear suitable clothing and always inform others of your destination and the time you expect to return.
It is wise to bring a torch, whistle and wear appropriate clothing such as layers of say, a T-shirt, fleece and waterproof anorak with walking trousers and or gators and good walking boots are essential, If your feet hurt you won't walk!
There are many local walking clubs and routes that you can avail of throughout North Wexford.
