About Joe Pappaly / Mimi

We are Joe & Mimi, the owners who live in the main house upstairs in this beautiful Victorian. We purchased this house a few months ago, did some major renovation recently and decided to rent out the units below as vacation rentals. We would love to share our home with you and even give you some insights as to what to do, where to go and be of help if you are unsure of how to get around in the Bay Area, during your stay with us.

Joe Pappaly / Mimi purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Joe Pappaly / Mimi chose Alameda

We bought this property because we always wanted to live in a victorian and we simply love Alameda. The people, the weather, the proximity to everything and most of all the tranquility of this island.

What makes this apartment unique

We chose this particular property because of its unique Victorian look & feel of it. This home was built in 1891 by Peter Christiansen who was a very well known builder during his time. History books claim that he had built several Victorian homes in Alameda. This particular home that he had built was for himself. Historians claim that because of that, he used the best types of wood and construction materials available during his era to build this home. It sure seemed like that during our major remodel.

We have nothing but praises for both Joe and Mimi. Their accommodation was much more than we expected. Everything was pristine and made our vacation so enjoyable. They were helpful and gave us lots of tips on where to eat, and how to move around SFO. We would definitely stay there again if we are in SFO.

Owner's Response: Thank you Sharon for the kind words. We did not get a chance to show you how to make Pork Vindaloo. Hopefully next time we will. Plus, we will get you a curry leaf plant on your next visit. :-)
Thank you for choosing to stay with us.

My husband and I came to Alameda to be with my siblings & spouses, working on our parents' house. How rejuvenating to return to this peaceful setting every evening. Their lovely patio out back was very nice for relaxing, reading, using the laptop. Joe and Mimi are great hosts, helpful and kind.

My daughter and I came to visit the USS Hornet museum where my late father had served from 1955-1958. Joe and his wife Mimi were so welcoming to us, letting my daughter use there bike to go to the store and going out there way to take us to the ship! The unit so super cute and has everything you could possibly need. Im excited for my next trip and I know where I will be staying. Thank you

Apartment is exactly as described. Comfortable and well appointed. Perfect for a solo traveler or a couple looking for a base in the East Bay.
Park St shops and restaurants are an easy walk as is a well stocked local grocery store.
Street parking was no problem and the freeway is easily accessible.
Assuming availability, I will stay here everytime I visit Alameda in the future.
