Bring Your Furry Friends! We are animal lovers and welcome your pets with open arms. The entire 2.5 acre property is fenced to keep your pets safely inside and other wild critters out. Please note that there is a pet fee of $25 per pet for your stay. When booking please include a note letting us know how many pets will be joining you. We also offer pet setting for a small fee should you choose to leave your pets behind during your explorations around Joshua Tree.
Traveling with Kids? We have a very nice pack-n-play for your use and a pretty cool dollhouse and toys for your little ones. Also, we don't include children under 12 in the calculation of the guest count. The little tykes stay free.
Your Humble Hosts: The 2.5 acre property is shared with a separate owner-occupied home, inhabited by mellow and desert loving folks. We keep to ourselves and make the jacuzzi and sauna available for your sole enjoyment during your entire stay. We are available for any needs or questions and hope to make your stay as easy and carefree as possible, but stay out of your hair unless you need us. RockHouse Retreat is a separate home with it's own driveway and outdoor patio.
Please Note: During the cold winter months (Dec - Feb) it does take a while to heat an in-ground hot tub and thus requires a little advanced planning before your soak in the hot tub. At times it can take up to an hour to heat for full enjoyment. It just requires a little planning ahead. All you need to do it text us and we will get it heating for you in advance.
Special Events: RockHouse is set up nicely to accommodate weddings, meetings, special celebrations. We recently hosted a gorgeous wedding here in June and are awaiting pix.

About Rebecca Berggren
I live in San Diego, but spend A LOT of time up at RockHouse to decompress, recharge and connect with my little family and friends. I am a social entrepreneur, digital creator, student of life, adventurous, kind 'n quirky mama, wife & friend. Traveling renews and energizes me. Meditation, yoga and running nurtures my body and soul and calms the monkeys in my mind. Exploring and learning about photography is my guilty pleasure.
I manage the reservations and marketing for RockHouse, while my mother and brother provide the onsite support. See the story in the sidebar to the left for an explanation of how RockHouse Retreat came to be.
Rebecca Berggren purchased this house in 2009
Why Rebecca Berggren chose Yucca Valley
RockHouse Retreat and has become quite the popular desert pad beginning at the end of 2011! Here's a little recent history of how it came to be a vacation rental. So, I found this stunning 'compound' for sale near Joshua Tree at the end of 2009 and was able to use my amazing powers of persuasion to convince my mother and brother to purchase it sight unseen and leave New York to relocate to the wonderland of the high desert.
OK...so, MAYBE my powers of persuasion had NOTHING AT ALL to do with it. My mother has always been obsessed with the desert and was truly the one who nurtured my connection and passion for this land. You see, she's a rock hound and has a crazy cool connection and fascination with the history of the West. My brother can't get enough of the endless off-roading and hiking adventures.
Originally RockHouse was intended as a desert escape for the family, but at the very end of 2011 we decided to share the joys of the property and land and made it available to fellow travel lovers. And so glad we did!!! We've met some really cool folks (and their pets!) who share a love for adventure and the outdoors.
So I present to you my mother and brother, Cheryl and Nick, who are now the fantastically chill hosts for your stay at RockHouse. They live in a completely separate home on the same 2.5+ acre property and keep out of your hair, unless you need them.
Guestbook comments from the owner
Very pleased with my stay in Joshua Tree. I was only there briefly for one night, but Rebecca was very easy to communicate with, and her property was very well kept. Huge home with plenty of room to accommodate 6-8 ppl... The photos do not do the property justice. Will definitely stay again in the near future!
