Wow! Is how you will feel as you pull up to our gated home. If you enjoy bird watching and wildlife viewing (we see lots of bunnies, squirrels, deer, fox and turkeys) and can appreciate a rustic home this IS the perfect vacation home for you and your family. Over the 4 manicured acres you will find lots of photo opportunities from the unique bird houses and potting shed handmade from old salvaged architectural pieces, an herb garden, wishing well, a fabulous in ground swimming pool with diving board, cabana with hot tub surrounded by tropical plants such as banana trees, cannas, and elephant ears, the pool/hot tub area has a half bath, and a screened in eating area with a table and chairs. Around back there is a large timber tech deck with an outdoor cooking area equipped with gas grill and screened in living area, roast marshmallows on the outdoor fire pit table or laydown on the double chaise lounger looking up at the stars. Apple, fig and cork screw pussy willows are just some of the trees you will find. There is large playground for the kiddos which includes 2 slides, 2 swings, rock climbing and rope. The front yard is fairly flat and great for a family game of football or soccer. The front porch is welcoming with a swing and rocking chairs. Cedar siding and cedar shank roof give our home the cabin feel.
As you walk into the front door you will discover 14-foot vaulted ceilings with exposed wood beams in the great room boasting oak pegged hardwood floors and a stacked stone wood burning fireplace. A great place to unwind with a glass of wine after a day of seeing all the fun and excitement that Chattanooga and the surrounding area has to offer. Be lazy on the couch searching over 250 channels of Direct TV on a 42' flat screen TV that includes the NFL Sunday Ticket and premium movie channels.
The great room opens to a chefs dream kitchen with plenty of granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances including a flat top stainless stove. Here you will find an abundance of space to cook and entertain with tons of cabinets and drawers filled with all of the cooking necessities. Easy cleaning with a double deep stainless sink and dishwasher overlooking the outdoor cooking area. The dining room area features a handmade aged pine dining room table sure to fit the whole family with a bench on one side and 5 chairs around.
Off of the great room/ kitchen/dining room the french doors open up to an outdoor living space. Relax in the comfort of one of the screened in areas on pottery barn cuddle couches. A GREAT place to sip on your morning coffee, bird watch or flip on the flat screen TV. For those cool spring and fall nights where the stars are abundant turn on the copper heater to warm up.
As you walk down the hall will see no details have been spared. Vintage pine corbels and bookcase with ladder greet you as you walk down the hallway to the rest of the home. Down that hallway you will find a full bath, pantry, and laundry area fully equipped with front end loader washer and dryer.
A stacked stone gas fireplace and sea grass furniture welcome you into the den. Let your creativity go wild in this brightly colored area...play our antique piano or pluck on the guitar. Off of the den you will find the sunroom a peaceful place to read a book, catch up on emails or facebook on the nations highest speed internet. The sunroom overlooks the outdoor courtyard area that leads to the potting shed made from old salvaged architectural pieces and herb garden full of our favorite's lemon mint, basil, oregano, tyme, rosemary, and dill.
French doors will lead you from the sunroom into the 'dinosaur room' my son's favorite! Here you will find the kids room with two twin beds. Already stocked with kids favorite reads, toys and tv. This room is a hit for 'kids' all ages. On the other side of the room an old barn door takes you to a full bath featuring travertine tile throughout and another old barn door.
Off of the other end of the den you will find the master suite. Spa like in every aspect from the smells of lavender and eucalyptus to hardwoods under your feet and above you with a tongue and groove vaulted ceiling...this is our personal oasis. Oversized travertine tiles in the master bath with a large soaking tub, handmade vanity with his and her sinks. Settle down on the pillow top king size bed and hope for a rainy night during your stay. The sound of the rain coming off the cedar shingle roof will make for a romantic evening.
As you walk upstairs you be able to tell you are in the original part of the 'cabin' built in the 1940's with the old hardwood floors. The first bedroom is filled with my grandmom's antique furniture with a double bed, 2 dressers, vanity, trunk, desk and flat screen tv. The second bedroom has my husband uncle's antique double bed. There is a full bathroom upstairs that has been completely remodeled with travertine tiled shower, handmade wood vanity and concrete vanity top.
As you walk downstairs in the basement there is a hidden door our 'wine' room. In the carpeted downstairs there is a queen bed on one side and play area with sofa, games and TV on the other and a full bathroom.
This home is by far the best ever to play hide and seek. Inside there are tons of closets/hiding places (2 in every room) and outside with the barn, shed, screened in rooms the layout of this home makes it so much fun with kids.
