Remodel completed late fall 2012. Five BR, 3BA, FR, Great Room (combination living room/dining room), and eat-in-kitchen. Equally comfortable for two, four, six, or up to twelve occupants. ONE DOES NOT WALK BY ANY OTHER BEDROOM TO ACCESS ANY BEDROOM. Sleeps up to 12. Great for multi-generation gatherings. And three bedrooms have direct access to private patio. All with vistas, two of them with ocean views.

Roche Bobois, Ligne Roset, Baughman, BDI & other top of the line furniture. 2013 65' top rated Panasonic plasma TV. Tempurpedic mattresses (two Cal-King - one of which can be split into two single XL, two queens, one bunk bed and one double) on six of the eight beds, the other two featuring top of the line pillow top mattresses. Feather pillows. New hardwood floors, hardware, lighting (and controls) and granite throughout (counters, bath, fireplace & thresholds). Home enjoys ocean views and enjoys elbow room of 26,000 sf of land which includes adjoining lot owned by same owner. Huge patios including one with sweeping ocean, cove, and North Shore views. Big circular driveway. Parking for 8-10 cars in huge motor court.

SUPERB LOCATION. In the heart of La Jolla, the home is only 0.29 miles from the beaches of La Jolla Shores, a huge crescent-shaped children-friendly beach. It is less than 0.5 miles to Prospect Street and restaurant row and 0.68 miles to the ultra-scenic and world famous La Jolla Cove, a small intimate sheltered beach and 'San Diego's most desirable spot for swimming, snorkeling and diving.' Enjoy being indoors with the feeling of being one with nature. Glass just disappears into the ceilings and many of the walls. YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE OUTDOORS WHILE INSIDE THE HOME. Eight huge skylights bath the home with light while the cedar roof overhang providing natural sun control. Two of the skylights in the bathroom area are ventilating.

And speaking of ventilation, with operative sliding glass windows next to the ceiling in all rooms, catch the ocean breezes and enjoy SUPER cross ventilation. That ventilation eliminates all the hot air that typically rises to the ceiling and creates higher interior than exterior temperatures. No need for mechanical airconditioning nor is any featured. ENJOY LA JOLLA'S FANTASTIC WEATHER WHILE INSIDE YOUR HOME!

Although there is little need for it, enjoy radiant hot water heat in the floors on those cooler winter nights.

Great house for large family!

We spent a week at this wonderful property to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We had 6 adults and 2 children. The home was spacious and well equipped with everything we could possibly need. They even supplied beach umbrellas, beach chairs, beach towels, sand toys and boogie boards so we didn't have to worry about a thing! We enjoyed eating out on the patio with a large enough table to seat all of us. The grill was great - we used to cook a wonderful dinner one evening! There is a Vonn's grocery store close by so it made it easy to stock up the kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped with all the tools necessary to cook. The beds were all very comfy and everyone slept well! We had 3 bathrooms so we had plenty of space for everyone. There is no central air but their are sliding windows at top so you do get the ocean breeze (and there are fans to circulate the air!). As a side note: Torrey Pines is a very busy street - 2 of the bedrooms face the street and can get noisy with traffic when the windows are open. Luckily we had our sound machines so it was able to drown out the noise.

We enjoyed the La Jolla area with its shops and many wonderful restaurants. I will say La Jolla (and Southern California in general) is quite crowded during the summer months. Parking in La Jolla can be quite a challenge. To overcome this challenge at dinner time, we used Uber (like a taxi service) and we would get picked up and dropped off. My husband would just order a car from his smart phone and within minutes we would have a car. No one had to worry about parking!

Some of our favorite places to eat in La Jolla were the Whisk n Laddle, Piatti - La Jolla, George's at the Cove (rooftop), and Puesto Mexican Street Food (yummy tacos!). Lots to do for everyone - the La Jolla Cove with the Sea Lions, San Diego Zoo, Legoland, and USS Midway Museum just to name a few things we did.

John was great and easy to work with - very accommodating and answered any questions or concerns we may had. We would definitely stay there again! Thanks for making it a memorable vacation for the entire family!

Unique La Jolla Property

Our family of 4, including our 2 adult children, spent 3 nights at this unique property. We very much enjoyed our stay and the house was very clean with a well equipped kitchen, a beautiful large TV and comfortable beds. We also made use of the nice Tommy Bahama beach chairs and towels provided with the house. We spent our evenings enjoying the outdoor patio which was secluded, private and quiet. The one thing I would recommend to the owner is installing some more lighting on the patio area as although there are some overhead lights they are not very bright and the table area was quite dark once the sun went down. There is also an upper deck with a marvelous ocean view but the trek up & down could be precarious for some. The reason for a 4-star and not 5-star rating is the road noise. The house is located on a very busy street and although we were not generally bothered by it, our son had a hard time sleeping in one of the bedrooms facing the front of the house due to the traffic noise. The back bedrooms are pretty quiet so the traffic noise wasn't an issue. Also, getting in and out of the driveway can be tricky but we managed to get the hang of it.
The owner, David, met us at the house when we arrived and showed us around and answered any questions we had. He also returned our deposit very promptly.
All in all, I would recommend this property as long as you are not terribly bothered by the street noise and enjoy the experience of a somewhat unusual, 'historical' property.

GREAT FOR 3 FAMILY VACATION

WE WERE THREE GENERATIONS. BOTH OF OUR SONS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE HOUSE WAS PERFECT FOR ALL AND WELL EQUIPPED WITH PAPER GOODS AND ESSENTIALS. THE FURNISHING ARE ALL FIRST CLASS FROM THE 65 INCH FLAT SCREEN TV, THE WEBER GAS BBQ, THE TERRIFIC BEDS AND THE UPSCALE KITCHEN. THE HOUSE COMES WITH ALL THE BEACH EQUIPMENT, CHAIRS, UMBRELLAS, BOOGIE BOARDS, AND TOWELS.

IN ORDER TO REACH THE BEACH YOU MUST CROSS TORREY PINES ROAD. AT CERTAIN TIMES THAT CAN BE INTIMIDATING, ESPECIALLY WITH SMALL CHILDREN. WE SOLVED THIS BY LOADING ALL THE GEAR IN THE CARS AND DRIVING THE .29 OF A MILE TO THE BEACH. THIS ALSO MADE IT EASIER WITH ALL THE BEACH EQUIPMENT. WE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM PARKING WITHIN A BLOCK OF THE BEACH ACCESS. IT WAS ALSO A GREAT BEACH.

THE OWNER WAS VERY EASY TO DO BUSINESS WITH AND MADE THE STAY A VERY NICE EXPERIENCE. WE WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO OUR FRIENDS.

Great house for large family vacation

My family made up of 6 adults and 4 children had a great stay at the Woodhouse in La Jolla. It was a great value for the price. The sleeping accommodations were great and the location was super convenient. The only draw back was the traffic on Torrey Pines, but 90% of the time we were able to enter and exit the drives with minimal delays. The owner was very accommodating/ hospitable and worked with us to make sure we had what we needed for our grand children pack n play and high chair. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

Great stay

I stayed here with four other women. We had a great time, walking on the beach every morning and spending a few afternoons walking to the nearby shops and restaurants in La Jolla. The house is lovely, with lots of pretty wood inside and beautiful seating areas outside.

Great Space

I recently took my wife and seven children to stay in this home. The privacy was nice and the home was very large and laid out well for a large family. The deck above the property allowed for great views as well. We loved the unique architecture of the property and enjoyed the close proximity to the village.Great time!
