I am a long time admirer of mid-century modern architecture. When for the first time in 40 years this gem became available for sale, I couldn't resist the opportunity to create a wonderful mid-century modern living space with all the amenities of a new house. The absolutely breathtaking mountain and desert views and quiet private location make this house a very special place.
We rented this house for a whole month, while using it mainly on weekends and for TG Holidays. All worked out very well, the owner was very accommodating and responsive when (minor) issues arose. We can highly recommended this place!
The house has two (!) types of A/C for the summer (which we did not need in November), but no heating system (other than a "duraflame" log burning fire place), so nights/mornings could get chilly should a cold front hit the desert in winter.
I in particular liked the location, away from the the center, in a quiet area with nice opportunities to walk at any time of day and in any desired direction (open desert, or mountains, or a nice golf course/club area), and bikeable distance of about 2.5 miles to town for groceries or restaurants.
This place is a cute little getaway in a quiet neighborhood not far from town and Indian Head. Furnished in vintage style, it still has the modern appointments, notably the wonderful master bed and the kitchen. The fireplace is a plus. Two massive sliding doors facing to the north bathe the interior with light. The views out the back are lovely; much of the surrounding area remains undeveloped, giving a wonderful open feel to the views (not to mention a sense of privacy). A plus is the numerous desert birds that spend time in the ocotillo out back, morning and evening. Our kids were very comfortable, and they enjoyed lounging in the living room, as we did. The owner/manager was very nice, ready with recommendations for the area, and available when we needed something. Highly recommended.
Staying at this spacious house was very pleasant: we loved the hardwood floors, the huge screened windows, the fireplace, washer and dryer, well stocked kitchen, tasteful interior design - and definitely the most comfortable king size bed! The location couldn't be better: quiet, excellent and unobstructed views, yet within easy driving distance to shops and restaurants. Highly recommended!
Everything was as described on the website; a quiet location, well maintained home, fantastic view of the northern mountains, carefully selected furniture. We loved the house. Borrego Springs is a perfect place to relax, hike, bike, off-road driving, with a long list of park activities you can join. There is even some respectable cultural entertainment. Several good restaurants.
We enjoyed our stay at this charming and well equipped desert bungalow. The unobstructed views of the surrounding mountains and desert are special. The owner has put much thought into designing and furnishing the house. The master bedroom king size temper pedic bed is very comfortable. The second bedroom has two nice twin beds and is a very attractive room. The wireless internet was fast and easy to use. The large screen flat TV has good cable choices.
Kitchen is complete with everything one may need for cooking and entertaining, The house is located on a small quiet street set apart from other homes. The patio has nice outdoor furniture where one can enjoy the special surroundings.
The mid-century modern house is lovely, smartly decorated with period furniture and equipped with all mod cons. Sleeping on the TempurPedic mattress in the master bedroom was pure bliss. Sitting in the living room and gazing at the glow on the surrounding mountains was equally wonderful. The house is located on the more scenic and quieter north side of Borrego Springs, walking distance from a desert arroyo that goes on for miles and not far from the new steel animal sculptures and citrus orchards. The quiet street has just a few houses and backs up onto the desert. Each day swept us further into the vastness around us.
