This property is well suited for vacationing with multiple generations, more than one family, or with a group of friends.
The original log cabin has two bedrooms with queen beds, and a loft with a full bed and a single bed.
The bathroom has a tiled walk in shower. This cabin has a fireplace, screen porch and large deck overlooking the lake, a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, satellite tv, and wireless Internet.
The second cabin has a king bed in the bedroom, a
sleeping loft with queen mattress, a full futon trundle,
and two pullout love seats. There are two bathrooms in
the cabin, one with a shower and one with a bathtub.
There is a fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, dining area,
satellite tv, and a grill and picnic table on the deck.
This a great location for 'quiet sport' enthusiasts.
Spend the day swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, or just relaxing on the deck with a good book.
There are two docks on the property, one for
swimming and one for fishing. In the evening enjoy the
lakeside fire pit and picnic area, or take a short walk thru the woods to the gazebo and sauna which are
joined by a large deck.
While you are here, take advantage of all that the
Hayward area has to offer, golf courses, restaurants,
shopping, antiquing, LCO casino, horseback riding, etc.
There is something for everyone to do or simply relax
and enjoy the gardens and the beautiful north woods
I grew up just North of Hayward, and moved back ten years ago after several years in 'the big city' of Minneapolis. The North Woods is in our blood, and I'm delighted to be raising two young children up here with my husband.
Susan and Jeff Diedrich purchased this cabin in 1990
My husband, Jeff, and I fell in love with these cabins on this beautifully wooded property the minute we saw them, and have spent lots of happy times here with our children, including kayaking the beautiful lake. A dear friend of ours owns the property, and as she lives elsewhere, has asked that we manage the properties for rent.
Both Susan and Jeff were what made our vacation experience exceptional. They were so accomindating in a time of need and we just feel in love with this property. Great to have the two cabins if you have a large group or young ones. We were able to go back and forth to cabins to play games once the babies were alsleep using baby monitors. The sauna was a highlight for us esp when we did the cool dip in the lake. The kayaks were used daily we found it a great lake to explore, you can paddle for miles if you hook into the chain of lakes. We took full advantage of all the amenities. Thanks for everything!
The cabins were very nice, and the property was awesome. Just what we were looking for as it was very large, secluded, with great lake views and access, but still close enough to town and easy to get supplies. The two cabins slept 12 comfortably. Rented a pontoon from a resort right on the lake which was extremely easy and allowed us to explore and fish Placid Lake along with all the connected lakes, but there are plenty of canoes and kayaks already available there. Owners were very friendly and easy to deal with.
I needed a special place for my wife's family to be able to join us for her birthday. We came in from all over the country, and believe me, to a person everyone was blown away by the Duets! Sue and Jeff were incredibly helpful and patient. No one wanted to leave to do anything but enjoy the lake and the houses. It was a perfect vacation, and if you're interested in seeing some beautiful country and have fun fishing, swimming, and boating, this is the place for you. I wholeheartedly recommend this incredible place.
This property is really lovely. The pictures don't do justice to the views, the property and cabin interiors. We had a total of 12, between adults and kids, and we all had a great time. Both cabins are comfortably set up and offer fabulous views of Placid Lake. The dock is easy to launch a boat at, and the incline from the lake is gradual, rather than hundreds of steps straight up. We never heard another person, but we saw large snapping turtles, otter, cranes, eagles, deer, and of course, loved listening to the loons and bullfrogs. The lake is quiet, not a lot of boat traffic, but we were able to water ski. You will love this place if:
1. You like privacy. 10 acres with incredible frontage.
2. You like to fish. We caught many, and fed three families fish fry the last night.
3. You enjoy kayaking. Great lake for it.
4. You have a big group and don't want to cram into the same house.
5. You appreciate a clean place.
6. You like a screen porch and a good book. In addition to the screen porch on the lower cabin, the gazebo offers a quiet getaway.
7. Your idea of fun is to take a steam sauna then jump in the lake.
8. You love simply relaxing with your favorite beverage and enjoying the lake views.
The only thing the Duet doesn't have is a sloped grass lawn and sandy beach, which would have been nice for the toddlers in our group, but that would take away some of its ambiance. The swimming dock was great and offered a nice drop off for cannon-balling.
The firepit offers incredible sunset views.
The management team was friendly and helpful and made sure our stay was pleasant.
The Duet was the perfect place for our family and friends Hayward getaway. My wife and I and our kids (ages 16 and 13) stayed in the log cabin and our friends and their 1 year old daughter stayed in the other - a perfect set up for nap time etc. The cabins are very comfortable. We especially loved the great patio, deck and screen porch overlooking the lake to sit and relax with morning coffee. The property is huge. The docks were great for our boat and the kayaks and canoe that are provided were a lot of fun. The lake is great and perfect for tubing and cruising and the fishing was awesome. We caught everything from perch to muskies! We also had our dogs along who LOVED exploring the property and the lake. The location was really convenient and close to town, restaurants, other lakes and golf. The management team took care of everything and the property was just as described - even though the pictures don't do it justice. We've been coming to Hayward for many years and the Duet is a new favorite for us.
Amazing time. Cabins are both lovely. Setting is beautiful. Had a wonderful time with our family. So much to do from canoing, fishing, walking, and just enjoying the scenery which included beavers, otters, deer, and snapping turtles to name a few Susan who manages the property was very accommodating and pleasant. Made the experience even better.
Quiet retreat 12 miles from Hayward, near golf courses, LCO casino, horseback riding, antiquing, many supper clubs and resorts. You can stay put and enjoy all that the lake and property have to offer or take advantage of the many attractions around the hayward area.
