We have always loved Northern Michigan!!!
We currently work and reside in the Bay City area.
As the former golf course superintendent here, Ron had always longed to go back to this area.
We had been house hunting out of the country, when it occurred to us, we should consider purchasing Up North. That is exactly what we did. As it turns out, we are fortunate to be located within a few houses of some great long time friends.
We have been associated with rental management companies for the past 12 years and just recently decided we can manage our own property, as I am currently in the property management business and love working with people. My husband still is in the golf course business.
Sue or Ron Karoub purchased this house in 2001
We have friends who own in Michaywe, and were invited to come up for a weekend, along with two other couples. They had informed us that there was a listing just down the street from them. So we planned on seeing the property while we were up for that weekend. We did look at this home and other properties, but both of us decided that this was the house for us and we purchased it immediately.
We loved the combination of the golf course and the woods. We can watch the golfers and see the wildlife scamper around the woods (sometimes in our own yard).
I love all the glass in the back of the house that allows us to watch outside for hours. We find our home to be peaceful, comfortable and relaxing.
Our holiday stay in this Gaylord home was very enjoyable. The home is clean, comfortable, well-stocked, and the owners and caretakers seem to have anticipated what a visitor might want/need while there. The view of the north woods and golf course out the large windows bring calm and serenity (and occasional wildlife and bird sitings!). The kitchen is equipped with good quality cooking utensils and dishes, and there are ample towels and linens. The house was warm and cozy during some very cold northern Michigan winter weather. There are good walking and hiking (skiing/snowshoeing in winter) trails nearby, it is close to Michawye's clubhouse and restaurant, and it is quiet. There are good dog walks in every direction! Once there, though, it's tough to decide whether to just "stay in" or venture out!
The owners responded quickly, courteously, and helpfully to our requests and our interactions with them were polite, prompt and business-like, which I very much appreciated.
I would rent this property again and would highly recommend it to others who are looking for a clean, quiet place to enjoy the peace of the north woods.
We really enjoyed our stay. Home was beautiful and clean. We will be booking for our golf outing again next year.
Stayed with a group of 6 golfers. Convenient to golf courses and other Gaylord attractions and restaurants. We cooked in one night and the kitchen was fully stocked for making dinner and also had a very nice large gas grille. Nice living room/Dining room looking out into a wooded area with a nice deck for sitting outside. Beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were updated.
The owner was very responsive to inquiries and questions. Would definitely recommend the house and are hoping to return next year
My fiance and I try to get away for every Super Bowl weekend and this was by far the best. What a charming house. Complete with cable and wifi we were all set for an extended weekend of relaxing. We watched the game (and the commercials) on a beautiful large screen tv and afterwards relaxed in front of a roaring fire (a real one with real wood!) . We went to dinner at the Michaywe clubhouse on Saturday night and it was good too (Prime Rib dinner). Downtown Gaylord is only about 10 minutes away so there also alot to do there. The house was so wonderful that I am renting it for an annual golf outing we have had for over 20 years. There will be more than enough room for the four of us and it will be great to be right on the golf course. With the large living/family room and an another spacious living/family room area right next to it - both with large flat screen tvs - we will be able to watch all the sports we want. Ron and Sue were great hosts and more the whole experience pleasant and enjoyable.
