Luray Cabin Rental Photos and Description

The best log cabin in Jewell Hollow, Luray Virginia and yes it is ADA compliant! Located near the peak of the Shenandoah Mountains/Skyline Drive, “A Buck’s Peak” is a quiet hide-away that accommodates peace and tranquility to help you and your family relax and “re-charge” the batteries. Four master bedrooms – 3 king beds and 1 queen, “A Buck’s Peak” sleeps 10 (with built in bunk beds) and brags the best views on the mountain. One jet-soaking tub in the upstairs master bedroom and the queen bedroom has an ADA compliant bathroom and shower. Both basement bedrooms have full baths! Hot tub (8-person, 120 jets), 55-inch Sony television with DIRECTV, stainless steel appliances, DVD with DVD library, screened-in porch, jet bathtubs upstairs, and a game room complete with a shuffleboard table, dart board and a Sony Play Station 1 (with games) are just some of the amenities that will ensure you and your family enjoy your stay. We have a super large fire-pit and wood is provided. Additionally, we have two grills; one charcoal and one propane gas. Kitchen has granite counter-tops and stainless steel appliances and is fully stocked with all the pots, pans and plates to cook your meal and enjoy it! Sure, you can do your laundry at the cabin - full washer and dryer units are located next to the game rooms. Wi-fi/internet is available only with your personally-owned hotspot device dependent on your cellular carrier. Verizon seems to have the best access. Pets are certainly welcome and we have a fenced in pet run for exercise. The pet fee is $45 one-time fee for up to two pets – add $15/pet after two. Gravel road takes you up the mountain to this quiet hide-away. Four-wheel-drive highly recommended between Thanksgiving and mid-March. Wounded Warriors should ask about a special discount. Discounts are offered to either military (retired, active, Reservists) or teachers – ask for your discount up front to figure pricing; please do not expect more than one discount i.e. not BOTH military and educator (one or the other - both are equal). Also, please do not request discount after first communication - tell me up front you are military or an educator; thanks. Why Carl S. Ey chose Luray

A Buck's Peak resides in the Cabin Capital of Virginia. It is a brand new log cabin in the middle of nowhere but close enough to enjoy the fun stuff like Luray Caverns, Arrowhead Lake (3 miles away), canoeing and rafting on the Shenandoah River, zip-lining, wine-tasting, hiking, antiquing, all types of biking, great restaurants and nature enjoyment. This cabin will take your breath away with all of the accommodations from a super hot tub to a fully equipped kitchen to a large screen t.v. and incredible game room.

What makes this cabin unique

This is one of a VERY few ADA compliant log cabins in the Virginia's Cabin Capital, Luray, Virginia! Additionally, you can tell people you stayed in 'the holler!' A Buck's Peak is located in what Luray citizens refer to as Jewell Hollow or 'the holler.' We offer either a military discount or an educator discount (not both). Please tell me up front that you are an educator or an active/retired/reservist/former military member.

My family(11 of us) had a most wonderful stay at Buck's Peak cabin. The cabin had everything we wanted. Four bedrooms,3 with king beds and 1 with queen all which were comfortable and cozy. There also were 2 bunkbeds downstairs which the kids used. All bedrooms had a bathroom which was very handy. The kitchen was beautiful and fully stocked with dishes and pots and pans etc.,everything we needed for cooking our holiday dinner and goodies. The living area with the high ceilings was absolutely beautiful and the views from the cabin were breathtaking. Since none of us own a hot tub we enjoyed it immensely-so relaxing! The kids
(and some adults) enjoyed the game room,it kept them entertained. Our dog appreciated the dog run,so nice to have a place that accepts dogs and provides a big area for them. We enjoyed going to Luray Caverns on Christmas day and some our group went ziplining one day. Walmart and other stores were conveniently down the road for getting supplies. It was a bit challenging getting up the driveway but we all manged it with no problems,it was well worth it. All in all a great stay at Christmas ,thanks to Carl and to Pete for making sure everything was in order and for making our visit so enjoyable. I recommend this beautiful cabin if you want some beautiful scenery and great accommodations. I would love to return in the future. Also we appreciated the fact we got a discount for being military families.

What a great cabin high up in the mountains. We hope we can make it in the fall for the changing of the leaves. The ADA bathroom was wonderful, I have 2 brother in laws with MD and having a place big enough to transfer them to the toilet and shower is a must(and this cabin helped us tremendously.) Carl made a trip up while we were there and saw our 2 foot entry ramp which helped us get electric wheelchairs in and out from the gravel drive to the ramp to the cabin(please bring one for now if you have electric wheelchairs which weigh to much to push up onto the concrete slab to the ramp and entrance to the cabin.) Carl has also inquired about lifts that will help the disabled veterans be able to enter the hot tub (so he it looking into different equipment to help them enjoy the stay with everyone else). Bless him for helping those who need different amenities to enjoy the stay with there families. We are Moose members and were able to order a great meal on our first day of arrival, from the Luray Moose Lodge, at the bottom of the mountain by Rt. 211. (Thanks to Renee and mom for feeding us a fantastic meal.) We also order food from Uncle Bucks( ribs, steak, pork chops and sides) in the town of Luray and our last day they wanted pasta( we stopped at Anthony's pizza and pasta in the Food Lion shopping center in Luray for spaghetti &meatballs, linguini and clams, tons of garlic bread. It was a great way not to cook(which was my goal and accomplished). The dog run was great for our Cameron she wanted to know everything going on, we did have to check late at night for coons, and other critters along the fence line, during our walks we did not encounter any wild critters(Thankfully). We also drove the northeast side of the Shenandoah up to front royal and down rte. 11 thru strassburg, Woodstock, mt. Jackson, it was a long drive but a great way to see the scenery and small towns. Take advantage of the area it is beautiful.

Great location for a relaxing fall weekend

We had a great weekend. The cabin was the perfect size for our group of 7 people. We loved the views of the mountain and enjoyed all the amenities, including the large living room area, open kitchen, outdoor fire pit and hot tub.

We had a wonderful time staying at Buck's Peak. It was the perfect size for our group of 10. The cabin is clean and comfortable. We were all able to relax and have a great time slowing down for a bit during this crazy Christmas season. We would recommend Buck's Peak to everyone.

Perfect vacation

  • 5 of 5
My family who visited from Germany and my husband and I stayed at the cabin in November. The cabin and its location are beautiful and perfect and it made our stay memorable in every way. Everything was clean and well taken care of. We cooked outside in the fire pit while it snowed! Fun! The cabin is well appointed. The kitchen has everything and more for the home cook - we appreciated that wine glasses were available and we did not have to use plastic cups. We would have loved to stay longer. This is the perfect place to relax with friends and family, read books, enjoy the view and drink a good glass of wine.

Thanksgiving Family reunion

  • 5 of 5
Our adult children and grandchildren met us at Buck's Peak for Thanksgiving. Lot's of room for all 10 of us. Unexpected snow and power outage. Pete, the caretaker, was spectacular. Thank goodness our Verizon phones worked since that's how we got in touch with him. Cooked pies on gas grill but Thanksgiving delayed one day. The driveway, in the dark, with no previous experience is all loose gravel and ruts. We all front wheel drivers experienced problems but made it up but didn't leave until we left for good. It would be great to go back sometime when everything is in bloom. A beautiful fully stocked home!

Right in the heart of the Shenandoah Moutain, A Buck's Peak is less than five miles off of the Skyline Drive. Biking, antiquing, wine tasting, zip-lining, Yogi Bear Park, Luray Caverns, whiskey tours, ATVing and the coolest movie theater on the East Coast are just a few of the attractions. Recommend you partake in Wine Tasting at both Gadino Cellars (Washington, VA) and Chester Gap cellars in Rhappahanock. Enjoy the antique shops in Washington, Virginia as well as Luray, Virginia. The Luray Movie Theater is a refurbished mansion that shows first-run movies. Finally, you can simply enjoy the 120 jet, 8-person hot tub on the log cabin's huge deck!
