Luray Cabin Rental Photos and Description

The best log cabin in Jewell Hollow, Luray Virginia and yes it is ADA compliant! Located near the peak of the Shenandoah Mountains/Skyline Drive, “A Buck’s Peak” is a quiet hide-away that accommodates peace and tranquility to help you and your family relax and “re-charge” the batteries. Four master bedrooms – 3 king beds and 1 queen, “A Buck’s Peak” sleeps 10 (with built in bunk beds) and brags the best views on the mountain. One jet-soaking tub in the upstairs master bedroom and the queen bedroom has an ADA compliant bathroom and shower. Both basement bedrooms have full baths! Hot tub (8-person, 120 jets), 55-inch Sony television with DIRECTV, stainless steel appliances, DVD with DVD library, screened-in porch, jet bathtubs upstairs, and a game room complete with a shuffleboard table, dart board and a Sony Play Station 1 (with games) are just some of the amenities that will ensure you and your family enjoy your stay. We have a super large fire-pit and wood is provided. Additionally, we have two grills; one charcoal and one propane gas. Kitchen has granite counter-tops and stainless steel appliances and is fully stocked with all the pots, pans and plates to cook your meal and enjoy it! Sure, you can do your laundry at the cabin - full washer and dryer units are located next to the game rooms. Wi-fi/internet is available only with your personally-owned hotspot device dependent on your cellular carrier. Verizon seems to have the best access. Pets are certainly welcome and we have a fenced in pet run for exercise. The pet fee is $45 one-time fee for up to two pets – add $15/pet after two. Gravel road takes you up the mountain to this quiet hide-away. Four-wheel-drive highly recommended between Thanksgiving and mid-March. Wounded Warriors should ask about a special discount. Discounts are offered to either military (retired, active, Reservists) or teachers – ask for your discount up front to figure pricing; please do not expect more than one discount i.e. not BOTH military and educator (one or the other - both are equal). Also, please do not request discount after first communication - tell me up front you are military or an educator; thanks. 'A Buck's Peak' is owned by a military family. However, they lease the property to a limited liability company to run all rental business. Your host for your stay at 'A Buck's Peak' is Ey Man Enterprises, LLC. Thank you for choosing 'A Buck's Peak.' We look forward to your review after you stay! Please review the cabin after your stay at www.vrbo.com/438245

Carl S. Ey purchased this cabin in 2012

A Buck's Peak resides in the Cabin Capital of Virginia. It is a brand new log cabin in the middle of nowhere but close enough to enjoy the fun stuff like Luray Caverns, Arrowhead Lake (3 miles away), canoeing and rafting on the Shenandoah River, zip-lining, wine-tasting, hiking, antiquing, all types of biking, great restaurants and nature enjoyment. This cabin will take your breath away with all of the accommodations from a super hot tub to a fully equipped kitchen to a large screen t.v. and incredible game room.

This is one of a VERY few ADA compliant log cabins in the Virginia's Cabin Capital, Luray, Virginia! Additionally, you can tell people you stayed in 'the holler!' A Buck's Peak is located in what Luray citizens refer to as Jewell Hollow or 'the holler.' We offer either a military discount or an educator discount (not both). Please tell me up front that you are an educator or an active/retired/reservist/former military member.

FIRST TIME MOUNTAIN VACATION

  • 4 of 5
HAD A GREAT TIME AT "A BUCK'S PEAK". OUR WHOLE FAMILY REALLY ENJOYED THE CABIN AND THE LURAY AREA. AS FOR THE DRIVE, IT IS STEEP, BUT NO PROBLEM FOR AN SUV. WE DIDN'T HAVE ISSUES WITH BUGS IN THE HOUSE, BUT BEING IN THE WOODS, YOU NEED TO BE PREPARED TO DO A TICK CHECK. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL SCENERY, MORNING, NOON AND ESPECIALLY WHEN THE RAINBOWS CAME OUT AFTER A STORM. PETE THE HANDYMAN POPPED IN AND WAS VERY HELPFUL IF WE NEEDED ANYTHING. WE MET CARL, JEN AND HER PARENTS WHILE THEY WERE PUTTING FINISHING TOUCHES ON THE SMALLER CABIN AND THEY WERE SUPER FRIENDLY. "THANKS AGAIN"

BEAUTIFUL VIEWS, BUT...

  • 2 of 5
The cabin is brand new and the views are unbeatable! If it hadn't been for the driveway, our weekend would have been pretty close to perfect. There had been a lot of rain the day before and there was literally a fast flowing, deep stream across the driveway that stopped us from being able to drive up. The drive is about 1/2 mile long. Luckily our son had a 4 wheel drive truck or we would not have been able to get to the cabin. I do NOT recommend going to this cabin without a 4 wheel drive, regardless. The owner states that any car can get up the driveway, but I'm telling you, that's not going to happen. I have lived in NH and CO and this drive is one of the steepest I've seen! It is gravel and extremely rutted too. If it were graded it might be possible, but the drive is a big hinderance to the gorgeous property that awaits you at the top. If bugs bother you, then the stinkbugs are going to be a problem for you. The owner says he has a bug treatment program, but it's hard to believe. I've lived in very buggy states (including FL) and I don't think there would be as many bugs if there was really a bug service.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND 2014

  • 5 of 5
Eight of us (four couples) stayed from Friday to Monday and we had a great time. The bedrooms were perfect, each having their own full bath. It was as if each of us had our own private suite. The bedrooms were far enough away from each other that no one was disturbed by others. The house was extremely clean and the deck and hot tub were wonderful! The only complaint was the amount of stink bugs in the master bedroom - there seemed to be more in there than any other room. The house is right next to the national park and very close to the local winiries and the town of Luray. What made it even more perfect was that we could bring our dogs! We would absolutely rent this house again in the future!

Owner's Response: I appreciate all reviews as they are a big assistance to my wife and I in order to make our guest's visits a more pleasant experience. Unfortunately, Nanci had issues because she doesn't pay close attention. I explained to Nancy that Northern Virginia has had 87 million stink bugs inundate the region this year. She received that info in her check in instructions and the Freq. Asked Questions document sent to her and her family over a month before arriving. The check in instructions indicate that the stinkbugs are a big nuisance. Yet, she finds time to remark about them in her review. Additionally, she is the first guest to have trouble in the spring/summer with our driveway. She is obviously not a confident driver. Nanci is right; the driveway is steep as she was told in the check in instructions and told that front wheel drive is fine. I don't know what she drove but I do know she was there late and suggested that she had challenges with rain. Again, she may need to revisit her driver's course material. Finally, I would suggest to all potential renters that Nanci obviously has an issue as her two-star rating is so far out of consideration that it makes her thoughts fairly moot. No matter how much info you give a client, you are going to have some go "off of the reservation" and provide less-than-helpful reviews. Nancy is one of those clients. We won't have her again.

WHAT A VIEW !!

  • 5 of 5
The listing was absolutely identical to what we found at Buck's Peak. Photos can't describe how beautiful this home is. The mountain road is just about a two miles off Rte 211. Although you feel like you are in "God's country" when you arrive. Nighttime stars are just gorgeous. Neighbors in the area are very friendly as we met several of them on a few walks. Carl the owner was very helpful and prompt in his replies that we had. You must visit the Luray Caverns while you are there. Hard to describe the experience in a few words. Please GO!! We were visiting Luray for a destination wedding. Make sure you walk the Hawksbill Greenway. It is a great walking trail along the river and you can stop off to see downtown Luray with some unique shops and restaurants. Lake Arrowhead is also quite scenic and a great place to hike --it is just about 3 miles from the house.

BOYS WEEKEND!

  • 5 of 5
My son and I visited Busk's Peak for the weekend and had a blast. We rode our ATV's, fished in a nearby lake, roasted marshmallows in the fire pit and relaxed in the hot tub. The cabin is beautiful and its a great escape for a long weekend.

Right in the heart of the Shenandoah Moutain, A Buck's Peak is less than five miles off of the Skyline Drive. Biking, antiquing, wine tasting, zip-lining, Yogi Bear Park, Luray Caverns, whiskey tours, ATVing and the coolest movie theater on the East Coast are just a few of the attractions. Recommend you partake in Wine Tasting at both Gadino Cellars (Washington, VA) and Chester Gap cellars in Rhappahanock. Enjoy the antique shops in Washington, Virginia as well as Luray, Virginia. The Luray Movie Theater is a refurbished mansion that shows first-run movies. Finally, you can simply enjoy the 120 jet, 8-person hot tub on the log cabin's huge deck!
