Honu Kai Hideaway is nestled among the trees and lush landscaping of the spectacular Turtle Bay Resort, an 880 acre tropical paradise. Our Hideaway is the perfect blend of tropical seclusion amidst all the amenities offered by a world class resort. Our expansive whitewater ocean and golf course views will take your breath away.
Honu Kai Hideaway is located along the renowned stretch of beaches that make up Oahu's North Shore. The North Shore is known for it's country living, relaxed lifestyle, beautiful surfing beaches, eclectic shopping and pleasurable restaurants.
Honu Kai Hideaway is remarkably more light and airy than other Kuilima Estate condos because additional large windows showcase our expansive view with a 'treetop' feel. The private Lanai is perfect for relaxing outdoors or enjoying meals al fresco.
The condo is fully furnished including flat screen HD TV, WIFI, and Cable TV. (However, it should be noted that Internet service and Wi Fi are often spotty and intermittent on the North Shore).
The kitchen is full-sized with stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. (Barbecues are available poolside). A washer and dryer is included within the unit. The bedroom offers a Cal King bed with air conditioning in the bedroom.
Honu Kai Hideaway is located on the East side of Kuilima Estates and is surrounded by two championship golf courses. Some of the amenities available to guests include tennis courts and two swimming pools each of which includes a barbeque area. A short walk and you are at the Turtle Bay Hotel which has many terrific restaurants, a great pool bar, entertainment and magnificent beaches. There are many activities on the property that can be booked at either the Hotel concierge desk or the the Activities Center. One can choose from horseback riding, bicycle or moped rentals, surf lessons and helicopter rides. Golf can be booked at the golf pro shop which is also home to Lei Lei’s restaurant a favorite of locals.
Fabulous eating options abound within the Resort and on the North Shore; A scenic 15-30 minute drive in either direction offers a sumptuous variety of local, international or resort cuisine. Locally grown fruit and vegetable stands are just down the road. Ted's Bakery is less than 10 minutes away (Chocolate Haupia Pies!). We also have a delightful grocery store, Foodland which is just 20 minutes away.
Historic Haleiwa town, a 30 minute drive, is an old whaling village and has become a shopper's paradise and restaurant-lovers delight. Yet it still maintains it's old town charm.
Every conceivable water activity is easily available to you here at the Resort and on the North Shore: Surfing, Sunbathing, Diving, Snorkeling, Tide Pools, Whale Watching, Fishing, Jet Skiing and more. Lessons are available for anyone with a desire to learn.
In addition to all the activities and amenities of Turtle Bay Resort there are countless activities for the energetic visitor. Exploring the magnificent North Shore beaches as well as fabulous hiking trails including the trail to Waimea Falls. Other must-sees for the active visitor are Waimea Botanical Gardens, Polynesian Cultural Center and Haleiwa Town.
The winter months bring added excitement when the waves swell to huge proportions and pro surfers from all over the world assemble to compete in the Triple Crown of Surfing. This is a fabulous spectator sport not to be missed if you are fortunate enough to visit during this time. You can always find sheltered beaches and smaller waves to enjoy the water if the huge ones 'aren't your thing'.
Our family loves the North Shore of Oahu! It is what Hawaii is all about . . . a magnificent tropical destination where you can immerse yourself in a warm culture, while experiencing a wide variety of island activities. Our family has lived on the islands of Hawaii for over 20 years. We love the uniqueness of each island, but we are especially fond of Oahu's North Shore. Here we experience an older 'laid back' vibe that is reminiscent of 'Old Hawaii.' Because we are a family of surfers we feel fortunate to live on these beaches that are the 'best in the world.' The North Shore offers so much to visitors and locals alike and we are delighted to share Honu Kai Hideaway with you.
Carol Kennedy purchased this condo in 2012
The Turtle Bay Resort property is one of the most beautiful tropical destinations in the world. Numerous paths lead away from the center of the resort to beautiful sparkling beaches that are amazingly remote. We love watching the horses that graze around the property. We are regulars at the restaurants: Lei Leis for Barbecue Ribs, Caesar Salad with Ahi and Mai Tais. Ono's for Fresh Fish and romantic dinners. The Pool Bar for drinks at sunset. We love the friendly, relaxed vibe of Turtle Bay.
The location of Honu Kai Hideaway sets it apart from all the other condos on the property. We are the upper end unit furthest removed from the other condos around us.
Once inside, you will feel like you are alone in your own treehouse.
Honu Kai was wonderful to stay in. Walking in and seeing the view of the golf course and the ocean from the windows was breath taking, my husband and I never got tired of looking out the windows or sitting on the lanai. What a view! The condo was very clean and extremely well stocked. We have time shares and have always had condos and this was by far the best stocked. We had a couple of light bulbs burn out the they were replaced very quickly and any questions I emailed Carol with were answered promptly. We loved the North Shore and the beach at Turtle Bay resort was beautiful. We sat at the bar at Turtle Beach and watched the beautiful sunset. The nature walk paths were beautiful and we were fortunate enough to see a monk seal resting on the beach. The beauty of the waves and color of the water was remarkable. We were able to watch the Billibong Pipeline Masters surfing competition and enjoyed a lot of beach time. The weather was great and we couldn't have asked for better. Ted's Bakery had the most awesome shrimp (better than the shrimp trucks that we tried and the deserts were great). We went to Opal Thai in Haleiwa for the best Thai food we have ever had! We had a couple of drinks at the Turtle Bay Resort with appetizers and both were very good, plus the view was spectacular! We made good use of the cooler and beach chairs! The worst part about the condo was leaving it!! Mahalo Carol. We will be back to stay
Very clean and well stocked bungalow in the heart of the North Shore action. We have visited Turtle Bay many times and this is the nicest unit we have stayed in, what a view! We will be back!!!
Honu Kai is the perfect home away from home for 2. We stayed for 12 days. It feels so private. Gorgeous views across the golf course to the ocean. Everything was as advertised. The condo was very clean and ready for us when we arrived. We stopped at the Waimea Vallet farmers market on our way. It was great for local produce. There were the staples in the kitchen, the bed was very comfortable and linens were provided. There were beach chairs, an ice chest and beach towels. The Turtle Bay property is very well taken care of. We hiked the trails everyday and rarely saw anyone else. We enjoyed the surf competition in Haliewa and spent many hours on the beach. Carol was so easy to work with and was available if we had questions. We will definitely be back and this will be where we will stay. Aloha and mahalo.
My husband and I stayed here for 12 days and it was perfect. Had everything we needed. Loved the location. We wanted away from busy Waikiki but it was only 30-45 min drive away depending on traffic. We walked to the beach every night, grabbed a Mai Tai and watched the surfers and sunset :) We would definitely stay here again.
This was our 5th consecutive year of vacationing at Turtle Bay. I will not elaborate on the obvious attractions as highlighted throughout these reviews (Lei Lei's, Teds, shrimp trucks, Haleiwa, etc.), but I will say that this condo was perfect in every way. I cannot imagine a better view in any other location throughout the complex. Stunning sunrises every morning, sneak peak of the ocean in the distance, and the 17th Fazio green right outside your window. Being an avid golfer, the latter was almost too enticing as evidenced by my just received credit card bill :). Everything that we needed was included....even a half bottle of rum for the mai tai's (thanks to a previous renter I presume). Can't wait to return. If this unit ever goes on the market please call us first :).
The condo itself was just great. Most of the condos at Turtle Bay don't seem to have an ocean view, but this one had both a golf course view and an ocean view. Everything was top notch and just wonderful. We had one issue: a loud neighbor. My husband and I are in our sixties. The woman apparently living below this condo in #111 was in her twenties. Definitely a discrepancy. Saturday morning at 1:45 am, the woman and some friends arrived in the apartment and were partying. They were very loud. I had to call condo security TWICE before the noise abated. The condo association called the owners of the that unit, and the next night there was no noise. However, she continued to play music loudly, and she and her friends seemed to have an issue with yelling. Before booking this condo again, I would ask about the neighbors.
Beach, pool, and other amenities were very good. I contacted the owner about the noise issue, and she was on top of the situation.
