This delightful old stone property has just been completely refurbished and comprises three light, airy and spacious apartments: The ground floor studio with its terrace over-looking the river, the middle two bedroom apartment with a covered veranda over-looking the river and the upper one bedroom apartment with a large terrace, partly covered, again with delightful river views.

The lovely old village of Collias has bar, restaurants and shops all within three minutes' walk of the house. The River Gardon and its gorges are on the doorstep, with swimming, canoeing and riverside walks, river birds, beavers and other wildlife. Beautiful medieval Uzes, the famous Pont du Gard, Nimes and Avignon are all a short drive away. Vineyards, cultural events, Provençal landscapes and medieval hilltop villages are all close at hand.

OUR THIRD TIME WHICH SAYS IT ALL, REALLY

This was our third time staying in one of Jenny’s beautiful relaxing apartments in Collias and it won’t be the last. La du Barry and Collias combined make for the perfect peaceful sun-soaked holiday retreat. The river is gorgeous and there is everything you need in the town – a lovely café/bar/restaurant by the river (L’Enclos), a bakery for fresh bread and croissants every morning and two local shops for any other food items you might need. Apartment 2 is very spacious, well-appointed, tastefully furnished and looks out on a tree-covered slope with a view too of the river which is only a stone’s throw away. The pool is beautiful and an excellent place to lounge under the sun umbrella on hot afternoons. There are no through-roads anywhere near the apartment so virtually no traffic noise. We have also stayed extremely happily in the studio apartment twice and enjoyed having dinner out on the porch most evenings. Jenny couldn’t be a more welcoming, friendly and helpful owner. Very highly recommended.

EIN WUNDERSCHÖNES HAUS IN EINER TOLLEN GEGEND

Die Wohnung ist noch viel schöner als es auf den Fotos aussieht. Das liebevoll restaurierte Steinhaus liegt direkt am Fluss in absolut ruhiger Lage. Die Wohnung ist sehr großzügig geschnitten und wirkt durch den hellen Stein sehr edel und luxuriös. Wir waren als Familie mit 4 Personen dort (2 Erwachsene, 2 Kinder) und hatten mehr als genug Platz für uns alle. Das Schlafzimmer ist riesig und auch das Bad ist größer als unseres zuhause. Ich kann mich nicht erinnern, schon einmal in einer derart geschmackvoll ausgestatteten Ferienwohnung gewesen zu sein. Direkt an der Wohnung ist der Swimmingpool, den unsere Kinder ausgiebig genutzt haben. Wir Erwachsene sind täglich 2-3 mal im Fluss schwimmen gegangen. Man kann tatsächlich hier auch im Hochsommer schwimmen, da direkt unterhalb des Hauses eine natürliche Badestelle liegt, die auch im August genug Wasser hat. Das Wasser ist erstaunlich kalt, aber dadurch sehr erfrischend - für uns ideal. Es gibt sogar Klippen, von den man springen kann (bis zu 10m hoch).
Collias ist ein hübsches Steindorf mit einigen kleinen Geschäften und einer Bäckerei, die jeden Tag (auch Sonntag und am Feiertag) geöffnet ist. Hier gibt es alles, was das frankophile Herz begehrt - vor allem das Paillasse hatte es uns angetan.
In der Umgebung gibt es mehr Sehenswürdigkeiten als man in 14 Tagen besuchen kann. Vor allem die Städte sind alle einen Ausflug wert (Nîmes, Avignon, Orange, Uzès, ...), aber auch die kleinen Bergdörfer in der Umgebung. Kurzum, es war eine optimale Mischung aus Entspannung und Kultur. Das Meer wäre auch in 1h Fahrt erreichbar, aber wir haben es überhaupt nicht vermisst.
Direkt gegenüber des Hauses gibt es einen abgeschlossenen Parkplatz, auf dem man sein Auto sicher und problemlos parken kann. Was in Anbetracht der Parksituation in Collias nicht zu unterschätzen ist.
Jenny ist eine sehr liebenswürdige Gastgeberin. Sie hat uns direkt bei der Ankunft in Empfang genommen und stand jederzeit per E-Mail oder auch persönlich für weitere Auskünfte zur Verfügung. Wir können diese Wohnung wirklich nur wärmstens empfehlen!

SPRING STAY IN THE MIDDLE APARTMENT

We stayed in the middle apartment for a week in the spring of 2013 and had a good time. It was too cold to enjoy the pool or to go swimming in the river but we enjoyed our stay none the less. The apartment is comfortable to stay in and well appointed. It is in a beautiful little town and close to Pont-du-Gard, Uzes, Nimes and Avignon. There were people staying in the upper and lower apartments while we were there and you could hear the people in the apartment above a bit but nothing intrusive. The apartment is a good size and it was nice to have English TV available after two weeks without it prior to checking in. Jenny was a good host and spoke very good English. The deck and pool is right outside the main bedroom window which was nice to wake up to. The river is only a few steps down the hill and has nice walking paths through this beautiful area.

LOVELY INDEED!

This house is a sweet little gem, whose owner, Jenny, went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and at home. We spent 4 weeks in the middle apartment and had a wonderful time. The house is comfortable and had enough space for our family of four.

The location is beautiful, in a little street that leads straight to the river, with its gorgeous trail. We rented a bike in Uzes and explored the area both on bike and on foot.

Collias has a couple of small groceries that have the basics, and a great bakery where our boys (4yrs and 6yrs) enjoyed going to buy croissants and fresh bread. The boys actually had their birthdays in Collias, and the baker created a special custom birthday cake for them. Jenny joined us in the celebrations, which made it a very special day for us. Thank you Jenny!

We would love to come back to this village and stay in Jenny's house again!

OUR WEEK IN COLLIAS

Collias was a delightful place to stay and the position of the apartment was perfect. The village offered all that we needed - restaurants, bakers and other small shops for supplies. Being near the river, it offered swimming, canoeing and walking.
Jenny was an excellent host, providing information before and during our stay. The apartment was well decorated and contained all that we required.
Our small criticisms were that one bedroom did not offer enough privacy as it was only separated from the lounge by a curtain and that there was not a file of local tourist information. These are trivial.
We recommend a visit to Uzès, it was wonderful.

I’d just like to add for the benefit of future guests that there ARE glazed French doors (which even lock) with curtains between the bedroom and the sitting room. Perhaps you did not realise they were there because they were wide open behind the curtains ???
Yes a file of local tourist information is of course a good idea and is already in the process of being put together.
