Big Canoe House Rental Photos and Description
3 bedrooms 3 bathrooms Sleeps 6-8; 2-3 nights min. stay
We purchased this house in 2007 as a get-away retreat for our rest and relaxation. Because we soon learned that we achieved our goal, we named our home Tranquility. The primary problem that we have had is our inability to visit Big Canoe more often. We are excited to make Tranquility available to others so that they may experience the character of our home, the beauty and multiple activities available and the ambiance of Big Canoe.
We're located in the scenic foothills of the North Georgia mountains with elevations exceeding 3,000 feet. Big Canoe consists of 8,000 acres of dramatic mountain peaks and ridges, and natural woodland forests. In addition, Big Canoe is also an Audubon Society Wildlife Sanctuary where you can see deer, wild turkeys, and other wildlife at any given turn in the road.
As you enter the front door of our charming house, you'll start smiling when you are greeted by the lovely decor and beautiful artwork. You will immediately feel so at ease, that you will want to kick-off your shoes, lean back in one of the comfortable sofas, and just enjoy the flavor of this home. You might also decide to take a short drive around Big Canoe to see the fitness center, well manicured golf course, outdoor pools, sandy beach and a lake that is stocked and available for immediate fishing. If you are a fisherman, please don't forget your fishing permit or you may purchase one here!
Upon entering our home, you will experience the Great Room that has a lovely sitting area with a stacked, rock fireplace, a 50' plasma tv and home theater setup, and an adjacent computer (monitor, printer, and separate fax). The Great Room extends into the Dining Room and an open kitchen that is fully equipped and stocked with all the staples (from salt to wax paper, hot chocolate to marshmallows) that you might want or need.
Overlooking the great room is a loft which has an office with a computer with high speed internet access. There is also an area where children may entertain themselves by playing some of our age appropriate games or viewing one of the dvd's in our extensive video library. If you must work while you are here, and you prefer to bring your own laptop, you can use the high speed wireless internet. There are 3 nice sized bedrooms, with one on each floor, and 3 full baths. A lovely Sun Room sits outside right off the Great Room and provides a very relaxing atmosphere. You will be able to sit on the hanging swing and listen to the sounds of the rambling creek, song of the birds, and deer rustling in the woods. There is also a deck that is just off the Great Room and is also accessible to the Sun room. There is also a gas grill provided and lovely sitting areas for your family entertaining. There is an amazing, well-equipped Exercise Room with a 50' wide screen television and a convertible full-sized futon. There are televisions located in each bedroom.
We provide everything including linens, luxurious bath towels, and paper products (such as tissues, paper towels, toilet paper, tooth paste, garbage bags, and coffee filters), as well as laundry and dishwasher detergent. Guests will only need to provide their own meals. We have everything you can want in your vacation home. Tranquility is spacious enough for a big family or 3 couples; and is able to sleep comfortably 6-8 people.
If the family chef needs a well deserved break, Big Canoe has several dining options to meet your needs. Appalachia Grill, just outside the gates of Big Canoe, is a wonderful dinner option with a full bar and great wine list as well as a wide-ranging menu with something for everyone. It is definitely our top recommendation for dining out! Lake Sconti Restaurant at the Golf Club serves dinner several nights a week and a champagne brunch on Sunday. For Italian, Piazza is in the heart of Big Canoe at Wolfscratch Village and Trevi Pizzaria you decide a beautiful mountain home, containing the luxuries you are used toys located a short distance from the gate. A short distance from Big Canoe is Mary's Bread Basket that provides wonderful sandwiches, yummy bread and fabulous desserts.
No matter what activities you choose for your Big Canoe vacation, Tranquility is just what you are looking for. It is the perfect place to relax or 'escape' for a short weekend, family vacation, wedding, or reunion, 'Tranquility' at Big Canoe will be your special 'home away from home'. Thank You so much! We enjoyed our stay with our daughter and son-in-law at your lovely home. We enjoyed meeting you and you were lovely to work with. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Hope to return at a future date.

We have two grown daughters and two rescue dachshunds - Nudnik and Pixie. We enjoy listening to music, watching movies, having quality time with each other, and spending most of our free time at Big Canoe.
We love the accessibility of Marietta, Georgia to Big Canoe. In little more than an hour, we can arrive at the North Gate of Big Canoe and be at our Tranquility get-away home within a few minutes. The beauty, solitude, and relaxing atmosphere make Big Canoe our respite from all the typical stress and pressures of daily living when our home is not being rented!
Our home is on a quiet dead-end cul-de-sac. While outside you can hear the enchanting melody of birds chirping and the sounds of rustling leaves as the wind blows gently through the tree tops. While enjoying the deck or taking a walk through the backyard, we can enjoy the pleasant sound of the rambling creek that runs into nearby Lake Petit that surrounds the cul-de-sac at the end of Robins Nest. Our driveway leads into a parking area that can accommodate up to 3 cars.
