Aloha, Bill and I have lived in Hawaii for 20 years. We discovered the Kaloko area and fell in love. It is the best of both worlds, sunny mornings, afternoon showers and cooler nights for comfortable sleeping. Still only 10 minutes to the beach and 13 minutes to Kona town. Bill is a builder and woodworker who loves to surf and kitesurf. I love to hike, I am on the local trails daily with our dogs Dude and Lola. I also love the ocean, and I am a Yoga instructor.

Get a unique Hawaii experience. Wake to the sounds of birds, hike through the forest of Ohia, Koa and Hapu Ferns, and pick wild Lilikoi.

Tucked into the fern forest, ideal for hiking, bird watching and photography. If you find the heat in town a bit much for you, this is the ideal location. The Big Island is known for it's world class fishing and active volcano.

ZEN HOUSE

  • 5 of 5
I am so glad we chose this beautiful home in the mountains. The detail of craftsmanship in the home is beautiful. Very comfy bed, nice kitchen. Even the window sills are Koa wood. Every morning we woke up to the music of birds and looking into the surrounding jungle shows you the real Hawaii. We were just minutes to Kona and the airport. I loved relaxing in the bathtub on the deck and listening to nature. On Sunday we stayed at the house instead of running around doing things on the island. It was a perfect time to read and really relax before our flight home the next day. The owner's Bill and Kathy have certainly made a paradise here. Thank you for sharing your lovely guest home and beautiful property with us.

GREAT SPOT IN THE TROPICAL RAIN FOREST.

  • 4 of 5
My wife and I recently stayed at Bill and Kathryn's house up in the hills behind Kona. It was a wonderful experience. The house in located at some altitude above the hot beaches at sea level in a kind of perpetual Spring environment. Temps in the day were in the 70's dropping down to the low 60's on a clear night. It was a bit chilly in the morning, but there was a fireplace if one wanted to build a fire, or, more practically, put on a sweater. Also, being up there, it was very peaceful, and far from the madding beach loving crowds down below. Of course it was very easy to access any of the west coast beaches if that is what you want. Also major shopping is only a 10-15 minute drive away
Their house is fully equipped including satellite t.v. if that is important on your Hawai'ian vacation. The only caveat is that there is no internet from the house itself for those who like to stay connected, ( like us ). However, a short walk up the driveway to where the owners live gives you a good connection. All in all a great place for a couples or family vacation. Thanks Bill and Kathryn for your hospitality.

VERY PRIVATE

  • 4 of 5
We stayed here 4 nights and we really enjoyed it the house was perfect and is so private. Owner was very helpful with information, and ideas.
I would highly recommend this place.
The only thing that would make it better would be to have internet access available.

I am so glad you enjoyed you stay with us, what a lovely anniversary gift from your daughter. Thanks for the recommendation, we do have WIFI available now. Bill and I are off to SD soon and I will stop by Pangea and see if they have any more of those happy bhudda statues.
Sincerely
Kathryn

EXCELLENT PLACE TO STAY

  • 5 of 5
As a former resident of Kona, I am quite familiar with this area. I enjoyed my stay there very much. It was peaceful and quiet, with lots of privacy. I especially enjoyed the proximity to good hiking trails. It was a pleasure to talk to the owners.

EXCELLENT, COMFORTABLE, PEACEFUL

  • 5 of 5
This is a great place to stay, we liked being above the hustle and bustle in Kona, up in the hills. There is a nice hiking trail nearby and an organic coffee farm that gives tours nearby. The accommodations were very nice, tasteful, and roomy. We could use the laundry facilities and the owners let us use some flippers for our kids, too.
