Sea, Sun & Relax in Jose Ignacio (Punta del Este)

The village is located on a natural peninsula that juts out into the ocean with two sweeping beaches either side. Taking a walk down Mansa Beach in the early evening you are rewarded with some spectacular sunsets.

During the summer months (December to March) people come from far afield to throw parties, enjoy carnival and see concerts in the lighthouse.

This hidden gem of a village is most famous for its lighthouse, which shows just how cut off from the outer world you are here and as drawn the slogan that has made these beaches very popular: “Only the wind runs here”.

The best of staying here is that it's close enough to join the activity in Punta del Este, La Barra or José Ignacio, but far enough away to enjoy solitude.

The house very practical and comfortable. You can rent a car and use it as a base for exploring the area: Uruguay's main attraction is its beaches, so most visitors come in summer. It possesses 450 km of coasts along the Rio de la Plata and 220 km on the Atlantic Ocean. This gives rise to a series of beaches of high tourist interest for the beauty they enclose.

There are wonderful restaurants and beaches nearby as well as markets for finding items for firing up the parilla at the house.

If you feel a bit more active you can enjoy good surfing in the area and even kite-surfing at Laguna Garzon. It is also an attractive place to visit during the winter months between July and late October as the weather stays mild. Then you share this little paradise with far fewer people and Franca Whales too, resting on their way to Peninsula Valdes in Argentina.
