We are a family of five from Marblehead, Ma. We love the outdoors all year-round and spend our winter weekends skiing and snowshoeing, and the summer weekends boating and fishing.
Stephanie Scola purchased this house in 2004
We have been coming to the Jackson area for over 20 years. Jackson is a quaint New England village but close to everything you would ever want during a vacation. Whether it is mountain climbing or shopping, it is all only a few minutes away.
We knew right away that this was the house for us. It is nestled in the trees with no neighbors in sight and has beautiful views of Mt. Washington and the surrounding mountains.
My husband, his brother and wife and I had a wonderful time. The home was beautiful and spacious and clean. We had everything we wanted at our disposal. We were greeted by a big black bear at the kitchen window on our second day there. He then proceeded to walk around the deck. He was quite beautiful, but a little scary. We were able to see a lot of New Hampshire each day and return to a nice warm fire in the evening. Stephanie was great when one morning we ran out of propane and she had the truck there to refill within an hour. Thank you Stephanie for sharing your home with us. We had a great time.
My wife and two younger kids renting this house for a long weekend trip to Storyland and Mt. Washington. This was by far one of the best rentals we have had to date - very clean and comfortable good size two story layout built into a hillside. The house was updated (but still rustic feel) throughout most of the property and just about every amenity you could need onsite. The property was nicely secluded in the woods down a short dirt road, but we were within less than five mins drive to a number of places to eat and to storyland itself (and heading away from the n. conway traffic too). In winter, you were less than 10 mins to attitash, and ~20-30 mins to bretton woods/wildcat/cannon mts. – really great location and in a quaint and quieter town but still close enough into the commercial center of N. Conway if one really wanted that (i personally didn't).
The property owner has been very accommodating and responsive to date and expect the close out of the transaction to be no different. We would certainly look to try and stay here again on our next trip up through that area.
This was a perfect place to stay for our family vacation. It easily accommodated parents, grandparents, and two very young children. The house was immaculately clean and had everything we needed (and then some) to make ourselves at home. The house's layout is fantastic - Two good-sized bedrooms and bathrooms on the main floor, a large entryway perfect for loading and unloading vacation and day-trip bags, and an open dining room and living room right next to the kitchen. We all had our own space, while still having several areas to spend time together. The nicely finished downstairs was a bonus!
The location was also ideal. We were enticed by the seclusion of a house in the mountains and forest, and were not disappointed. The endless windows provide natural sunlight and views of the surrounding wilderness - and even a visit from a black bear! But even though we felt miles from civilization, we were within walking distance of Jackson and only minutes from many places of interest. This was a perfect "home base" for Storyland, Santa's Village, Mount Washington, and Diana's Baths.
From the moment we arrived we felt like we were guests at a friend's beautiful home. We would definitely stay here again!
We have done long-term rentals here the past two summers. Couldn't have asked for a better spot. House is perfect for one or two families, with views to the top of Mt. Washington when it is visible, including a large deck. House breathes well if it is a warm summer night. Walk from the back yard 5 minutes down to the Ellis River to fly fish or swim. 1/2 mile down drive the hill to Jackson Village and all it has to offer. Up the hill to pick blueberries or just look at the majestic view from the base of the Iron Mountain trail. 15 minutes to Pinkham Notch, 1/2 hour to Crawford Notch. Storyland 5 mins away, same for Grant's supermarket, a cozy supermarket supplied by Hannaford's with all you need. 15 minutes striking distance to North Conway if you really need to do something there.
This was a perfect place for us! We had 3 adults and 6 kids with plenty of room! The boys loved the down stairs with all the bunk beds and room to play and watch TV... Us adults loved the peace and quiet upstairs!! The deck out back was very relaxing and the view was wonderful!! I particularly enjoyed the 3 separate bathroom.... Boys can be pretty stinky especially after hiking all day! Stephanie went above and beyond with making sure all of our needs were met, the house is fully stocked with stuff you wouldn't expect to find!! Very clean and super comfortable!! I hope to visit again soon..!
Lovely home was perfect for our long weekend in NH. Quiet location in the quaint village of Jackson -but so close to the action. Basement was ideal for the 2 toddlers to run around and play. House was clean and cozy; bed were comfortable; kitchen well-equipped. Some walking trails accessible right from the house's yard. Would rent here again without hesitation!
In the heart of the White Mountains, this home offers convenient access to beautiful hiking trails, rivers and fun swim holes, more than five golf courses in the area including the Jackson Public course 1/2 mile from the house , outlet shopping in North Conway, Story Land, great restaurants, and more.
