Tahoma House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Welcome to Tahoe!

Our charming cabin is nestled in among the trees on a quarter-acre wooded parcel a few blocks from Lake Tahoe in the little community of Tahoma. It is child-safe, pet-friendly and smoke-free.

Outside: The driveway accommodates three vehicles (two in winter). Decks are on three sides of our home.

The back deck, which is several feet off the ground, is fenced so that small children and dogs can wander on it safely. A picnic table that seats four for the back deck is stored under the beds off-season. The front deck has a picnic table and benches. You will find a BBQ grill and folding chairs available in storage areas. The side deck is covered for easy entry.

Inside: Our cabin is 1100 sq. ft. and very comfortable. There is wireless Internet access.

The kitchen has every kind of appliance you can imagine: coffee maker, coffee grinder, waffle iron, juicer, popcorn popper, crock pot, salad spinner, cork screw, bottle opener, electric frying pan (for pancakes at the breakfast table), hand and table model electric mixers, dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, toaster, and a crock pot. There are plenty of big pots and pans, salad bowls and casserole dishes if you are cooking for a gang. Take the hibachi outside to use it!

The living room has a wood-burning stove, but there is also a forced-air gas furnace, so it's not necessary to tend a fire. The television includes a VCR, DVD player and and there are over 400 videos. There is a telephone. You will also find several informative binders and brochures about things to see and do at Tahoe.

There is a washer and dryer, as well as a locker for skis and boots in the entryway.

One bathroom has a tub and shower, the other has a shower. There is a hair dryer in each bathroom. There are electric wall heaters in both bathrooms.

Alarm clocks are in the bedrooms. Extra blankets and linens are stored in the bedrooms as well. There are games such in the back bedroom closet. One bedroom has a bookcase loaded with novels, and books about things of local interest: trees, birds, flowers, local history. There is a box of toys for a toddler in the bedroom with the crib. There is also a booster seat, a pack for carrying a baby, and several chairs sized for the under-5 crowd.

Snow Removal: We maintain a contract for snow removal during the winter months.

Activities and Attractions: Walk to a general market with a deli, a pizzeria, a post office, an Italian ice cream shop, and a bar. Also within walking distance is our homeowners' beach and pier, with buoys that you may rent during summer. Pack a picnic basket and take a stroll to Sugar Pine Point State Park and enjoy an afternoon at the Ehrman Mansion, pier and beach.

Our neighborhood park, Marie Sluchak Park and Playground, has a play structure, picnic tables, and barbecues, as well as a stage with amphitheater seating. On summer Sundays, it offers church services; and on Saturday nights, there are free movies suitable for children. Concerts and day camps are also scheduled during summer months. The park is available to rent for receptions or parties.

Minutes away by car are Emerald Bay with its Vikingsholm Castle and Eagle Falls, a part of DL Bliss State Park; Meeks Bay with its wide sand beaches and shallow warm waters; the Tallac Historic Site with its Valhalla Boathouse Theater, Valhalla Grand Hall and the remnants of a bygone era of grand estates owned by Baldwin, Heller and Pope; and Taylor Creek Visitors Center at Camp Richardson, where you can watch the spawning run of Kokanee salmon through the window in a tunnel that runs along side the steam, or take a walk on an interpretive trail.

Hiking and mountain biking trails offer a variety of terrain for those who like steep climbs or easy family routes. A bike path goes past Tahoma north to Squaw Valley or south to Emerald Bay, so pack a picnic and head off with the family. Or perhaps you'd like to hike a portion of the 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail. For backpackers, Tahoma is adjacent to the Desolation Wilderness.

There are also music and theater festivals, rodeos, parades, arts and crafts fairs, fishing, horseback riding, rafting on the Truckee River, parasailing, cruises on the lake, hot-air ballooning, and many other activities available.

Winter offers a wide selection of activities as well, including Alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snow-shoeing, sledding, dog-sledding, and ice-skating. Skiing? Tahoe offers a vast selection of resorts. The closest one is Homewood Mountain Resort, three miles away, where children 10 and under ski free. The bigger ones are Alpine Meadows, Northstar at Tahoe, Mount Rose Ski Area and Squaw.

Nice and well maintained wood cabin for winter vacation lodging with all amenities including WiFi. The location is nice and quiet and easy access to the west lake shores. The cabin had lots of movies to watch and books to read with 2 Tv's. The cabin has a nice backyard and porch and the rooms and kitchen are well stocked with basic amenities and even a bunker bed and some toys for kids. The pricing was also good. Overall, a great place to stay for the winter.
