We built this house ourselves using locally-milled wood. The floors are madrone, ceilings are deodar cedar, and columns and beams are longleaf pine. The house features radiant heat and a large fireplace.
This property definitely exceeded my family's expectations. The sleeping arrangements were communal yet manageable, the views of the bay were as pristine as they come, and the kitchen was very modern. The large family room perfectly accommodated our group around the fireplace. The location could not be better, a short drive into "downtown" Inverness and many nearby hiking trails / beaches that are easily walkable.
A group of friends and I shared this house for two nights and loved it. It's very private, has a gorgeous view, and is a ten-minute walk to the sweet Shell Beach. The sleeping is somewhat communal, but we didn't care. We were all very relaxed and happy to be there. The kitchen is terrific for cooking, there's a huge dining table, and there are many porches and nooks and window seats and charming areas to hang out. I would definitely stay there again! Also, owners were helpful and flexible.
My family of 8 stayed for four nights. We enjoyed cooking and eating together. We also enjoyed making a fire in the front yard. The view of the bay is great. I photographed many birds in the backyard, especially woodpeckers. Two deer greeted me in the morning in the backyard. The neighborhood is great for walking. The trails off of Shell Beach are close by. Inverness and Point Reyes are full of wild life, trails, and beaches. If you like the outdoors, you'll love the area! Our favorite restaurant was in Point Reyes - Cafe Reyes. There is a wonderful grocery store in Point Reyes too.
We loved our time at the Inverness House! The home is beautiful and accommodated our family trip perfectly. Loved the open floor plan, view of the bay and neighborhood. We were able to walk right from the house to great hiking trails and beaches.
Our immediate family rented this house as a surprise for my husband's 60th birthday. It was the perfect place - It was comfortable, open and attractive. It was also quiet but within a short walk to a beach and further hiking.
The kitchen was well stocked, there was wood for the fireplace. We were able to have big family meals, play games take hikes and relax.
In addition the owner couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating.
Our group of 4 women spent a long weekend exploring/hiking Pt Reyes. The property was ideally located for hiking in the mountains or out to the beach and driving out to the lighthouse. The property is a few minutes outside of Inverness, but its not very far back into Inverness or Inverness Park (Perry's Deli has good sandwiches) for restaurants or groceries.
We had too much exploring planned----I'd like to go back and just enjoy the house. Great views of Tomales Bay from nearly every room. Plenty of room to spread out and a very nice, well-stocked kitchen. There are 2 very long window seats (plus another in the cottage) that provide a great place to relax with a book. Although there are other houses close by, once you're thru the front gate it feels very remote---quite peaceful and relaxing. In fact, it would be a great place to spend a rainy weekend---bring some books, play some games and just relax. The four of us had multiple electronic devices and the wi-fi worked great all weekend.
However, only a couple of windows (in the master bedroom) have window coverings. We didn't have any concerns about privacy and wouldn't want to cover up the view----but, if you want to sleep in, bring a sleep mask.
The owners were quick to respond to inquiries and the whole process went very smoothly.
