HEIRLOOM ISTANBUL-ECO FRIENDLY RENOVATION OF 110 YR. OLD BLDG.

I purchased the building from its original owners of 110 years. 2011-2012 restoration of this building incorporated environmentally friendly construction materials and supported sustainable development practices. Specially selected wood construction materials emit no or very low formaldehyde into the air. Volatile Organic Compounds-free paint and wood stains. The furniture and cabinetry were made from solid wood from local sustainable sources. No MDF or OSB was used in this building. All William Morris designed wallpaper used in the building was printed on formaldehyde-free paper from managed sustainable European Forests. The printing was done with water-based inks and coatings and do not contain lead or any other heavy metals. The wallpaper is installed with wheat paste/cellulose paste. All the furniture in the building was designed to represent the arts and crafts movement using solid wood. The water heating and heating and air conditioning system is controlled by a energy efficient central system, which is located outside the building. The building and the units are equipped with fire alarm and automatic fire sprinkler system. Additionally, building features were added to the building for earthquake retrofitting. The rooms are equipped with audio-video system to communicate with the main entry door. Please note that no shoes are allowed in the building. To preserve this 110 year old building's original staircase and the wood floors in the rooms we kindly request the guest to take their shoes off at the entry (either carry them to your room or place them in your unit's shoe cupboard which is provided at the main entry). This building is strictly NON-SMOKING. We regret that we cannot accommodate pets.

There is a market and cafe located on the bottom floor of the building. Siphon, pour over or traditional espresso coffee, pastries, salads, ciabatta panini sandwiches are available in the cafe from 8:00am till 8:00pm.
